Abstract
Aluminium ions (Al3+) are widely present in industries and daily life and are closely related to human health and environmental protection. Therefore, it is crucial to detect their concentration. In this paper, a convenient and reliable small molecule fluorescent probe based on a dicyanoisophorone Schiff base and 2-pyridinecarbohydrazide has been developed. The probe is capable of selectively detecting Al3+ with the advantages of near-infrared emission (maximum emission wavelength of 625 nm), good selectivity, high sensitivity (detection limit of 2.18 × 10-7 M) and fast response time (15 s). It has good potential for rapid detection and visual tracking of Al3+ in aqueous solutions and plant bodies.

Abstract
In this research, an "off-on" long-wavelength fluorescent probe (DCMN-Cl) based on (E)-2-(3-(2-(6-hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)vinyl)-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-en-1-ylidene) malononitrile (DCMN) is designed and synthesized for cysteine (Cys) detection. DCMN-Cl exhibits a large Stokes shift (211 nm) and shows rapid response and high specificity to Cys. The fluorescence initensity at 635 nm reveals a good linear relationship with Cys concentration in the 0 to 50 μM range, and the detection limit is as low as 159 nM. The probe is also used for fluorescence imaging of Cys in cells and mice. Moreover, the probe provided visual evidence of Cu2+ and curcumin-induced intracellular Cys fluctuations.

Abstract
Due to the crucial biological roles of hydrogen polysulfides (H2Sn) in living systems, the selective determination of H2Sn is essential. In this work, we reported a turn-on fluorescent probe, JSI-Sn, for H2Sn with high sensitivity and good selectivity. Probe JSI-Sn displayed a near-infrared emission (λmaxEm = 701 nm) and a large Stokes shift (123 nm) in the presence of H2Sn in solution. Using probe JSI-Sn as an indispensable tool, the monitoring of intracellular H2Sn in living cells and zebrafish were realized.

Abstract
In view of the importance of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in the organism, a fast, noninvasive method for the detection of H2S in situ is needed. Fluorescent probes based on disulfide-bond nucleophilic substitution-addition can selectively detect H2S in vivo, which is very popular because it allows quick response for H2S, thus it will be a useful tool for monitoring H2S in the vivo. We developed a dicyanoisopentanone-based H2S fluorescent probe (EW-H) that used a disulfide group as a self-destructive linker reaction site. Under the nucleophilic substitution of H2S, the disulfide bond of EW-H was cleaved, and then nucleophilic addition took place intramolecularly to release the fluorophore (at 580 nm). The response to H2S, EW-H had high sensitivity (86 nM of the detection limit), large Stokes shift (155 nm) and a fast response time. More importantly, the probe was also applied for bioimaging in HepG2 cells, indicating its potential applications in biological organism.

Abstract
Neurotransmission between neurons, which can occur over the span of a few milliseconds, relies on the controlled release of small molecule neurotransmitters, many of which are amino acids. Fluorescence imaging provides the necessary speed to follow these events and has emerged as a powerful technique for investigating neurotransmission. In this review, we highlight some of the roles of the 20 canonical amino acids, GABA and β-alanine in neurotransmission. We also discuss available fluorescence-based probes for amino acids that have been shown to be compatible for live cell imaging, namely those based on synthetic dyes, nanostructures (quantum dots and nanotubes), and genetically encoded components. We aim to provide tool developers with information that may guide future engineering efforts and tool users with information regarding existing indicators to facilitate studies of amino acid dynamics.

Abstract
Hydrogen sulfide shows great importance in various physiological and biochemical processes. The development of fluorescence probes for facile and efficient detection of H2S has attracted increasing attention of researchers. Herein, we synthesized two fluorescence probes based on simple naphthalene structure for detection of H2S. Upon reaction with H2S, the probe DN-DM exhibited a red fluorescence emission with large Stokes shift. The probe showed high sensitivity, pH insensitivity and good selectivity for H2S over other analytes including common biothiols. The detection mechanism was based on the thiolysis of the dinitrophenyl ether moiety, which was confirmed by 1H NMR spectral analysis. The DFT calculation was also performed for a deeper understanding of the photophysical properties. In addition, these probes showed good cell-membrane permeability and could be utilized for detection of H2S in living cells.
