Abstract
Copper complexes with 1,3-disubstituted thiourea derivatives, all containing 3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl tail and 1-alkyl/halogen-phenyl substituent, were synthesized. The experimental spectroscopic studies and theoretical calculation revealed that two ligands coordinate to Cu(II) in a bidentate fashion via thiocarbonyl S and deprotonated N atoms of thiourea moiety. Such monomers are characteristic of alkylphenylthiourea complexes, whereas the formation of a sandwich-type dimer is observed for halogeno derivatives. For the first time, the structural identifications of CuN2S2-based complexes using experimental and theoretical X-ray absorption near edge structure are demonstrated. The dimeric halogeno derivatives showed higher antimicrobial activity in comparison with alkylphenylthiourea complexes. The Cu(II) complex of 1-(4-chloro-3-nitrophenyl)-3-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]thiourea was active against 19 strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococci (MIC = 2 µg/mL). This derivative acted as a dual inhibitor of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV isolated from Staphylococcus aureus. Additionally, complexes of halogenphenylthiourea strongly inhibited the growth of mycobacteria isolated from tuberculosis patients, even fourfold stronger than the reference isoniazid. The complexes exerted weak to moderate antitumor activity (towards SW480, SW620, and PC3) being non-toxic towards normal HaCaT cells.

Abstract
Two novel ethanoanthracene-11,12-dicarbohydrazide derivatives N'11,N'12-bis((Z)-4-hydroxybenzylidene)-9,10-dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene-11,12-dicarbohydrazide (H2HEH) and N'11,N'12-bis((Z)-4-methoxybenzylidene)-9,10-dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene-11,12-dicarbohydrazide (H2MEH) were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, electronic spectra, and NMR spectroscopy. These two derivatives as novel anticorrosion inhibitors for N80 steel in a 3.5% NaCl solution were studied using electrochemical techniques including potentiodynamic polarization (PP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM). Corrosion parameters and adsorption isotherms were determined from current-potential diagrams (i.e., Tafel slopes). The impact of temperature and inhibitor concentration on the corrosion performance was studied using the PP method. The PP results suggested mixed-type inhibitors. The inhibition prohibition increased and decreased when the dose was increased and the temperature was increased, respectively. The adsorption of the hydrazides on the N80 exterior followed the Langmuir isotherm. The maximum inhibition proficiency for H2MEH and H2HEH were 93.3% and 92.2%, respectively, at 1 × 10-4 M. Moreover, the investigated surface was studied with the synthesized compounds through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to confirm the construction of an adsorbed shielding barrier. An evident association was established between the corrosion inhibition proficiency and theoretical variables acquired using the density functional theory (DFT) method and Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. The experimental data were in good agreement with the theoretical results.

Abstract
A new series of 2-amino-5-arylazothiazole derivatives has been designed and synthesized in 61–78% yields and screened as potential antibacterial drug candidates against the Gram negative bacterium Escherichia coli. The geometry of the title compounds were being studied using the Material Studio package and semi-core pseudopods calculations (dspp) were performed with the double numerica basis sets plus polarization functional (DNP) to predict the properties of materials using the hybrid FT/B3LYP method. Modeling calculations, especially the (EH-EL) difference and the energetic parameters revealed that some of the title compounds may be promising tools for further research work and the activity is structure dependent.

Abstract
A new series of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of (Z)-2-oxo-2-(phenylamino)-N'-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene)acetohydrazide (H2OPPAH) have been prepared and characterized by conventional techniques. The spectral data indicated that the ligand acts as neutral or mononegative NNO tridentate. On the basis of magnetic and electronic spectral data an octahedral geometry for Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes and a tetrahedral geometry for Co(II) complex have been proposed. The molecular modeling using DFT method are drawn showing the bond length, bond angle, chemical reactivity, energy components (kcal/mol) and binding energy (kcal/mol) for all title compounds. The Kinetic parameters were determined for each thermal degradation stages of the ligand and its complexes using Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger methods. Also, the compounds were screened for antioxidant activity using ABTS free radical, anti-hemolytic, and in vitro cytotoxic assay. H2OPPAH showed the potent antioxidant activity followed by Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes. On the other hand Ni(II) complex exhibited weak antioxidant activity using ABTS free radical and Erlich and strong erythrocyte hemolysis activity.

Abstract
Schiff base complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with (E)-3-(2-benzylidenehydrazinyl)-3-oxo-N-(p-tolyl)propanamide (H2BHAH) containing N and O donor sites were synthesized. Both ligand and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, thermal analysis (TG and DTG), spectroscopy ((1)H NMR, IR, UV-visible, MS spectra), and physical measurements (magnetic susceptibility and molar conductance). The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the different decomposition steps of some complexes were calculated using the Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger methods. Also, the DFT studying was evaluated to confirm the geometry of the investigated compounds. Moreover, the association and formation constants of Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions in mixed solvent at 290.15K were calculated by using electrical conductance. The antimicrobial activities of the ligand and its complexes were studied against gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, gram negative bacteria; Escherichia coli and pathogenic fungi; Candida albicans by using minimum inhibition concentrations method. The antioxidant (ABTS-derived free radical method) and cytotoxic (in vitro Ehrlich Ascites) activities of the isolated compounds were estimated.

Abstract
New Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes derived from tetradentate macrocyclic nitrogen ligand, (1E,4E,8E,12E)-5,8,13,16-tetramethyl-1,4,9,12-tetrazacyclohexadeca-4,8,12,16-tetraene (EDHDH) have been synthesized. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, spectral (IR, UV-Vis, (1)H NMR and ESR (for Cu(II) complex)) mass, and magnetic as well as thermal analysis measurements. The complexes afforded the formulae: [Cu(EDHDH)Cl2]·2EtOH and [M(EDHDH)X2]·nH2O where M=Co(II) and Ni(II), X=Cl(-) or OH(-), n=1,0, respectively. The data revealed an octahedral arrangement with N4 tetradentate donor sites in addition to two Cl atoms occupying the other two sites. ESR spectrum of Cu(2+) complex confirmed the suggested geometry with values of a α(2)and β(2) indicating that the in-plane σ-bonding and in-plane π-bonding are appreciably covalent, and are consistent with very strong σ-in-plane bonding in the complexes. The molecular modeling is drawn and showed the bond length, bond angle, chemical reactivity, energy components (kcal/mol) and binding energy (kcal/mol) for all the title compounds using DFT method. Also, the thermal behavior and the kinetic parameters of degradation were determined using Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger methods. Moreover, the in vitro antibacterial studies of all compounds screened against pathogenic bacteria (two Gram +ve and two Gram -ve) to assess their inhibiting potential. The assay indicated that the inhibition potential is metal ion dependent. The ligand, EDHDH, Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes exhibited a remarkable antibacterial activity against Streptococcus Pyogenes as Gram +ve and Proteus vulgaris as Gram -ve bacterial strains. On the other hand, Ni(II) complex revealed a moderate antibacterial activity against both Gram +ve organisms and no activity against Gram -ve bacterial strain.

Abstract
A new chelating agent, N'-(4-methoxybenzylidene)-2-oxo-2-(phenylamino)acetohydrazide (H2OMPH) and its complexes with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Hg(II) and U(IV)O2(2+) ions have been prepared and characterized by conventional techniques. The spectral data indicated that the ligand coordinates as neutral bidentate with Cu(II), Mn(II), U(IV)O2(2+) and Hg(II), neutral tridentate with Ni(II), mononegative tridentate with Co(II) and binegative tetradentate with Zn(II) ions. On basis of magnetic and electronic spectral data an octahedral geometry for Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and a square planar geometry for Cu(II) complex have been proposed and confirmed by applying geometry optimization and conformational analysis. The protonation constants of H2OMPH and the stepwise stability constants of its complexes are calculated at 298, 308 and 318 k as well as their thermodynamic parameters. Also, the Kinetic parameters (Ea, A, ΔH(*), ΔS(*) and ΔG(*)) were determined for each thermal degradation stage of some complexes using Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger methods. Moreover, the ligand and some complexes were screened for in vitro antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermalies (St. epid); Streptococcus pyagenies (Strp. py.) as Gram +ve bacteria and Escherichia coli (E. coli); Klebsiella spp. (kleb. spp.) as Gram -ve bacteria using inhibition zone diameter.

Abstract
A new series of complexes of Ni(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), Mn(II), Hg(II) and UO2(2+) derived from 2-acetylpyridine-α-naphthoxyacetylhydrazone (HA2PNA) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, spectral (IR, UV-visible, ESR and (1)H NMR) as well as magnetic and thermal measurements. The data revealed that the ligand acts as neutral NO, NN and NNO or mono-negative NNO chelate. On the basis of electronic spectral and magnetic moment data, an octahedral geometry is suggested for Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and UO2(2+) complexes and a square planar arrangement for Cu(II) complex. Abstract
The chelation behavior of 9,10-dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene-11,12-dicarbonyl) bis (N-ethylhydrazine-1-carbothioamide) (H6ETS)(1) towards Co(2+), Ni(2+)and Cu(2+) have been studied. The spectral data revealed that the ligand acts as a bi- and/or mono-negative multi-dentate. The isolated Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes are square-planar while the Co(II) is tetrahedral. EPR spectrum of Cu(II) complex confirmed simulated an axial spin-Hamiltonian exhibiting a four-line pattern with nitrogen super-hyperfine couplings originating from imine hydrazinic nitrogen atoms and possess a significant amount of tetrahedral distortion leading to a pseudo-square-planar geometry with unpaired electron has d(x(2)-y(2)) ground state. Also, the thermal behavior and kinetic parameters were determined. Furthermore, the title compounds were investigated for their antibacterial activity using inhibition zone diameter and for DNA degradation, superoxide-scavenging activity as well as hydroxyl radicals that generated by the oxidation of cytochrome c in L-ascorbic acid/CuSO4-cytochrome c system.

Abstract
Hg(II), Cd(II) and binuclear Zn(II) complexes derived from the tetradentate N(1)-ethyl-N(2)-(pyridine-2-yl) hydrazine-1, 2-bis (carbothioamide) ligand (H2PET) have been prepared and characterized by conventional techniques. The isolated complexes acquired the formulas, [Hg(HPET)(H2O)2Cl]⋅H2O, [Cd(HPET)Cl] and [Zn2(HPET)(PET)(OAc)]⋅H2O, respectively. IR data revealed that the ligand behaves as monobasic tridentate through (CN)py, (C-S) and new (NC)azomethine(∗) groups in both Hg(II) and Cd(II) complexes. In the binuclear Zn(II) complex, the behavior of ligand contains two types, where H2PET acts as dibasic tetradentate via (CN)py, both deprotonated (C-SH) and the new (NC)azomethine(∗) towards two Zn atoms and also it acts as monobasic tridentate via (CS), deprotonated (C-SH) and (CN)py towards the same Zn atoms. An octahedral geometry for Hg(II) complex and tetrahedral geometry for both Cd(II) and Zn(II) complexes were proposed. The bond lengths, bond angles, HOMO, LUMO and dipole moment have been calculated by DFT using materials studio program to confirm the geometry of ligand and its metal complexes. The association constant of the ligand and the stability constants of its complexes as well as the thermodynamic parameters were calculated by pH metric measurements at 298, 308 and 318K in 50% dioxane-water mixture, respectively. Also, the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters for the different thermal degradation steps of the complexes were determined by Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger methods. Moreover, the anti-oxidant (using ABTS and DPPH methods), anti-hemolytic, and cytotoxic activities of the compounds have been tested.

Abstract
A simple condensation of 3-amino-2-methylquinazoline-4-one with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde produced new tridentate ONO donor Schiff base ligand with efficient yield. The structural characterization of ligand and its Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) complexes were achieved by the aid of elemental analysis, spectral characterization such as (UV-visible, IR, NMR, mass, and ESR), and magnetic data. The analytical and spectroscopic studies suggest the octahedral geometries of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Mn(II) complexes and tetrahedral geometry of Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes with the tridentate ONO Schiff base ligand. Furthermore, the conclusions drawn from these studies afford further support to the mode of bonding discussed on the basis of their 3D molecular modeling studies by considering different bond lengths, bond angles, and bond distance. The ligand and its metal complexes evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (MTCC number 7443), Bacillus subtilis (MTCC number 9878), Escherichia coli (MTCC number 1698), Aspergillus niger (MTCC number 281), and Aspergillus flavus (MTCC number 277). The MIC of these compounds was found to be most active at 10 μ g/mL concentration in inhibiting the growth of the tested organisms. The DNA cleavage activity of all the complexes was studied by gel electrophoresis method.

Abstract
The chelating behavior of the ligand (H2APC) based on carbohydrazone core modified with pyridine end towards Cr(III), Mn(II) and Fe(III) ions have been examined. The (1)H NMR and IR data for H2APC revealed the presence of two stereoisomers syn and anti in both solid state and in solution in addition to the tautomeric versatility based on the flexible nature of the hydrazone linkage leading to varied coordination modes. The spectroscopic data confirmed that the ligand behaves as a monobasic tridentate in Cr(III) and Fe(III) complexes and as neutral tetradentate in Mn(II) complex. The electronic spectra as well as the magnetic measurements confirmed the octahedral geometry for all complexes. The bond length and angles were evaluated by DFT method using material studio program for all complexes. The thermal behavior and the kinetic parameters of degradation were determined using Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger methods. The antioxidant (DDPH and ABTS methods), anti-hemolytic and cytotoxic activities of the compounds have been screened. Cr(III) complex and H2APC showed the highest antioxidant activity using ABTS and DPPH methods. With respect to in vitro Ehrlich ascites assay, H2APC exhibited the potent activity followed by Fe(III) and Cr(III)complexes.
