Abstract
A series of thiosemicarbazone (TSCN) compounds including ((E)-2-((E)-1-(2-(p-tolyl)hydrazono)propan-2-ylidene)hydrazine-1-carbothioamide (TSC1), (E)-N-ethyl-2-((E)-1-(2-(p-tolyl)hydrazono)propan-2-ylidene)hydrazine-1-carbothioamide (TSC2), and (E)-N-phenyl-2-((E)-1-(2-(p-tolyl)hydrazono)propan-2-ylidene)hydrazine-1-carbothioamide) (TSC3) were synthesized and fully characterized by diverse spectroscopies, such as X-ray single-crystal, infrared, mass, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, and ultraviolet-visible. Potentiometric measurements, molecular modeling, and biological and antitumor activity screening were studied. The thermodynamics and protonation constants of TSC1 as a representative of the synthesized TSCs were calculated and discussed. The solution speciation of different species was studied with pH. The molecular parameters of the optimized structures were calculated and discussed. The X-ray single crystals of TSC2 and TSC3 were established. Considering the antimicrobial activities and correlating structure-activity relationship of the synthesized compounds, the TSC1 molecule was considered a promising candidate as an antifungal agent against Candida albicans. Thus, it would be extremely helpful in the field of medicinal chemistry, particularly as an antimicrobial agent. The results are of significance to the chemistry of antimicrobial agents.

Structural, theoretical and biological activity of mono and binuclear nickel(II) complexes with symmetrical and asymmetrical 4,6-diacetylresorcinol-dithiocarbazate ligands. J Inorg Biochem 2021; 224:111559. Abstract
The present work reports the synthesis and a structural study of two novel dithiocarbazate, the 4,6-diacetylresorcinol-S-benzyldithiocarbazate (H3L1) and the 4,6-diacetylresorcinol-bis(S-benzyldithiocarbazate) (H4L2), and their Ni(II) complexes, [Ni(HL1)(Py)] (1) and [Ni2(L2)(PPh3)2] (2). Single crystal X-ray analyzes reveal mono and binuclear complexes and the metal centers with distorted square planar geometry. The analyses of the Hirshfeld surface and fingerprints plots revealed intermolecular contacts attributed to the H···H and C···H/H···C bonds. The Density Functional Theory (DFT), with the B3LYP functional and 6-311-G(d,p)/LanL2DZ basis sets, was employed to optimize the geometries of synthesized compounds. From the resulting geometries, the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital maps (HOMO-LUMO), orbital energy gap, electron localization function (ELF), electron density, natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, and complexation of the ligands with Ni(II) were calculated supporting the experimental data. The ESI (+)-MS/MS data indicated the presence in solution of the characteristic fragmentation with the [H3L1]+ and [H4L2]+ molecular ions for the ligands. The pharmacological potential of the dithiocarbazate ligands and their Ni(II) complexes were evaluated in vitro against MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells. A remarkable cytotoxic activity was observed, more evident for free ligands than complexes at low concentrations; however, this latter showed a better dose-response pattern, being more attractive in terms of pharmacokinetics and therapeutic window.

Abstract
Reaction of N,N'-(cyclohexane-1,2-diylidene)bis(4-fluorobenzohydrazide), C20H18F2N4O2, (LF), with zinc chloride and mercury(II) chloride produced different types and shapes of neutral coordination complexes, namely, dichlorido[N,N'-(cyclohexane-1,2-diylidene)bis(4-fluorobenzohydrazide)-κ2N,O]zinc(II), [ZnCl2(C20H18F2N4O2)], (1), and dichlorido[N,N'-(cyclohexane-1,2-diylidene)bis(4-fluorobenzohydrazide)-κ4O,N,N',O']mercury(II), [HgCl2(C20H18F2N4O2)], (2). The organic ligand and its metal complexes are characterized using various techniques: IR, UV-Vis and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopies, in addition to powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), single-crystal X-ray crystallography and microelemental analysis. Depending upon the data from these analyses and measurements, a typical tetrahedral geometry was confirmed for zinc complex (1), in which the ZnII atom is located outside the bis(benzhydrazone) core. The HgII atom in (2) is found within the core and has a common octahedral structure. The in vitro antibacterial activities of the prepared compounds were evaluated against two different bacterial strains, i.e. gram positive Bacillus subtilis and gram negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. The prepared compounds exhibited differentiated growth-inhibitory activities against these two bacterial strains based on the difference in their lipophilic nature and structural features.

Abstract
This article describes the synthesis of novel bidentate Schiff base (H2L) from condensation of 2-amino-4-phenylthiazole (APT) with 4,6-diacetylresorcinol (DAR) in the molar ratio 2:1. We studied interaction of ligand (H2L) with transition metal ions such as Cr(III), Fe(III), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II). The ligand (H2L) has two bidentate sets of (N-O) units which can coordinate with two metal ions to afford novel binuclear metal complexes. The directions of coordinate bonds are from nitrogen atoms of azomethine groups and oxygen atoms of the phenolic groups. Structures of the newly synthesized complexes were confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, UV, (1)H NMR, ESR, TGA and mass spectral data. All of the newly synthesized complexes were evaluated for their antibacterial and anti-fungal activities. They were also evaluated for their in vitro anticancer activity against human colon carcinoma cells (HCT-116) and mammalian cells of African green monkey kidney (VERO). The Cu(II) complex with selectivity index (S.I.)=21.26 exhibited better activity than methotrexate (MTX) as a reference drug with S.I. value=13.30, while Zn(II) complex with S.I. value=10.24 was found to be nearly as active as MTX. Molecular docking studies further helped in understanding the mode of action of the compounds through their various interactions with active sites of dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) enzyme. The observed activity of Fe(III) and Cu(II) complexes gave rise to the conclusion that they might exert their action through inhibition of the DHFR enzyme.
