Abstract
Quantum chemical calculations of 3-aminosalicylic acid (3ASA) (monomer and dimer forms) have been performed using DFT and TD-DFT theories with B3LYP/6-311 G(d,p) functional level in the ground and excited states. Using TD-DFT with IEF-PCM model, the electronic spectra of 3ASA in solvents were computed and correlated with the experimental data. The theoretically calculated absorption and emission maxima of 3ASA (monomer) are observed in the range of 343 - 347 nm (S0 → S1 transition) and 429 - 448 nm (S1 → S0 transition), respectively. The natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis shows that charge transfer interaction contributes significantly to stabilize the molecular system. In the case of dimer, hydrogen bonding plays a dominant role in stabilizing the molecular framework. Additionally, the obtained nonlinear optical (NLO) properties: polarizability (13.86 × 10-24 e.s.u for monomer and 29.46 × 10-24 e.s.u. for dimer), first-order hyperpolarizability (4.21 × 10-30 e.s.u for monomer and 0.18 × 10-30 e.s.u for dimer) and second-order hyperpolarizability (7.44 × 10-36 e.s.u. for monomer and 14.32 × 10-36 e.s.u. for dimer) were found to be larger than those of standard organic compounds suggesting that 3ASA has a significant NLO character for optoelectronic applications. The NLO properties of dimer may differ from monomer due to dimerization. Further, the radiative lifetime, light harvesting efficiency and band gap energy were calculated, and proposed that 3ASA may be useful in photovoltaics and wide bandgap power devices. HIGHLIGHTS: • DFT and TD-DFT theories were employed to calculate structural and molecular properties of 3ASA (monomer and dimer) in ground and excited states. • HOMO-LUMO study shows monomer and dimer of 3ASA are good reactive. • NBO analysis reflects that charge transfer interactions stabilized the 3ASA molecule. • Electronic absorption/emission spectra in solvents calculated by IEF-PCM/TD-DFT method correlate with experimental results. • Calculated NLO parameters suggested that 3ASA is a potential candidate for NLO material.

Abstract
In our work to investigate the photophysical, antioxidant, antibacterial, DFT and topological analysis of four C-alkyl calix[4]resorcinarenes (3a-3d - C4RAs). The photophysical properties of C4RAs in selected solvents were recorded using both UV-Visible and fluorescence spectral studies. The absorption and emission maximum of four C4RAs were observed around 280 nm and 318 nm in selected solvents. The solvatochromism with selected solvents were analysed from the plot between Stoke's shift and ETN. The antioxidant activity and antibacterial activity of four C4RAs were evaluated by phosphomolybdate assay and Kirby-Bauer method. The structure of four C4RAs was optimized using DFT B3LYP 6-311G method to calculating the various theoretical parameters in the gas phase. The stability, reactivity, formation of hydrogen bond, donor-acceptor interactions were reported from the interpretation of theoretical values. The non-covalent interactions of four C4RAs were characterized by LOL and ELF topological analysis.

The solvatochromism and photophysical properties of C4RAs in different solvents were recorded in both UV-Visible and fluorescence spectral studies. The total antioxidant capacity and antibacterial activity of four C4RAs were evaluated by phosphomolybdate assay and kirby-bauer method. Theoretical parameters such as HOMO, LUMO, energy gap and Mulliken atomic charges and NBO were optimized by DFT B3LYP 6-311G method. From the results of HOMO and LUMO energies were used to determine the theoretical parameters of four C4RAs. The nucleophilic and electrophilic substitution reactivity of four C4RAs were analyzed by molecular electrostatic potential map analysis. Natural bonding orbital analysis was used to determine the intramolecular charge transfer within the energy difference between acceptor and donor orbitals. The non-covalent interactions of four C4RAs were characterized by LOL and ELF topological analysis.

Abstract
In this study, a new alkylaminophenol compound was synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic techniques (FT-IR, NMR, UV). The optimized molecular geometry and the vibrational wavenumbers were calculated using density functional theory (DFT) B3LYP/WB97XD and HF methods with 6-311++ G([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]) basis set. Thus, theoretical data were compared within themselves before comparing with experimental data. The detailed interpretation of the vibrational spectra has been carried out by VEDA program. 1H-NMR and [Formula: see text]C-NMR chemical shifts of the compound were calculated using GIAO/IEFPCM method in CDCl3. Using time-dependent (TD-DFT) approach electronic properties such as HOMO and LUMO energies, the electronic spectrum of the title compound has been studied and reported. Stability of the molecule arising from hyper conjugative interactions, charge delocalization has been analyzed using natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. Linear polarizability, anisotropic linear polarizability and hyperpolarizability values of the title compound were found to be higher than the values of the pNA compound that are used as a standard substance in the NLO analysis. Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), the thermodynamic properties (heat capacity, entropy and enthalpy) were calculated. Also, to investigate the biological properties of the title compound, molecular docking was done with DNA(PDB ID: 414D). It has been observed that the effective interaction is hydrogen bonds.

Abstract
Dinitrosalicylic acid-functionalized chitosan, CHN-DNSA, was developed and improved the adsorption property against chromium Cr(VI) and/or Rhodamine B (RHB). Here, the disposal of wastewater bearing Cr(VI) and RHB from a complex system was ascribed to significant differences in physicochemical properties. The constructed CHN-DNSA surface charge is responsible for different interactions enabling simultaneous capture of pollutants. The excellent adsorption potency of Cr(VI) at pH 3.0 was 98.4% within a remarkable 1 h and the adsorption performance was 91.1% for RHB. The ionic strength was affected, reducing the removal % of Cr(VI) to 36.7% whereas 0.1 M NaCl meliorated the removal efficiency from 91.6 to 96.2% for RHB and from 82.3 to 89.1% for a binary system. Also, the exploited elimination process of Cr(VI) and/or RHB obeyed the 2nd model of kinetics and the Freundlich system. Good recovery, superior capacity, and synthetic approach make this protocol promising for wastewater treatment.

Abstract
To obtain a healthy human being with beneficial microflora against different pathogenic infections, classical antibiotics with nanosized biomaterials were used to inhibit the growth of bacterium by their potent synergistic effect. Hence, this study planned to load an oxazolidinone antibiotic named linezolid (LD) onto functionalized chitosan (CN) with 3, 5- dinitrosalyslic acid (DA) via microwave synthesis without harsh condition. The exploring synergistic effect of linezolid (LD) with CN/DA controllable nanostructure was compact efflux-mediated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) burden and other selected bactericide Gram-positive ((S. aureus), Gram-negative (E. coli), Fungi (C. albicans), Yeast (A. niger), and E. faecalis. The obtained results showed that LD was incorporated into both the internal and external surface of the aggregated CN/DA nanosystem with an average diameter of 150 nm ± 4 hints of the drug loading. Owing to the nature of functionalized CN, the release efficiency attains 98.4% within 100 min. The designed LD@CN/DA exhibited inhibition zone 54 mm, 59 mm, 69 mm, 54 mm, 57 mm, and 24 mm against the tested microbes respectively rather than individual LD. The major target of the current research is achieved by using LD@CN/DA as a nanoantibiotic system that has exceptional consistently active against multi-resistant pathogens, in between MRSA which resist LD. Also, cell viability was performed even after three days of direct cell culture on the surface of the designed nanoantibiotic. The mechanism of microbial inhibition was correlated and rationalized to different charges and the presence of oxygen species against microbial infections. Our findings provide a deep explanation about nanostructured antibiotics design with enhanced potentially pathogen-specific activity.

Abstract
A new N3S2 pentadentate Schiff base ligand derived from 5-bromothiophene-2-carbaldehyde, (E)-N1-((5-bromothiophen-2-yl)methylene)-N2-(2-((E)-((5-bromothiophen-2-yl)-methylene amino) ethyl ethane-1,2-diamine, is prepared. The ligand and its complexes are subjected to extensive physical and theoretical analyses and the results are consistent with their predicted compositions. Dicationic Cu(ii) complexes ([CuN3S2]X2) with a coordination number of 5 are proposed on the basis of the spectral data with N3S2 serving as a pentadentate ligand. The prepared complexes display a square pyramidal geometry around the Cu(ii) center. TG shows different thermal behavior for the N3S2 ligand and its complexes. Solvatochromism of the complexes is promoted by the polarity of the solvent used. A one-electron transfer Cu(ii)/Cu(i) reversible redox reaction is promoted by CV. SEM and EDS of the free ligand and its complexes support the morphology and composition changes observed upon the complexation of Cu(ii). As an outstanding goal to develop anticancer new metal chemotherapy, preliminary studies of the binding of the desired complexes with DNA were carried out, as it is through judging the strength of interactions that a future drug can be designed and synthesized. The viscosity and absorption results obtained for complex 1 indicated its enhanced CT-DNA binding properties as compared to those of complex 2 with Kb values of 3.2 × 105 and 2.5 × 105 M−1, respectively. Abstract
1,4,7-Triazacyclononane-1,4,7-triacetic acid (NOTA) is a key bifunctional chelator utilized for the complexation of metal ions in radiopharmaceutical applications; the ability of these chelators depends on the strength of their binding with ions. The focus of the present work is to evaluate the complexation of Cu2+, Ga3+, Sc3+, and In3+ radiometal ions with NOTA using density functional theory (B3LYP functional) and 6-311+G(2d,2p)/DGDZVP basis sets. The significant role of ion-water interactions in the chelation interaction energies in solution reflects the competition between ion-water and NOTA-ion interaction in the chelation process. There is reasonable agreement between experimental and theoretical binding constants, geometries, and 1H NMR chemical shifts. Chelation interaction energies, Gibbs free energies, and entropies in solution show that the NOTA-Ga3+ and NOTA-Cu2+ are the most and least stable complexes, respectively. The natural atomic charges and second order perturbation analysis reveal charge transfer between NOTA and radiometal ions. The theoretical 1H NMR chemical shifts of NOTA are in good agreement with experiment; these values are influenced by the presence of the ions, which have a deshielding effect on the protons of NOTA. Global scalar properties such as EHOMO/ELUMO, ΔELUMO-HOMO, and chemical hardness/softness confirm that the NOTA-Cu2+ complex, which has a singly occupied molecular orbital, has the lowest ΔELUMO-HOMO value, the least chemical hardness, and the highest chemical softness. The significant variation of the hardness and ΔELUMO-HOMO values of the complexes can be attributed to the different positions of the metal ions on the periodic table. This study affirms that, among the radiometal ions, Ga3+ can be used to effectively radiolabel NOTA chelator for radiopharmaceutical usage as it binds most stably with NOTA.

Abstract
1, 4, 7, 10-tetraazacyclododecane-1, 4, 7, 10-tetracetic acid (DOTA) is an important chelator for radiolabeling of pharmaceuticals. The ability of alkali metals found in the body to complex with DOTA and compete with radio metal ions can alter the radiolabeling process. Non-covalent interactions between DOTA complexed with alkali metals Li+, Na+, K+ and Rb+, are investigated with density functional theory using B3LYP and ωB97XD functionals. Conformational possibilities of DOTA were explored with a varying number of carboxylic pendant arms of DOTA in close proximity to the ions. It is found that the case in which four arms of DOTA are interacting with ions is more stable than other conformations. The objective of this study is to explore the electronic structure properties upon complexation of alkali metals Li+ Na+, K+ and Rb+ with a DOTA chelator. Interaction energies, relaxation energies, entropies, Gibbs free energies and enthalpies show that the stability of DOTA, complexed with alkali metals decreases down the group of the periodic table. Implicit water solvation affects the complexation of DOTA-ions leading to decreases in the stability of the complexes. NBO analysis through the natural population charges and the second order perturbation theory, revealed a charge transfer between DOTA and alkali metals. Conceptual DFT-based properties such as HOMO/LUMO energies, ΔEHOMO-LUMO and chemical hardness and softness indicated a decrease in the chemical stability of DOTA-alkali metal complexes down the alkali metal series. This study serves as a guide to researchers in the field of organometallic chelators, particularly, radiopharmaceuticals in finding the efficient optimal match between chelators and various metal ions.
