Abstract
Herein, this study was focused to get a knowledge about the intermolecular charge transfer complexes between the second generation of poly(propylene amine) dendrimer (PPD2) with picric acid (PA) and iodine (I2) as π and σ-acceptors. The charge-transfer interaction of the PPD2 electron donor and the PA acceptor has been studied in CHCl3. The resulted data refereed to the formation of the new CT-complex with the general formula [(PPD2)(PA)4]. The 1:4 stoichiometry of the reaction was discussed upon the on elemental analysis and photometric titration. On the other hand, the 1:3½ iodine-PPD2 heptaiodide (I7(-)) charge-transfer complex has been studied spectrophotometrically in chloroform at room temperature with general formula [(PPD2)](+)I7(-). The electronic absorption bands of 2I2·I3(-) (I7(-)) are observed at 358 and 294 nm. Raman laser spectrum of the brown solid heptaiodide complex has two clearly vibration bands at 155 and 110 cm(-1) due to symmetric stretching νs(II) outer and inner bonds, respectively. The (1)H NMR spectra and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) data of PPD2 charge-transfer complexes were discussed.

Abstract
Abstract
A unique feature of molecular iodine by far, is its ability to bind to polymeric materials. A plethora of natural and synthetic polymers develop complexes when treated with molecular iodine, or with a mixture of molecular iodine and potassium iodide. Many unexpected findings have been encountered upon complexation of iodine and the polymer skeleton, including the color formation, the polymer morphology changes, the complexation sites or regions, the biological activity, and the electrical conductivity enhancement of the complexes, with polyiodides (In¯), mainly I3¯ and I5¯, as the actual binding species. Natural polymers that afford such complexes with iodine species are starch (amylose and amylopectin), chitosan, glycogen, silk, wool, albumin, cellulose, xylan, and natural rubber; iodine-starch being the oldest iodine-natural polymer complex. By contrast, numerous synthetic polymers are prone to make complexes, including poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP), nylons, poly(Schiff base)s, polyaniline, unsaturated polyhydrocarbons (carbon nanotubes, fullerenes C60/C70, polyacetylene; iodine-PVA being the oldest iodine-synthetic polymer complex.

Abstract
The interactions between PAMAM-C12 25% and curcumin were studied by UV/vis, fluorescence spectroscopy, and molecular modeling methods. The experimental results showed that the formation of PAMAM-C12 25%@curcumin non-covalent adduct induced the fluorescence quenching of PAMAM-C12 25%; Curcumin entered the interface of PAMAM-C12 25% with mainly five classes of binding sites by hydrophobic, hydrogen bonds, and van der Waals forces interactions. The bigger values of binding constants indicated that PAMAM-C12 25% hold the curcumin tightly.

Abstract
Methyldopa is a much used antihypertensive drug. It is the subject matter of study mostly for the determination and estimation of methyldopa in pharmaceutical properties. These considerations led us to study the charge-transfer interactions between methyldopa, a centrally acting antihypertensive agent of limited use with the known acceptors like o-chloranil (o-ClN), chloranilic acid (ClA) and dichlorodicyanobenzoquinone (DDQ). Methyldopa (MDP) formed beautifully colored complexes (having absorption maxima at 581 nm and 368 nm; 519 nm; 583.5 nm, 547 nm and 346 nm, respectively) with the acceptors mentioned before. The physico-chemical properties of the complexes were studied using UV-visible spectrophotometry and FTIR measurements. The composition, the accurate association constants and thermodynamics of the complexes were determined spectrophotometrically. Attempts were made to interpret the thermodynamics of complexes in terms of I(D)(V), E(A)(V) and hν(CT). Solid CT complexes between MDP+o-ClN, MDP+ClA and MDP+DDQ were prepared and FTIR spectra of the complexes were studied. The energies hν(CT) of the charge-transfer complexes and vertical ionization potential I(D)(V) of methyldopa were compared with the theoretical values of hν(CT) obtained from HOMO and LUMO of the donors and acceptors calculated using Density Function Theory utilizing different basis sets. The agreement between the results can be regarded to be reasonable. Oscillator strengths and dipole strengths of the complexes were determined theoretically and experimentally and the limitations of the calculations were outlined.

Abstract
The interaction between ketoconazole and povidone drugs with iodine was found to proceed through initial formation of a charge transfer (CT) complex as an intermediate. The stoichiometry of the complex was found to be 1:1 in the case of povidone-iodine system and 1:2 in the case of ketoconazole-iodine system and the same was confirmed by thermal (TGA/DSC) studies. The formation of I(3)(-) species was confirmed by electronic and laser Raman spectra. The three peaks appeared in Raman spectra, of the isolated adducts corresponds to nu(as)(I-I), nu(s)(I-I) and delta(I(3)(-)), confirmed the presence of asymmetric I(3)(-) ion. The rate of the interaction has been measured as a function of time and solvent. The pseudo-first-order rate constants at various temperatures for the interactions were measured and the activation parameters (DeltaG(#), DeltaS(#) and DeltaH(#)) were computed. Based on the spectral and spectrokinetic evidences a mechanism involving the formation of a polar intermediate and its conversion to the final product has been proposed and discussed.

Abstract
Charge-transfer (CT) complexes formed from the reactions of two N,N'-bis-alkyl derivatives of 1,4,6,8-naphthalenediimide such as N,N'-bis[2-hydroxyethyl)]-1,4,6,8-naphthalenediimide (BHENDI) and N,N'-bis-[2-N,N-dimethylaminoethyl)]-1,4,6,8-naphthalenediimide (BDMAENDI) with chloranilic acid (CLA) and piciric acid (PA) as pi-acceptors, have been studied spectrophotometrically in methanol and chloroform, respectively at 25 degrees C. The photometric titration curves for the reactions indicated that the data obtained refer to 1:1 charge-transfer complexes of [(BHENDI)(CLA)], [(BDMAENDI)(CLA)], [(BHENDI)(PA)] and [(BDMAENDI)(PA)] were formed. Benesi-Hildebrand and its modification methods were applied to the determination of association constant (K), molar extinction coefficient (epsilon). The solid CT complexes have been synthesized and characterization by different spectral methods.

Abstract
The investigations aim at revealing the ability of a 1,8-napthalimide-modified poly(amidoamine) dendrimer from second generation to respond to the presence of cuprum cations and protons in the environment. It has been established that a single Cu(2+) cation present in the dendrimer molecule is capable of quenching more than 78% of its fluorescence what is an indication of high sensitiveness. An enhancement of the fluorescence emission of the dendrimer has been observed in acidic medium. It has been established that the processes of coordinating the ions in different sites of the dendrimer are reversible.
