Abstract
Progress in microwave (MW) energy application technology has stimulated remarkable advances in manufacturing and high-quality applications of ionic liquids (ILs) that are generally used as novel media in chemical engineering. This Review focuses on an emerging technology via the combination of MW energy and the usage of ILs, termed microwave-assisted ionic liquid (MAIL) technology. In comparison to conventional routes that rely on heat transfer through media, the contactless and unique MW heating exploits the electromagnetic wave-ions interactions to deliver energy to IL molecules, accelerating the process of material synthesis, catalytic reactions, and so on. In addition to the inherent advantages of ILs, including outstanding solubility, and well-tuned thermophysical properties, MAIL technology has exhibited great potential in process intensification to meet the requirement of efficient, economic chemical production. Here we start with an introduction to principles of MW heating, highlighting fundamental mechanisms of MW induced process intensification based on ILs. Next, the synergies of MW energy and ILs employed in materials synthesis, as well as their merits, are documented. The emerging applications of MAIL technologies are summarized in the next sections, involving tumor therapy, organic catalysis, separations, and bioconversions. Finally, the current challenges and future opportunities of this emerging technology are discussed.

Abstract
Tuberculosis is one of the leading causes of death of at least one million people annually. The deadliest infectious disease has caused more than 120 million deaths in humans since 1882. The cell wall structure of Mycobacterium tuberculosis is important for survival in the host environment. InhA is the foremost target for the development of novel anti-tubercular agents. Therefore, we report pharmacophore-based virtual screening (ZINC and ASINEX databases) and molecular docking study (PDB Code: 4TZK) to identify and design potent inhibitors targeting to InhA. A five-point pharmacophore model AADHR_1 (with R2 = 0.97 and Q2 = 0.77) was developed by using 47 compounds with its reported MIC values. Further, to identify and design potent hit molecules based on lead identification and modification, generated hypothesis employed for virtual screening using ZINC and ASINEX databases. Predicted pyrazole derivatives further gauged for drug likeliness and docked against enoyl acyl carrier protein reductase to categorize the essential amino acid interactions to the active site of the enzyme. Structure elucidation of these synthesized compounds was carried out using IR, MS, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. Amongst all the synthesized compounds, some of the compounds 5a, 5c, 5d and 5e were found to be potent with their MIC ranging from 2.23 to 4.61 µM. Based on preliminary anti-tubercular activity synthesized potent molecules were further assessed for MDR-TB, XDR-TB and cytotoxic study.

Abstract
A sustainable and cost-effective protocol has been reported for the synthesis of amide bonds from unactivated esters and non-nucleophilic amines promoted by potassium tert -butoxide under aerobic conditions. The reaction proceeds under relatively mild conditions, encompassing wide substrate scope. A combined experimental and quantum chemical study has been performed to shed light on the mechanism, which implied that a radical pathway is operating for the present protocol.

Abstract
Efficient, eco-friendly and sustainable access to 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones directly from alcohols under microwave and solvent-free conditions has been reported. The practical protocol involves heteropolyanion-based catalyzed oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes with NaNO₃ as the oxidant followed by cyclocondensation with dicarbonyl compounds and urea or thiourea in a two-step, one-pot manner. Compatibility with different functional groups, good to excellent yields and reusable catalysts are the main highlights. The utilization of alcohols instead of aldehydes is a valid and green alternative to the classical Biginelli reaction.

Abstract
Catalytic ring-opening of bio-sourced non-strained lactones with aromatic amines can offer a straightforward, 100 % atom-economical, and sustainable pathway towards relevant N-aryl amide scaffolds. Herein, the first general, metal-free, and highly efficient N-aryl amide formation is reported from poorly reactive aromatic amines and non-strained lactones under mild operating conditions using an organic bicyclic guanidine catalyst. This protocol has high application potential as exemplified by the formal syntheses of drug-relevant molecules.
