Spectroscopic (FTIR and FT Raman) analysis and vibrational study on 2,3-dimethyl naphthalene using ab-initio HF and DFT calculations

Vibrational spectroscopic analysis of 2, 3:4,5-Bis-O-(1-methylethylidene)beta-D-fructopyranose Sulfamate(Topiramate) by density functional method

2,3:4,5-Bis-O-(1-methylethylidene)-beta-D- fructopyranose sulfamate otherwise called as Topiramate is a drug used for the treatment of alcohol dependence. Topiramate is a safe and consistently efficacious medication for treating alcohol dependence. The spectroscopic properties of Topiramate are investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), Fourier Transform Raman (FT-Raman), Fourier Transform Nuclear magnetic Resonsnce(FT-NMR) andUltra Violet Visible (UV-visible) spectroscopic techniques. The FTIR, FT-Raman, FT-NMR and UV-visible spectra of Topiramate have been recorded and analyzed. Theoretical vibrational frequencies, geometric parameters, thermodynamic properties, Natural population analysis and Mulliken atomic charges of Topiramateare obtained by the Restricted Hartree-Fock (RHF) and density functional theory (DFT) using 6-31 + G(d,p) basis set. The calculated harmonic vibrational frequencies for Topiramate are compared with the experimental values of FTIR and FT-Raman spectra. The observed and the calculated frequencies are found to be in good agreement. Stability of the molecule arising from hyperconjugative interactions and charge delocalization has been analysed using natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. The first-order hyperpolarizability (βtot) and other related properties such as dipole moment(µ), polarizability(αo)values of the investigated molecule are computed using HF and DFT/B3LYP with 6-31 + G(d,p) basis set. The calculated results also show that the Topiramate molecule may have microscopic nonlinear optical (NLO) behaviour.

Structural and Magnetic Properties of Potassium-Doped 2,3-DiMethylnaphthalene

The development of potential magnetic materials in metal-doped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons has been a research hotspot in recent years. Here we have successfully synthesized stable potassium-doped 2,3-dimethylnaphthalene samples. The combination of first-principles calculations and XRD results identifies that doping of potassium into 2,3-dimethylnaphthalene forms a monoclinic structure with a molar ratio of 1:2 between potassium and molecule. The red shifts in the Raman spectra indicate that potassium 4s electrons are transferred to the organic molecules. The magnetic measurements show that the doped materials exhibit a temperature-independent magnetization in the temperature region of 1.8–300 K, which is consistent with the Pauli paramagnetic behavior. This is distinct from the diamagnetism of pristine material. Compared to the previous focus on benzene ring structure, our study of aromatic hydrocarbon derivatives of benzene ring opens a new route for the development of this field.

Characterization of 1,5-dimethoxynaphthalene by vibrational spectroscopy (FT-IR and FT-Raman) and density functional theory calculations

In this work, we reported a combined experimental and theoretical study on molecular structure, vibrational spectra and natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis of 1,5-dimethoxynaphthalene. The optimized molecular structure, atomic charges, vibrational frequencies and natural bond orbital analysis of 1,5-dimethoxynaphthalene have been studied by performing DFT/B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level of theory. The FTIR, FT-Raman spectra were recorded in the region of 4000-400 cm(-1) and 3500-50 cm(-1) respectively. The scaled wavenumbers are compared with the experimental values. The difference between the observed and scaled wavenumber values of the most fundamentals is very small. The formation of hydrogen bond was investigated in terms of the charge density by the NBO analysis. Natural Population Analysis (NPA) was used for charge determination in the title molecule. Besides, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), frontier molecular orbitals (FMO) analysis were investigated using theoretical calculations.

Natural bond orbital analysis, electronic structure and vibrational spectral analysis of N-(4-hydroxyl phenyl) acetamide: a density functional theory

The Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and FT-Raman spectra of N-(4-hydroxy phenyl) acetamide (N4HPA) of painkiller agent were recorded in the region 4000-450 cm(-1) and 4000-50 cm(-1) respectively. Density functional theory (DFT) has been used to calculate the optimized geometrical parameter, atomic charges, and vibrational wavenumbers and intensity of the vibrational bands. The computed vibrational wave numbers were compared with the FT-IR and FT-Raman experimental data. The computational calculations at DFT/B3LYP level with 6-31G(d,p), 6-31++G(d,p), 6-311G(d,p) and 6-311++G(d,p) basis sets. The complete vibrational assignments were performed on the basis of the potential energy distribution (PED) of the vibrational modes calculated using Vibrational energy distribution analysis (VEDA 4) program. The oscillator's strength calculated by TD-DFT and N4HPA is approach complement with the experimental findings. The NMR chemical shifts 13C and 1H were recorded and calculated using the gauge independent atomic orbital (GIAO) method. The molecular electrostatic potential (MESP) and electron density surfaces of the molecule were constructed. The Natural charges and intermolecular contacts have been interpreted using Natural Bond orbital (NBO) analysis the HOMO-LUMO energy gap has been calculated. The thermodynamic properties like entropy, heat capacity and zero vibrational energy have been calculated.

Conformational analysis, UV-VIS, MESP, NLO and NMR studies of 6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene

The detailed HF and B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) comparative studies on the complete FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of 6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene [MTHN] have been studied. In view of the special properties and uses, the present investigation has been undertaken to provide a satisfactorily vibrational analysis of 6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene. Therefore, a thorough Raman, IR, molecular electrostatic potential (MESP), non-linear optical (NLO) properties, UV-VIS, HOMO-LUMO and NMR spectroscopic investigation are reported complemented by B3LYP theoretical predictions with basis set 6-311++G(d,p) to provide novel insight on vibrational assignments and conformational stability of MTHN. Potential energy surface scans (PES) of the CH3 group are undertaken to shed light on the rather complicated conformational interchanges in the compound under investigation.
