Abstract
Pharmaceutical effluents are a serious environmental issue, which require to be treated by a suitable technique; thus, the electrochemical process is actively considered as a viable method for the treatment. In this work, new carbon paste electrodes (CPEs) were fabricated by compressing gold and silver nanoparticles (NPs), namely, CPE/Ag NPs, CPE/Au NPs, and CPE/Ag/Au NPs and then completely characterized by different analytical methods. The performance of the electrodes was studied after determining their surface area (×10-6 cm2) as 4.17, 5.05, 5.27, and 5.12, producing high anodic currents for K4[Fe(CN)6] compared to the commercial electrode. This agrees with the results of impedance study, where the electron transfer rate constants (kapp, ×10-3 cm s-1) were determined to be 28.7, 42.6, 41.0, and 101.4 for CPE, CPE/Ag NPs, CPE/Au NPs, and CPE/Ag/Au NPs, respectively, through the Bode plot-phase shifts. This is consistent with the charge transfer resistance (RCT, Ω), resulting as 171 for CPE/Ag/Au NPs < 395 for CPE/Ag NPs < 427 for CPE/Au NPs and < 742 for CPE. Therefore, these electrodes were employed to detect trimethoprim (TMP) since metallic NPs contribute good crystallinity, stability, conduciveness, and surface plasmon resonance to the CPE, convalescing the sensitivity; comprehensively, they were applied for its detection in real water and human urine samples, and the limit of detection (LOD) was as low as 0.026, 0.032, and 0.026 μmol L-1 for CPE/Ag NPs, CPE/Au NPs, and CPE/Ag/Au NPs, respectively. In contrast, unmodified CPE was unable to detect TMP due to the lack of efficiency. The developed technique shows excellent electrochemical recovery of 92.3 and 97.1% in the urine sample. Density functional theory (DFT) was used to explain the impact of the metallic center in graphite through density of states (DOS).

Abstract
Some platinum oxime complexes are optimized at HF/CEP-31G level which has been reported as the best level for these type complexes in the gas phase. IR spectrum is calculated and the new scale factor is derived. NMR spectrum is calculated at the same level of theory and examined in detail. Quantum chemical parameters which have been mainly used are investigated and their formulas are given in detail. Additionally, selected quantum chemical parameters of studied complexes are calculated. New theoretical IC50% formulas are derived and biological activity rankings of mentioned complexes are investigated.

Abstract
A new platinum(II) complex with the amino acid L-tryptophan (trp), named Pt-trp, was synthesized and characterized. Elemental, thermogravimetric and ESI-QTOF mass spectrometric analyses led to the composition [Pt(C11H11N2O2)2]⋅6H2O. Infrared spectroscopic data indicate the coordination of trp to Pt(II) through the oxygen of the carboxylate group and also through the nitrogen atom of the amino group. The (13)C CP/MAS NMR spectroscopic data confirm coordination through the oxygen atom of the carboxylate group, while the (15)N CP/MAS NMR data confirm coordination of the nitrogen of the NH2 group to the metal. Density functional theory (DFT) studies were applied to evaluate the cis and trans coordination modes of trp to platinum(II). The trans isomer was shown to be energetically more stable than the cis one. The Pt-trp complex was evaluated as a cytotoxic agent against SK-Mel 103 (human melanoma) and Panc-1 (human pancreatic carcinoma) cell lines. The complex was shown to be cytotoxic over the considered cells.

Abstract
The discrete mixed [TeBrxCl6-x](2-) anions in their disordered crystal structures have been identified by using the phases prepared by the reaction of 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium halogenides (bdmim)X with tellurium tetrahalogenides TeX4 (X=Cl, Br) as examples. Homoleptic (bdmim)2[TeX6] [X=Cl (1), Br (2)] and mixed (bdmim)2[TeBr2Cl4] (3), and (bdmim)2[TeBr4Cl2] (4) are formed depending on the choice of the reagents, and their crystal structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The coordination environments of tellurium in all hexahalogenidotellurates are almost octahedral. Because of the crystallographic disorder, the mixed [TeBr2Cl4](2-) and [TeBr4Cl2](2-) anions in 3 and 4 cannot be identified in their crystal structures. Pawley refinement of the X-ray powder diffraction patterns of 1-4 indicates the presence of single phases in all four products. The solid state Raman spectra of 1-4 were assigned with help of DFT calculations that were performed both for the discrete anions in vacuum and for the complete crystal structures employing periodic boundary conditions. The fundamental vibrations of the homoleptic [TeX6](2-) (X=Cl, Br) anions could be well reproduced by the solid-state DFT computations and enabled a complete assignment of the Raman spectra. While the presence of cis-isomers in both [TeBr2Cl4](2-) and [TeBr4Cl2](2-) could be inferred by the computed fundamental vibrations, that of trans-isomers among the reaction products is, however, also possible. The pathway of the formation of [TeX4Y2](2-) isomers from TeX4 and Y(-) (X, Y=Cl, Br) was also explored by DFT calculations both in vacuum and in solution and indicated that both reactions afforded 80 mol% of cis-isomers and 20 mol% of trans-isomers.

Abstract
The molecular geometry, theoretical harmonic frequencies and infrared intensities of 4-(2,3,4-trihydroxybenzylideneamino) antipyrine (THBAP) were calculated using different density functional methods (LSDA, mPW1PW91, B3LYP and HCTH) with various basic sets, including 3-21G, 6-311G, LanL2DZ, and SDD. The purpose of this research is to compare the performance of different density functional theory (DFT) methods at different basis sets in predicting geometry and vibration spectrum of THBAP. The optimized geometric band lengths and bond angles obtained by using mPW1PW91 at both LanL2DZ and SDD basic sets show the best agreement with the experimental data. A comparison between the observed fundamental vibrational frequencies of THBAP and the calculated results has been made and the result indicates that the mPW1PW91/6-311G level is superior to all the remaining levels for predicting all the vibration spectra on average for THBAP.
