Abstract
In this study, we reported a colorimetry and SERS dual-mode sensing of serotonin (5-HT) based on functionalized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Based on the amino and hydroxyl groups in 5-HT can react with dithiobis succinimidyl propionate (DSP) and N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NALC) respectively, we synthesized two kinds of functionalized AuNPs (DSP-AuNPs and NALC-AuNPs). A double interaction between functionalized nanoparticles and the hydroxyl and the amino group of serotonin led to interparticle-crosslinking aggregation. The aggregation of the two functionalized AuNPs can cause the plasmon coupling of AuNPs resulting in a color change visible to the naked eye and the enlargement of SERS "hot spot" area and the enhancement of SERS signal. Furthermore, two kinds of functionalized AuNPs can specifically recognize 5-HT and effectively reduce the interference of biomolecules with similar structure to 5-HT in the experiment. This dual-mode system has the advantages of low detection limit, high sensitivity and good selectivity, and the detection limit is 0.15 nmol L-1. Besides, the system was applied to the determination of 5-HT content in human serum, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was lower than 3.75%, which indicated that the system had a good application prospect in the determination of biological samples.

Abstract
The present work deals with the conformational and vibrational spectroscopic study of an important bio-molecule named norepinephrine in gas phase. The FTIR and FTRaman spectrum of norepinephrine in amorphous form were recorded in wavenumber range 4000-400 cm-1 and 4000-50 cm-1 respectively. We have investigated twenty-seven stable conformational structures of norepinephrine molecule. All the calculations have been done using Density Functional Theory with exchange functional B3LYP incorporated with the 6-31++G(d, p) basis set. The effect of hydrochloride on different bond lengths, bond angles and dihedral angles in the most stable conformer has also been studied. The total potential energy distribution for both the most stable conformer and the most stable conformer in hydrochloride was performed with the help Normal coordinate analysis method. Most of the calculated vibrational frequencies are in good agreement with the experimental frequencies. The natural bond orbital analysis was also performed to ensure the stability of electronic structures of norepinephrine. To know chemical reactivity of norepinephrine molecule we have calculated the energy gap between HOMO and LUMO orbitals and it has found above 5 eV in all the conformers.

Abstract
Structural and vibrational studies for the most stable conformer of dopamine {4-(2-Aminoethyl) benzene-1, 2-diol} have been carried out at the DFT/B3LYP/6-311++G** level using the Gaussian 09 software. The IR and Raman spectra have been recorded and analyzed in light of the computed vibrational parameters using the DFT and the PEDs computed with the help of the GAR2PED software. Some of the fundamentals have considerably changed frequencies in going from benzene to dopamine. Except the rocking and wagging modes of the NH2 group the other four modes are pure group modes. The rocking and wagging modes of the NH2 group show mixing with the other modes. The two OH stretching vibrations are highly localized modes. The Kekule phenyl ring stretching mode is found to remain almost unchanged. The HOMO-LUMO study suggests the existence of charge transfer within the molecule and the energy gap supports the pharmacological active property of the dopamine molecule. The NBO analysis has been carried out to understand the proper and improper hydrogen bonding.
