Abstract
Paper-based cultural relics often undergo acidification and deterioration during long-term preservation. Accurate detection of paper acidity is of great significance to assess aging status and extend the preservation lifetime of paper-based cultural relics. Rapid identification of the acidification degree and acid distribution across multiple regions of paper is essential. Inspired by fluorescent sensing technology, pH-sensitive cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (QDs) and rhodamine B (RB) fluorescent probes are synthesized and incorporated onto the nanofibers of a bacterial cellulose (BC) membrane to enable visual acidity detection of paper. Due to the complementary pH detection range of CdTe QDs and RB probes, the composite BC membrane exhibits a clear pH response across an acidic to neutral range (pH 3.0-7.5). Notably, the contrasting fluorescent colors of the two probes within the BC membrane allow for easy visualization of paper pH and acidity distribution with the naked eyes. A distinct color transition from red to green was observed on the fluorescent BC membrane when it is applied to a model paper with a gradient pH distribution. The feasibility of this method was verified by using the flat-headed pH electrode method. Additionally, common metal ions in most paper fillers, inks, pigments, as well as some sugars and amino acids showed minimal interference with the pH response of the composite BC membrane, highlighting its potential and broad applicability for visual acidity detection in paper-based cultural relics.

A novel 100% aqueous solution near-infrared ratiometric fluorescent CN- probe based on 1,4-dihydropyridines, with a large fluorescent emission peak shift. Talanta 2021; 225:122100. Abstract
1,4-Dihydropyridines are a class of drugs with a wide range of biological activities and pharmacological effects. However, there are few reports on its optical activity, especially its application on fluorescent CN- probe. In this experiment, we designed and synthesized a fluorescent probe based on 1,4-dihydropyridines to detect CN-. Interestingly, the probe exhibited outstanding properties such as 100% water soluble, near infrared, ratiometric, fast response, high selectivity and anti-interference ability for other ions. The color change indicated that the probe can be used for naked eye identification. In particular, the probe showed a super large fluorescent emission peak shift (260 nm). In addition, the reaction mechanism of the probe has been studied by 1H NMR titration, high resolution mass spectrometry and theoretical calculations.

Abstract
On base of the good optical properties of coumarin and fluorescein, we designed and synthesized two coumarin/fluorescein-fused fluorescent dyes (CF dyes), which enlarged the emission wavelength and increased the Stokes shift of fluorescein moiety. The corresponding optical properties of CF dyes were investigated in detail. CF dyes could easily introduce other groups to design different functional molecules. CF dyes also exhibited rapid and sensitive responses to pH values in the range of 4.0-7.4 through the characterization of absorption and fluorescence spectra in buffer solution. More importantly, CF ethyl ester dye (CFE dye) not only showed good cell membrane permeability and low cytotoxicity, but also had the ability to rapidly monitor mitochondrial pH changes in living cells.
