Abstract
To estimate the biological preference of synthetic small drugs towards DNA target, new metal based chemotherapeutic agents of nano-sized Cr(III), Fe(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) Schiff base complexes having N,N,O donor system were synthesized and thoroughly characterized by physic-chemical techniques. The redox behavior of the Cr(III), Fe(II) and Co(II) complex was investigated by electrochemical method using cyclic voltammetry. IR results proven that the tridentate binding of Schiff base ligand with metal center during complexation reflects the proposed structure. Magnetic and spectroscopic data give support to octahedral geometry for Cr(III) and Fe(II) complexes and tetrahedral geometry for Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes. The activation thermodynamic parameters, such as, E(⁎), ΔH(⁎), ΔS(⁎) and ΔG(⁎) are calculated using Coats-Redfern method by analyzing the TGA data. The particle size of the investigated metal complexes was estimated by TEM. In addition to, the interaction of the nanosized complexes with CT-DNA was estimated by electronic absorption, viscosity and gel electrophoresis. These techniques revealed that the complexes could bind to CT-DNA through intercalation mode. Moreover, the in vitro cytotoxic and antiviral activities of the nanosized complexes were checked against Herpes Simplex virus and Tobacco Mosaic viruses. Moreover, investigation of antioxidant activities of the new nanosized compounds was done by ABTS assay. Among the compounds tested, Fe(II) complex showed the strongest potent radical scavenging activity with percent of 58.60%. Furthermore, the antimicrobial bustle of the prepared compounds was screened against different types of bacteria and fungi and the results show that all metal complexes have superior activity than its free ligand.

Abstract
A new Schiff base ligand was synthesized by reaction of salicylaldehyde with 1,6-bis(4-chloro-2-aminophenoxy)hexane. Then the Schiff base complexes were synthesized by metal salts and the Schiff base. The metal to ligand ratio of metal complexes was found to be 1:1. The Cu(II) complex is proposed to be square planar and the Co(II), Ni(II), Mn(II) and Zn(II) complexes are proposed to be tetrahedral geometry. The Ti(III) and V(III) complexes are proposed to be a capped octahedron in which a seventh ligand has been added to triangular face. The complexes are non-electrolytes as shown by their molar conductivities (ΛM). The structure of metal complexes is proposed from elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV-vis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity measurements, Mass Spectra and thermal gravimetric analysis. In addition antimicrobial and antioxidant studies, cyclic voltammetry of the complexes, theoretical 1H NMR and HOMO-LUMO energy calculations of the new di-functional ligand were done.

Abstract
A simple condensation of 3-amino-2-methylquinazoline-4-one with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde produced new tridentate ONO donor Schiff base ligand with efficient yield. The structural characterization of ligand and its Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) complexes were achieved by the aid of elemental analysis, spectral characterization such as (UV-visible, IR, NMR, mass, and ESR), and magnetic data. The analytical and spectroscopic studies suggest the octahedral geometries of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Mn(II) complexes and tetrahedral geometry of Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes with the tridentate ONO Schiff base ligand. Furthermore, the conclusions drawn from these studies afford further support to the mode of bonding discussed on the basis of their 3D molecular modeling studies by considering different bond lengths, bond angles, and bond distance. The ligand and its metal complexes evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (MTCC number 7443), Bacillus subtilis (MTCC number 9878), Escherichia coli (MTCC number 1698), Aspergillus niger (MTCC number 281), and Aspergillus flavus (MTCC number 277). The MIC of these compounds was found to be most active at 10 μ g/mL concentration in inhibiting the growth of the tested organisms. The DNA cleavage activity of all the complexes was studied by gel electrophoresis method.

Abstract
New bis (pyridylurea) ligand, H2L, was synthesized by the reaction of ethylpyridine-2-carbamate (EPC) and p-phenylenediamine. The ligand was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, (1)H NMR, electronic and mass spectra. Reaction of the prepared ligand with Co(2+), Ni(2+), Cu(2+), Fe(3+), VO(2+) and UO2(2+) ions afforded mono, bi- and trinuclear metal complexes. Also, new mixed ligand complexes of the ligand H2L and 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) with Co(2+), Ni(2+), Cu(2+) and Fe(3+) ions were synthesized. The ligand behaves as bi- and tetradentate toward the transition metal ions, coordination via the pyridine N, the carbonyl O and/or the amidic N atoms in a non, mono- and bis-deprotonated form. The complexes were characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, IR, electronic and mass spectra as well as conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The results showed that the metal complexes exhibited different geometrical arrangements such as square planar, tetrahedral, octahedral and square pyramidal arrangements. The Coats-Redfern equation was used to calculate the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters for the different thermal decomposition steps of some complexes. 3D molecular modeling of the ligand, H2L and a representative complex were studied.

Abstract
A series of new VO(IV) complexes with two new tetradentate Schiff base of 4,4'-(2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diyl)-bis(azan-1-yl-1-yldene)dipent-2-en-2-ol) [H(2)L(1)] and 3,3'-(2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diyl)azan-1-yl-1-ylidene)-bis(1-phenylbut-1-en-1-ol) [H(2)L(2)] (which have been derived from 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropan, and diketones of acetylacetone and benzoylacetone) were synthesized and characterized by (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, FT-IR, mass and UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The electrochemical properties of the vanadyl complexes were investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry. The oxidation potentials are increased by increasing the electron-withdrawing properties of functional groups of the Schiff base ligands according to the trend of Me<Ph. The thermogravimetry (TG) and differential thermoanalysis (DTA) of the VO(IV) complexes were carried out in the range of 20-700°C. The complexes were decomposed in two stages. Also, decomposition of the synthesized complexes is related to the Schiff base characteristics. The thermal decomposition of the studied reactions was first order. The kinetic parameters for the decomposition steps in vanadyl complexes thermograms have been calculated.

Abstract
New series of Schiff base ligand H(2)L and their Cu(II) and Mn(II) complexes derived from azosulfapyrimidine were synthesized and characterized by elemental and thermal studies conductance measurements IR, electronic and EPR spectra. 3D modeling of the ligand indicate that azo group does not participate in complex formation and surface potential on one of the ligand under study indicate that electron density around azomethine groups are much higher than the azo group therefore coordination takes place around azomethine groups. The variety in the geometrical structures depends on the nature of both the metal ions and the Schiff base ligands. The thermo kinetic parameters are calculated and discussed. The biological activities of the ligands and complexes have been screened in vitro against some bacteria and fungi to study their capacity to inhibit their growth and to study the toxicity of the compounds.

Abstract
A series of tetraaza (N(4) donor) macrocyclic ligands (L(1)-L(4)) were derived from the condensation of o-phthalaldehyde (OPA) with some substituted aromatic amines/azide, and subsequently used to synthesize the metal complexes of Ru(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II). The structures of macrocyclic ligands and their metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, (1)H &(13)C NMR, mass and electronic spectroscopy, thermal, magnetic and conductance measurements. Both the ligands and their complexes were screened for their antibacterial activities against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria by MIC method. Besides, these macrocyclic complexes were investigated as catalysts in the oxidation of pharmaceutical drug didanosine. The oxidized products were further treated with sulphanilic acid to develop the colored products to determine by spectrophotometrically. The current oxidation method is an environmentally friendly, simple to set-up, requires short reaction time, produces high yields and does not require co-oxidant.
