Abstract
This review aims to estimate the prevalence of seizures and epilepsy among homeless people in current literature as well as understand the main adversities that this group withstands. We conducted a search for "epilep*", "seizur*", and "homeles*" in titles and abstracts of articles in PubMed. Overall, 25 articles met the final inclusion criteria and warranted analyses. This study suggests that the prevalence of epilepsy in the homeless population is between 2 and 30%, whereas the prevalence of homelessness in people with epilepsy is between 2 and 4%. Every study included in this review corroborates the increased prevalence of seizures and epilepsy among the homeless, which puts them at risk for worse outcomes related to this condition and numerous associated comorbidities. Further evidence is needed to clarify the distinction of primary and secondary seizures in this group, which shows a high rate of confounding factors for seizures like substance abuse or withdrawal and head injury, and to decrease the burden of epilepsy and homelessness in an already resource-deficient community.

Abstract
Attention is an important aspect of human brain function and often affected in neurological disorders. Objective assessment of attention may assist in patient care, both for diagnostics and prognostication. We present a compact test using a combination of a choice reaction time task, eye-tracking and EEG for assessment of visual attention in the clinic. The system quantifies reaction time, parameters of eye movements (i.e. saccade metrics and fixations) and event related potentials (ERPs) in a single and fast (15 min) experimental design. We present pilot data from controls, patients with mild traumatic brain injury and epilepsy, to illustrate its potential use in assessing attention in neurological patients. Reaction times and eye metrics such as fixation duration, saccade duration and latency show significant differences (p < .05) between neurological patients and controls. Late ERP components (200-800 ms) can be detected in the central line channels for all subjects, but no significant group differences could be found in the peak latencies and mean amplitudes. Our system has potential to assess key features of visual attention in the clinic. Pilot data show significant differences in reaction times and eye metrics between controls and patients, illustrating its promising use for diagnostics and prognostication.

Abstract
The primary aim of this study was to identify predictors and resilience factors for unemployment and early retirement in patients with epilepsy of working age based on data from a multicenter German cohort study performed in 2020 (n = 456) by using multivariate binary logistic regression analysis. A second aim was to assess the assumed working ability of patients as well as the use of occupational reintegration measures. The unemployment rate was 8.3%, and 18% of patients had retired early due to epilepsy. Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis identified the presence of a relevant disability and frequent seizures as significant predictors of unemployment and early retirement, while seizures in remission were the only resilience factor associated with job retention. Regarding occupational incapacity, at the time of the survey, most of the patients in early retirement or unemployment were fit for work in their original or extended occupational setting. The proportion of patients with recent epilepsy-related occupational retraining (0.4%) or job changes (0.9%) was low, and only 2.4% reported an epilepsy-related reduction in work time. These findings underline the persistent disadvantage of patients with epilepsy in the professional field and the urgent need for effective, comprehensive work reintegration measures that must be made accessible for all patients.

Abstract
Objective To explore the correlated clinical and psychological factors of stigmatization and investigate the relationship between stigma and white matter abnormalities in epilepsy patients. Methods Stigmatization was obtained by a three-item stigma scale in 256 epilepsy patients with genetic or unknown etiology. Personality and quality of life (QOL) were assessed by Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) and QOL-31 questionnaire respectively. One hundred and fourteen of them were performed Hamilton Depression Scale-17 (HAMD) and scanned with diffusion tensor imaging in 3T MRI. Fractional anisotropy (FA) values of frontotemporal contact fibers were calculated. Results There were about 39.8% patients felt stigma, with the highest score (Score 3) in 8.2% (21/256). Stigma scores were significantly negatively correlated with education (P < 0.01), age of onset (P < 0.05), extraversion score of EPQ (P < 0.01), total and all the subscale QOL scores (P < 0.001), and positively correlated with duration (P < 0.01), HAMD score (P < 0.001), neuroticism score of EPQ (P < 0.001). We found negative correlation between stigma scores and FA values of right superior longitudinal fasciculus and left cingulum (P < 0.05). Logistic regression results showed that FA value of left cingulum (P = 0.011; OR = 0.000), social function (P = 0.000; OR = 0.935) of QOL, and neuroticism score of EPQ (P = 0.033; OR = 1.123) independently correlated to felt stigma. Conclusion Felt stigma in epilepsy patients was found to be correlated with neuroticism, depression, and deficient social function of QOL, which might be predisposed by the impairment of the left cingulum. Our results provide preliminary evidence for the underlying neural circuits in stigmatization.

Abstract
PURPOSE Felt stigma and social anxiety are both common in patients with epilepsy (PWE) and they share an important relationship. Here in the present study, we investigated how social anxiety and different concepts of felt stigma relate to each other in PWE in order to provide some suggestions for the prevention and intervention of social anxiety and felt stigma in PWE. METHODS A total of 189 patients with epilepsy were enrolled in our study. Social anxiety was evaluated with the Liebowitz social anxiety scale. Felt stigma was evaluated with the Kilifi stigma scale for epilepsy. The data were subjected to network analysis. RESULTS The findings indicated that eight edges with the strongest regularized partial correlations existed in the network, such as the edge between S3 "Embarrassed" and S4 "Disappointed", and the edge between S14 "Discriminate" and S15 "Outcast". In addition, S10 "Inferior" and S11 "Avoid" had the highest strength and predictability. The flow network of social anxiety indicated that most concepts of felt stigma were directly connected with social anxiety. The strongest edge existed between S8 "Uncomfortable" and social anxiety, while S6 "Society" and S5 "Rewarding life" were also closely connected with social anxiety. CONCLUSION The current study highlighted the critical central concept S10 "Inferior" and critical concepts associated with social anxiety, including S8 "Uncomfortable", S6 "Society" and S5 "Rewarding life". The findings revealed in this study may offer some help in the clinical prevention and intervention of felt stigma and social anxiety in PWE. However, all of the conclusions above need further confirmatory studies to validate them.

Abstract
The painting Portrait of My Father (1951) by the Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, is discussed by the author within the context of epilepsy and biographical events in the lives of both Frida and her father, the German Mexican photographer Guillermo Kahlo. The biographical accounts of the photographer's seizures are suggestive of juvenile absence epilepsy but cannot discount the possibility of posttraumatic epilepsy of mesial frontal origin.

Abstract
Absence seizures (AS), presenting as short losses of consciousness with staring spells, are a common manifestation of childhood epilepsy that is associated with behavioral, emotional, and social impairments. It has also been suggested that patients with AS are more likely to suffer from mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesizes human and animal models that investigated mood disorders and AS. Of the 1019 scientific publications identified, 35 articles met the inclusion criteria for this review. We found that patients with AS had greater odds of developing depression and anxiety when compared to controls (odds ratio = 4.93, 95% confidence interval = 2.91-8.35, p < .01). The included studies further suggest a strong correlation between AS and depression and anxiety in the form of a bidirectional relationship. The current literature emphasizes that these conditions likely share underlying mechanisms, such as genetic predisposition, neurophysiology, and anatomical pathways. Further research will clarify this relationship and ensure more effective treatment for AS and mood disorders.

Abstract
Affective disorders are overrepresented in epilepsy, and people with epilepsy may be at risk of dropping out from school. The aim of the present study was to assess factors influencing high school dropout, anxiety, and depression in genetic generalized epilepsy (GGE). One hundred and ten people with GGE aged 19-40 years underwent a clinical interview, including the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) questionnaire. Potential predictors of high school dropout were analyzed with logistic regression, and factors influencing total HADS score were analyzed with linear regression. Having felt excluded because of epilepsy was significantly associated with high school dropout (odds ratio 7.80, P = .009), as was total HADS score (odds ratio 1.22, P = .005). If a participant was currently employed or undergoing education, previous high school dropout was less likely (odds ratio 0.07, P = .005). High school dropout was associated with increased current anxiety and depression (β = 0.32, P = .005). Epilepsy severity (current drug resistance, current polytherapy, and active generalized tonic-clonic seizures) was not associated with high school dropout, nor with total HADS score. The issue of stigma in epilepsy must be thoroughly addressed in comprehensive care and may be as important as seizure control when it comes to education and quality of life.
