A strategic approach for the synthesis of new porphyrin rings, attractive for heme model purpose

Optimization of signal amplification by reversible exchange for polarization of tridentate chelating bis[(2-pyridyl)alkyl]amine

Signal amplification by reversible exchange (SABRE) is an effective NMR hyperpolarization technique for signal enhancement using para-hydrogen on iridium catalysts. To date, monodentate chelating nitrogen analogs have been predominantly used as substrates for SABRE because of the limited chelating sites of the Ir-catalyst with different molecular orientations. Herein, for the first time, the use of a tridentate chelating ligand (BPEA) containing pyridine moieties and a secondary amine as a SABRE substrate is demonstrated. For the optimization of the tridentate chelating ligand, alkyl chain lengths were varied with the optimization of the external magnetic field and concentrations of three different ligands. Because many chemically multidentate complexes present in nature have scarcely been studied as SABRE substrates, this optimized tridentate chelating ligand structure with the SABRE catalyst and its polarization transfer from para-hydrogen will broaden the scope of hyperpolarizable substrates and help in the investigation of chelating structures for future applications.

Modular Synthesis of trans-A2 B2 -Porphyrins with Terminal Esters: Systematically Extending the Scope of Linear Linkers for Porphyrin-Based MOFs

Differently functionalized porphyrin linkers represent the key compounds for the syntheses of new porphyrin-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which have gathered great interest within the last two decades. Herein we report the synthesis of a large range of 5,15-bis(4-ethoxycarbonylphenyl)porphyrin derivatives, through Suzuki and Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions of an easily accessible corresponding meso-dibrominated trans-A2 B2 -porphyrin with commercially available boronic acids or terminal alkynes. The resulting porphyrins were fully characterized through NMR, MS, and IR spectroscopy and systematically investigated through UV/Vis absorption. Finally, selected structures were saponified to the corresponding carboxylic acids and subsequently proven to be suitable for the synthesis of surface-anchored MOF thin films.

A synthetic approach of new trans-substituted hydroxylporphyrins

The synthesis of new trans A₂B₂-substituted porphyrins bearing oxygenic substituent (methoxy, acetoxy, hydroxy) at the periphery of the ring are described. All of the synthesized products were characterized by ¹H-N.M.R., ¹³C-N.M.R., and H.R.M.S. Electrochemical studies revealed two one-electron oxidations and two reductions. In addition, the X-ray structure of one methoxy-derivative was determined.
