Abstract
We present the preparation of CoCu bimetallic nanoclusters (Co@Cu-BNCs) by a hydrothermal and one-step pyrolysis method to build a colorimetric and electrochemical dual-mode sensing platform for uric acid (UA) detection. In the presence of H2O2, Co@Cu-BNCs with peroxidase-mimicking activity may convert colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to blue-colored oxidized TMB (oxTMB). However, due to the inhibitory effect of uric acid (UA) on the oxidation process of TMB, the characteristic absorption peak intensity of oxTMB decreased when UA was added into a mixed solution. In this approach, a colorimetric assay platform for the detection of UA was demonstrated, with a linear range of 0.1-195 μM and a low limit of detection of 0.06 μM (S/N ratio of 3). In addition, an even wider detection range is achieved in the electrochemical method, due to the pronounced electrocatalytic activity of Co@Cu-BNCs. The surface of the glassy carbon electrode was modified with Co@Cu-BNCs to build an electrochemical sensor for detecting UA. The sensor achieves a wider linear range from 2 to 1000 μM and a limit of detection of 0.61 μM (S/N ratio of 3). Moreover, the detection of UA in a human serum sample showed satisfactory results. The results proved that the colorimetric and electrochemical dual-mode detection platform was sensitive, convenient and accurate.

Abstract
Although light-responsive nanozyme have been widely used in colorimetric sensing, some limitations such as poor catalytic activity, low detection efficiency, and unclear structure-activity relationships remain unresolved. Herein, we prepared an excellent light-responsive peroxidase (POD) mimic, perylenediimide (PDI-OH) modified SiO2 @TiO2 yolk-shell spheres (SiO2 @TiO2/PDI-OH), based on DFT-assisted design. The experiment and DFT calculation revealed that the enhanced POD-like activity was mainly attributed to a suitable built-in electric field among adjacent PDI-OH molecules on the surface of the SiO2 @TiO2 and the unique yolk-shell structure with more reaction sites of SiO2 @TiO2. Consequently, the highly selective and ultrasensitive detection of H2O2 is achieved with a detection limit (LOD) of 7.6 × 10-8M. Further, the selective detection of sarcosine with LOD of 1.2 × 10-7 M was also achieved by introducing sarcosine oxidase (SOx). This colorimetric assay is successfully applied to selectively detect H2O2 and sarcosine levels in real samples. Controlled response time, anti-interference, and the robustness of the developed colorimetric sensor are the key advantages. And the present work firstly clarifies the effect of PDIs substituents on the POD-like activity of light-responsive nanozymes and provided new guidelines to develop high-performance nanozymes for hazardous substances detection.

Abstract
Determining the concentration of glutathione is crucial for developing workable medical diagnostic strategies. In this paper, we developed an electrochemical sensor by electrodepositing amino-based reactive groups and gold–platinum nanomaterials on the surface of glassy carbon electrode successively. The sensor was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS). Results showed that Au@Pt nanoparticles with the size of 20–40 nm were presented on the surface of electrode. The sensor exhibits excellent electrocatalytic oxidation towards glutathione. Based on this, we devised an electrochemical biosensor for rapid and sensitive detection of glutathione. After optimizing experimental and operational conditions, a linear response for the concentration of GSH, in the range of 0.1–11 μmol/L, with low detection and quantification limits of 0.051 μM (S/N = 3), were obtained. The sensor also exhibits superior selectivity, reproducibility, low cost, as well as simple preparation and can be applied in human serum sample detection.

Abstract
Dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) is a heparin polysaccharide, whose overuse would cause many adverse effects, such as stiff and painful joints and loss of hair. It is crucial to search after a rapid and accurate approach for the determination of DSS in the clinical treatment and diagnosis. Regrettably, there are few literatures about analytical methods for detecting DSS at present. In this research, a sensitive and selective method for detecting DSS based on the hydrosoluble perylene diimide (PDI) derivative was established in pure aqueous solution. The sensing mechanism and performance of PDI-PdEC were systematically investigated by ultraviolet and fluorescence spectroscopy. Non-covalent interactions between DSS and PDI-PdEC, like π-π stacking, electrostatic and hydrophobic interaction, promote the aggregation of PDI-PdEC and form supramolecular aggregates, which realize the sensitive and rapid detection of DSS in aqueous system. The detection limit for DSS is as low as 5.51 ng/mL and the linear range is 20-500 ng/mL. Furthermore, this probe was triumphantly applied in the detecting of DSS in serum. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first fluorescent probe for detecting DSS in aqueous media. We consider that our study will not only broaden the range of applications of perylene diimide fluorescent sensors, but also provide valuable reference for the design of new sensors for the rapid determination method of DSS.

Abstract
Glutathione is an important biological molecule which can be an indicator of numerous diseases. A method for self-powered detection of glutathione levels in solution has been developed using an enzymatic biofuel cell. The device consists of a glucose oxidase anode and a bilirubin oxidase cathode. For the detection of glutathione, the inhibition of bilirubin oxidase leads to a measurable decrease in current and power output. The reported method has a detection limit of 0.043 mM and a linear range up to 1.7 mM. Being able to detect a range of concentrations can be useful in evaluating a patient’s health. This method has the potential to be implemented as a quick, low-cost alternative to previously reported methods.

Abstract
Strenuous efforts have been made to develop nanozymes for achieving the performance of natural enzymes to broaden their application in practice, but the fabrication of high-performance and biocompatible nanozymes via facile and versatile approaches has always been a great challenge. Here, sponge-like casein-CuS hybrid has been facilely synthesized in the presence of amphiphilic protein-casein through a simple one-step approach. Casein-CuS hybrid exhibits substrates-dependent peroxidase-like activity. Casein-CuS hybrid exhibits well peroxidase-like activity with 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and 1,2-diaminobenzene (OPD) as substrates, and the affinity of OPD towards the hybrid nanozyme is much higher than that of TMB. More importantly, due to the high affinity of OPD and the well biocompatibility of the hybrid nanozyme, a superior enzyme cascade for glucose based on the well cooperative effect of casein-CuS hybrid and glucose oxidase is developed. The proposed glucose sensor exhibits a wide linear range of 0.083 to 75 μM and a detection limit of 5 nM. This suggests the promising utilization of protein–metal hybrid nanozymes as robust and potent peroxidase mimics in the medical, food and environmental detection fields. Strenuous efforts have been made to develop nanozymes for achieving the performance of natural enzymes, but the fabrication of high-performance and biocompatible nanozymes via facile and versatile approaches has always been a great challenge.![]()
