Abstract
An iodophor-catalyzed sulfenylation of indoles using sulfonyl hydrazides as sulfur source to synthesize 3-sulfenylindoles in aqueous phase has been achieved. Notably, iodophor as catalyst and solvent is inexpensive, commercially available and no innocuous to the environment. The method is also easy to operate. Moreover, the synthetic strategy features a wide range of substrates with excellent tolerance to diverse functional groups. A plausible mechanism for the iodophor-mediated 3-sulfenylation of indoles with sulfonyl hydrazides has been proposed. In addition, 3-(phenylthio)-1H-indole was obtained on a multi-gram scale.

Abstract
Incorporation of the highly lipophilic trifluoromethanesulfenyl group into bioactive molecules facilitates transport through lipid membranes, and thus, CF3S-containing compounds are important for drug discovery. Although reagents and procedures have been reported for arene trifluoromethylthiolation, methods are still required that are applicable to a diverse substrate scope and can be performed under mild conditions. Here, we describe a rapid and efficient approach for the trifluoromethylthiolation of arenes by catalytic activation of N-trifluoromethylthiosaccharin using a combination of iron(III) chloride and diphenyl selenide. This dual catalytic process allowed regioselective functionalization of a wide range of arenes and N-heterocycles under mild conditions and was used for the trifluoromethylthiolation of bioactive compounds such as tyrosine and estradiol.

Abstract
We report a metal-free trifluoromethylthiolation and trifluoromethylselenolation of 1,4-dihydropyridines with S-(trifluoromethyl) 4-methylbenzenesulfonothioate and Se-(trifluoromethyl) 4-methylbenzenesulfonoselenoate under visible light irradiation. This transformation was tolerated with a wide range of functional groups and provided an alternative and green strategy for the synthesis of trifluoromethylthioesters and trifluoromethylselenoesters.

Abstract
Trifluoromethyl sulfoxides are a new class of trifluoromethylthiolating reagent. The sulfoxides engage in metal-free C-H trifluoromethylthiolation with a range of (hetero)arenes. The method is also applicable to the functionalization of important compound classes, such as ligand derivatives and polyaromatics, and in the late-stage trifluoromethylthiolation of medicines and agrochemicals. The isolation and characterization of a sulfonium salt intermediate supports an interrupted Pummerer reaction mechanism.
