Abstract
In this study, 4-phenylthiazol-2-yl-(phenylhydrazono) acetonitrile (PTPA) azo dye was synthesized and studied from optical and electrical point of view. The tautomerization phenomenon of the PTPA dye was clarified using one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) nuclear magnetic resonance (1HNMR and 13C NMR), absorbance (UV-Vis), emission, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). X-ray diffraction (XRD) evaluations were indicated that PTPA in powder and thin films crystallizes in a monoclinic system structure with nonstructural characteristics. Spectrophotometric measurements of absorbance A (λ), transmittance T (λ) and reflectance R (λ) at normal incidence light in the wavelength range 200-2500 nm were used to determine the optical band gap, extinction coefficient, k and refractive index, n. Also, non-linear optical parameters such as the third order non-linear susceptibility, χ(3) and nonlinear refractive index, n(2) of PTPA have revealed an awe-inspiring switching behavior, implying the possibility of using PTPA in optical switching systems. Finally, the electrical conductivity of the PTPA was shown to increase with rising temperature, indicating that it is a typical organic semiconductor. Mott's parameters were determined and discussed at low temperatures. Thus, PTPA is a promising organic semiconductor with broad utility potential in organic electronics such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).

Abstract
A series of disazobenzo[c]cinnoline dyes was prepared by coupling reaction of 3,8-dihydroxybenzo[c]cinnoline with diazotised aromatic amines. The structures of these dyes were confirmed using UV-Vis, FTIR, 1H NMR, LC-MS/MS and LC-MS/TOF spectroscopic techniques. 13C NMR, 13C-DEPT, 1H-1H COSY, 1H-13C HMQC and 1H-13C HMBC spectra of dye 12 were demonstrated in this study. In addition, the effects of the substituent attached to the phenyl ring, solvent and acid-base on the UV-Vis spectra of the dyes were investigated. Besides, voltammetric and spectroelectrochemical behaviours of four disazobenzo[c]cinnolines (2, 8, 11 and 13) in acetonitrile (ACN) solution were also evaluated. It was observed that the disazobenzo[c]cinnoline derivatives indicated reversible voltammetric behaviour in acetonitrile-tetrabutylammonium perchlorate (ACN-TBAP) solution. A square-wave potential step method coupled with optical spectroscopy was used to probe switching times and optic contrast of the dyes.

Abstract
Solvents as complex environments can induce considerable effects on the physical, chemical and biological properties of solute molecules. In this work, solvent polarity sensitive characteristics of two tautomers of different azo compounds were studied by using of spectroscopic and Z-scan techniques. In this case, nature and various molecular interactions contribution on the spectral behaviors of azo and hydrazone forms of selected samples were investigated by Kamlet-Abboud-Taft and Catalan models. Moreover, the obtained results of Z-scan indicate that self-defocusing, saturable and reverse saturable absorption features of azo dyes depend highly on substituents and molecular environment polarity characteristic. In this case, media polarity properties have the same effects on the third order nonlinear absorption coefficient and nonlinear refractive index values. Therefore, by measuring one of the third order nonlinear optical coefficients, it is possible to predict solvent polarity effects on the other nonlinear optical coefficient. The calculated dipole moments with high values in the molecular excited state also reveal the probability of molecular charge transfer characteristics. In this case, by excitation process, sample I indicate high dipole moment values in comparison to other samples. Therefore, the results can give useful information about the application of selected samples for designing various optical devices.

Abstract
The present study deals with designing and synthesizing novel dyes using the drug combination of edaravone and azo compounds which can be used as an indicator for anions and cations. The desired product synthesis was accomplished via a two-step process involving diazotizing the aromatic amines followed by the resultant salts coupling with edaravone. The resulting dyes were obtained with high yields under mild conditions. The structures of the dyes were identified with UV-vis, FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra and CHN analysis. To investigate the solvatochromism effect, the interaction of different solvents with the selected dyes was evaluated using several parameters including the dielectric constant, refractive index, hydrogen bond donating ability, hydrogen bond accepting ability and dipolarity/polarizability scale. To achieve deep understanding about the stability and geometrical characteristics of the azo–hydrazo tautomers of the synthesized dyes and their UV-visible spectra prediction, some DFT calculations were also carried out on the synthesized dyes. The antibacterial activities of some synthesized compounds were also evaluated using the disk diffusion method. The results revealed different activity of the selected synthesized dyes for antibacterial tests against selected Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. The present study deals with designing and synthesizing novel dyes using the drug combination of edaravone and azo compounds which can be used as an indicator for anions and cations.![]()

Abstract
The present study was designed to investigate the inhibitory effect of 2,4 bis-[(4-ethoxyphenyl)azo] 5-(3-hydroxybenzylidene) thiazolidine-2,4-dione (TZD-OCH2CH3) on the cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in RAW 264.7 cells. The effects of TZD-OCH2CH3 on COX-2 and iNOS mRNA expression in LPS-activated RAW 264.7 cells were detected by real time PCR. Also, to understand structure and substrate specificity, we have utilized molecular docking simulations (AutoDock Vina) and the active residues in the binding pocket were determined from COX-2 and iNOS. The treatment of RAW 264.7 cells with TZD-OCH2CH3 significantly inhibited LPS-induced COX-2 mRNA expression, corresponding to 46.1% and 61.06% at 30 and 60 μg/mL, respectively. The present study revealed that the TZD-OCH2CH3 had a little effect on iNOS mRNA expression. Meanwhile, the TZD-OCH2CH3 also could inhibit the production of NO compared to single LPS-stimulated cell. According to the results obtained, TZD-OCH2CH3 dramatically suppressed lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced nitric oxide (NO) production after 24 h, in a concentration-dependent manner with an IC50 of 65 μg/mL. Our data suggest that TZD-OCH2CH3, as a functionally novel agent, inhibits the inflammatory pathway via suppression of COX-2 mRNA expression and also by the inhibition of the iNOS activity. Therefore, this compound could be suggested as a novel therapeutic strategy for inflammation-associated disorders.

Abstract
A new series of azodye ligands 5-chloro-3-hydroxy-4-(aryldiazenyl)pyridin-2(1H)-one (HLn) were synthesized by coupling of 5-chloro-3-hydroxypyridin-2(1H)-one with aniline and its p-derivatives. These ligands and their Ru(III) complexes of the type trans-[Ru(Ln)2(AsPh3)2]Cl were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, (1)H NMR and UV-Visible spectra as well as magnetic and thermal measurements. The molar conductance measurements proved that all the complexes are electrolytes. IR spectra show that the ligands (HLn) acts as a monobasic bidentate ligand by coordinating via the nitrogen atom of the azo group (NN) and oxygen atom of the deprotonated phenolic OH group, thereby forming a six-membered chelating ring and concomitant formation of an intramolecular hydrogen bond. The molecular and electronic structures of the investigated compounds (HLn) were also studied using quantum chemical calculations. The calf thymus DNA binding activity of the ligands (HLn) and their Ru(III) complexes were studied by absorption spectra and viscosity measurements. The mechanism and the catalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol by trans-[Ru(Ln)2(AsPh3)2]Cl with hydrogen peroxide as co-oxidant were described.

Abstract
Six novel push-pull azo disperse dyes were synthesized via classical azo coupling reaction using 2-amino-thiazolyl derivatives as the diazo components and 1-(4-bromobenzyl)-4-phenylpiperazine as a key coupling intermediate. The structures of the dyes and synthesized intermediate were confirmed by FT-IR, (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR and UV-vis analyses. The solvatochromic behavior of the dyes was studied in a set of 10 solvents of different polarity and considerable results were obtained. The prepared heterocyclic azo dyes were applied for dyeing polyester fibers and their dyeing properties were studied. The fastness properties of the dyed fabrics such as wash, light and rubbing fastness degrees were measured by standard methods. Investigation of antioxidant activity of compounds was carried out by ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) method. The synthesized dyes exhibited significant antioxidant activities.

Abstract
Para-arsanilic acid (p-ASA) has been widely used in the poultry industry to promote growth and prevent dysentery. It is excreted unchanged in the manure and released into non-target sites causing organoarsenic pollution risk to the environment and living system. Therefore, simple and effective analytical strategies are demanded for determining the samples that contain p-ASA. However, direct determination of both p-ASA and ortho-arsanilic acid (o-ASA) using differential pulse cathodic stripping voltammetry (DPCSV) gives the similar voltammograms that directly hamper the analysis used by the DPCSV technique. In this study, a method to determine and differentiate p-ASA from o-ASA via diazotization and coupling reaction of the amine groups followed by the direct DPCSV determination of diazo compounds is presented. The diazotization reaction carried out at pH 1.5 and 0 ± 1°C for 10 min showed two reduction peaks in DPCSV at-70 mV and -440 mV vs. Ag/AgCl (KCl 3 M). However, when the diazotization reaction was performed at pH 12.5 and 0 ± 1°C for 40 min, a coloured azo compound was produced and the DPCSV showed only one reduction peak that appeared at -600 mV vs. Ag/AgCl (3 M of KCl). The results of this study show that only p-ASA compound gave a reduction peak, whereas o-ASA compound did not give any peak. The detection limit of p-ASA was found to be 4 × 10(-8 )M. As a result, the proposed electro-analytical technique might be a good candidate to determine and differentiate the p-ASA present in the poultry and environmental samples.
