Abstract
A new series of Cu (II) complexes were prepared using Schiff base ligand of N-N'-(1,2-diphenyl ethane-1,2-diylidene)bis(3-Nitrobenzohydrazide). The prepared ligand and Cu (II) complex were characterized using various physicochemical investigations such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), [Formula: see text] Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), [Formula: see text] NMR, Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM), and Z-Scan technique (Nonlinear optical (NLO) properties). In addition, the prepared samples have been examined for their NLO characteristics with the help of the Density Functional Theory calculations which proved that the Cu (II) Complex is more polarized than Ligand. According to XRD and FESEM results, the nanocrystalline nature of the samples is confirmed. The metal-oxide bond assigned in the functional studies by FTIR. Magnetic studies demonstrate weak ferromagnetic and paramagnetic nature for Cu (II) complex and diamagnetic nature for the ligand, respectively. DRS spectrum exhibited higher reflectance for Cu (II) than the ligand. The band gap energies of the synthesized samples were estimated by employing the Tauc relation and Kubelka-Munk theory on reflectance data and found to be 2.89 eV and 2.67 eV for Cu (II) complex and ligand, respectively. Extinction coefficient and refractive index values were calculated using the Kramers-Kronig method. The z-scan technique was applied to estimate the NLO properties by a 532 nm Nd:YAG laser.

Abstract
AbstractThis article describes an overview of the synthetic techniques and protocols for the preparation of new ligands and respective manganese (Mn) complexes to be tested for biomedical applications. Mn is an essential and biocompatible element, the complexes of which have diverse medicinal applications. The most significant use of Mn complexes is their application against reactive oxygen species in biological systems, and due to this, three Mn-incorporated complexes (AEOL-10150, EUK-134, and M40403) are already under clinical trials. Hence, the interest in synthesizing biologically active Mn complexes is rapidly increasing. Mn complexes are commonly synthesized using either water or ethanol as a reaction medium for their possible usage in biological systems. Using common Mn salts along with suitable organic ligand works well in the presence of little heat to obtain Mn complexes of interest.

Abstract
A copper complex of carmoisine dye; [Cu(carmoisine)2(H2O)2]; was synthesized and characterized by using physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. The binding of this complex with calf thymus (ct) DNA was investigated by circular dichroism, absorption studies, emission spectroscopy, and viscosity measurements. UV-vis results confirmed that the Cu complex interacted with DNA to form a ground-state complex and the observed binding constant (2× 10(4) M(-1)) is more in keeping with the groove bindings with DNA. Furthermore, the viscosity measurement result showed that the addition of complex causes no significant change on DNA viscosity and it indicated that the intercalation mode is ruled out. The thermodynamic parameters are calculated by van't Hoff equation, which demonstrated that hydrogen bonds and van der Waals interactions played major roles in the reaction. The results of circular dichroism (CD) suggested that the complex can change the conformation of DNA from B-like form toward A-like conformation. The cytotoxicity studies of the carmoisine dye and its copper complex indicated that both of them had anticancer effects on HT-29 (colon cancer) cell line and they may be new candidates for treatment of the colon cancer.

Abstract
A series of metal complexes of zinc(II), cadmium(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and palladium(II) have been synthesized from coumarin-imine ligand, 8-[(1E)-1-(2-aminophenyliminio)ethyl]-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-olate, [HL]. The structures of the complexes were proposed in the light of their spectroscopic, molar conductance, magnetic and thermal studies. The ligand coordinated in a tridentate manner through the azomethine nitrogen, the phenolic oxygen and the amine nitrogen and all complexes were non-electrolytes with different geometrical arrangements around the central metal ion. Photoluminescence data unambiguously showed remarkable fluorescence enhancement to Zn(2+) over other cations. The antimicrobial screening tests revealed that copper(II) complex exhibited the highest potency and its minimum inhibitory concentration on the enzymatic activities of the tested microbial species was determined. No toxin productivity was detected for all tested toxigenic species upon the exposure of copper complex.

Abstract
New asymmetrical tridentate Schiff base ligands were synthesized using 1,2-phenylenediamine, 4-methyl-1,2-phenylenediamine, 2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde, 9-anthracenecarboxaldehyde. Schiff base ligands and their metal complexes were synthesised and characterized by using FT-IR, (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, UV-Vis, XRD, ESR, elemental analysis and fluorescence studies. The antimicrobial activity of the ligands and their metal complexes were studied against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213, S. aureus ATCC 25923, Streptococcus mutans RSHM 676, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853. The determination of the antibacterial activity was done using the broth microdilution methods. In general, it has been determined that the studied compounds have MIC values similar to Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It has been found that Ni, Pb, Zn derivatives of HL1A and ZnL(2)A has lower MIC values than ampicillin for P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853 strain.

Abstract
Novel NNNN-donor μ-bis(bidentate) tetraaza acyclic Schiff base ligands with different substituents (CF(3), N(CH(3))(2) or OH groups) were synthesized by the condensation reaction of triethylenetetramine with 4-substituted benzaldehydes. Triethylenetetramine tris(4-trifluoromethylbenzylidene) (TTFMB), triethylenetetramine tris(4-dimethylaminobenzylidene) (TTDMB) and triethylenetetramine tris(2,4-dihydroxybenzylidene) (TTDHB) were formed as N(4) donor ligands. The formation of a five-membered imidazolidine ring from the ethylenediamine backbone as a spacer-cumbridging unit gives rise to a new type of imidazolidine ligand. The structure of the TTFMB and TTDMB were determined by single crystal X-ray crystallography. The synthesized ligands have been characterized on the basis of the results of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and spectroscopic studies viz. FT-IR spectroscopy (FT-IR), mass spectroscopy (MS) and UV-Vis spectroscopy (UV-Vis).
