Abstract
Herein, novel aroylhydrazone (E/Z)-N'-((3-methylpyridin-2-yl)methylene)isonicotinohydrazide ligand (MPIH) 3 and its Zn(ii)-MPIH complex 4 were synthesized and investigated to adsorb direct red 81 dye (DR-81) from aqueous media. MPIH was synthesized by the condensation reaction of isonicotinohydrazide with 3-methylpicolinaldehyde 2, then performed in a basic medium with zinc chloride to form Zn(ii)-MPIH complex. The synthesized MPIH ligand 3 and Zn(ii)-MPIH complex 4 were further characterized via proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), 13C nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV-visible, mass spectra analysis (EI MS), and elemental analysis. The synthesized MPIH ligand 3 and Zn(ii)-MPIH complex 4 were evaluated for their ability to decontaminate DR-81 from wastewater. The performance of MPIH ligand 3 to adsorb DR-81 from wastewater was lower than Zn(ii)-MPIH complex 4 over contact times of 180 minutes. The optimal dosage of the Zn(ii)-MPIH complex 4 was determined to be 1.0 g L-1 at pH 7, achieving 88.3% adsorption of 10 ppm DR-81 within 45 minutes. Thermodynamic analysis showed that the decontamination process was spontaneous and exothermic when using the fabricated Zn(ii)-MPIH complex 4. The kinetic parameters aligned well with the pseudo-second-order kinetics model, and the adsorption process was accurately described by the Freundlich isotherm. The adsorption data confirmed that the Zn(ii)-MPIH complex 4 is an effective adsorbent for DR-81 in aqueous solutions, demonstrating high stability, the ability to be recycled for up to seven cycles, and ease of regeneration.

Abstract
Five new nickel(II) complexes have been synthesised with an NNO donor tridentate aroylhydrazone (HFPB) employing the chloride, nitrate, acetate and perchlorate salts, and all the complexes are physiochemically characterized. Elemental analyses suggested stoichiometries as Ni(FPB)(NO3)]·2H2O (1), [Ni(HFPB)(FPB)]Cl (2), [Ni(FPB)(OAc)(DMF)] (3), [Ni(FPB)(ClO4)]·DMF (4), [Ni(FPB)2] (5). Aroylhydrazone is found coordinating in deprotonated iminolate form in four of the complexes (1, 3, 4, 5) however in one case (complex 2), two aroylhydrazone moieties are binding to the metal centre in the neutral and anionic forms. The structure of the bisligated complex 5, found using single crystal X ray diffraction studies confirmed that the metal has a distorted octahedral N4O2 coordination environment, with each of the two deprotonated ligands coordinating through the pyridine nitrogen, imino-hydrazone nitrogen and the enolate oxygen of the hydrazone moiety. To compare and study, the electronic interactions and stabilities of the metal complexes, various quantum chemical parameters were calculated. Moreover, Hirshfeld surface analysis was carried out for complex 5 to determine the intermolecular interactions. The biophysical attributes of the ligand and complex 5 have been investigated with CT-DNA and experimental outcomes show that the Ni(II) complex exhibited higher binding propensity towards DNA as compared to ligand. Furthermore, to specifically understand the type of interactions of the metal complexes with DNA, molecular docking studies were effectuated. In addition, the electronic and related reactivity behaviors of the ligand and five Ni(II) complexes were studied using B3LYP/6-31 + + G**/LANL2DZ level. As expected, the obtained results from Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) computations displayed that the resonance interactions (n → π* and π → π*) play a determinant role in evaluating the chemical attributes of the reported compounds.

Abstract
In an effort to better understand the biological efficacy of the tridentate aroyl hydrazone Cu(II) complexes, three Cu(II) complexes of acetylpyridine benzoyl hydrazone (HL), [Cu(L)(NO3) (H2O)]·H2O (C1), [Cu(L)2] (C2) and [Cu(L)(HL)]·(NO3)(Sas) (C3) (Sas=salicylic acid) were synthesized and characterized. X-ray crystal structures and infrared (IR) spectra of the complexes reveal that the L(-) ligand of C1 and C2 are predominantly in the enolate resonance form, while one L(-) ligand in C3 is represented enolate resonance form and the other HL ligand exhibits keto resonance form. All Cu(II) complexes showed significantly more anticancer activity than the ligand alone. Interestingly, the Cu complexes where the ligand/metal ratio was 1:1 (C1) rather than 2:1 (C2 and C3) had higher antitumor efficacy. Moreover, the 1:1 Cu/ligand complex, C1, promotes A549 cell apoptosis possibly through the intrinsic reactive oxygen species (ROS) mediated mitochondrial pathway, accompanied by the regulation of Bcl-2 family proteins.

Abstract
The binuclear molecule of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(19)H(14)N(3)O)(2)(CH(3)COO)(2)], resides on a crystallographic inversion centre. It has an E conformation with respect to the azomethine double bond and a Z conformation about the amide C=N bond. The Cu(II) atom has a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The crystal packing involves inter-molecular C-H⋯O, C-H⋯N and C-H⋯π and two types of π-π inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.9958 (10) and 3.7016 (13) Å.

Abstract
Six copper(II) complexes of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde nicotinoylhydrazone (H2hmbn), 2-hydroxy-4-methoxyacetophenone nicotinoylhydrazone (H2hman), 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde benzoylhydrazone (H2hmbb) and 2-hydroxy-4-methoxyacetophenone benzoylhydrazone (H2hmab) have been synthesized. The complexes viz. [Cu(hmbn)](2)·2H(2)O (1), [Cu(hman)](2) (2), [Cu(hmbb)](2)·2H(2)O (3), [Cu(hmbb)phen]·1(1/2)H2O (4), [Cu(hmbb)(bipy)·H2O] (5) and [Cu(hmab)phen] (6) were characterized by different physicochemical techniques. The crystal structure of [Cu(hman)phen] is obtained and it has a distorted square pyramidal geometry with π-π stacking interactions and significant C-H π interactions.
