Abstract
We have investigated the OH + HCl reaction on the surface of ice using Born-Oppenheimer molecular dynamics (BOMD) simulation. The present work revealed that the OH + HCl reaction becomes ∼1 order of magnitude faster on the ice surface compared to the bare reaction. The BOMD simulation also indicates that the Cl radical formed on the ice surface through the title reaction can form two hydrogen bonds at a time with the water molecules present on the ice surface; hence, the Cl radical cannot escape from the ice surface easily.

Abstract
The present study investigates the mode specificity in the microsolvated OH˙(H2O) + HCl reaction using on-the-fly direct dynamics simulation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study which aims to gain insights into the effect of microsolvation on the mode selectivity. Our investigation reveals that, similar to the gas phase OH˙ + HCl reaction, the microsolvated reaction is also predominantly affected by the vibrational excitation of the HCl mode, whereas the OH vibrational mode behaves as a spectator. Interestingly, in contrast to the behavior of the bare reaction, the integral cross section at the ground state of the microsolvated reaction decreases with an increase in translational energy. However, for the vibrational excited states, the reactivity of the microsolvated reaction is found to be higher than that of the bare reaction within the selected range of translational energies.

Abstract
We report in this paper an investigation on energy transfer processes from vibration to vibration and/or translation in thermal and subthermal regimes for the O2 + N2 system performed using quantum-classical calculations on different empirical, semiempirical, and ab initio potential energy surfaces. In particular, the paper focuses on the rationalization of the non-Arrhenius behavior (inversion of the temperature dependence) of the quasi-resonant vibration-to-vibration energy transfer transition rate coefficients at threshold. To better understand the microscopic nature of the involved processes, we pushed the calculations to the detail of the related cross sections and analyzed the impact of the medium and long-range components of the interaction on them. Furthermore, the variation with temperature of the dependence of the quasi-resonant rate coefficient on the vibrational energy gap between initial and final vibrational states and the effectiveness of quantum-classical calculations to overcome the limitations of the purely classical treatments were also investigated. These treatments, handled in an open molecular science fashion by chaining data and competencies of the various laboratories using a grid empowered molecular simulator, have allowed a rationalization of the dependence of the computed rate coefficients in terms of the distortion of the O2-N2 configuration during the diatom-diatom collisions. A way of relating such distortions to a smooth and continuous progress variable, allowing a proper evolution from both long to closer range formulation of the interaction and from its entrance to exit channel (through the strong interaction region) relaxed graphical representations, is also discussed in the paper.

Abstract
The first four dimensional (4D) quantum scattering calculations on the tetra-atomic H2O+Cl<-->HO+HCl reactions are reported. With respect to a full (6D) treatment, only the planar constraint and a fixed length for the HO spectator bond are imposed. This work explicitly accounts for the bending and local HO stretching vibrations in H2O, for the vibration of HCl and for the in-plane rotation of the H2O, HO and HCl molecules. The calculations are performed with the potential energy surface of Clary et al. and use a Born-Oppenheimer type separation between the motions of the light and the heavy nuclei. State-to-state cross sections are reported for a collision energy range 0-1.8 eV measured with respect to H2O+Cl. For the H2O+Cl reaction, present results agree with previous (3D) non planar calculations and confirm that excitation of the H2O stretching promotes more reactivity than excitation of the bending. New results are related to the rotation of the H2O molecule: the cross sections are maximal for planar rotational states corresponding to 10<M<15, independently of the H2O initial vibrational state. At low collision energy (<0.8 eV), product state analysis reveals wider rotational distributions for the HCl than for the OH products. For the HO+HCl reaction, the rotational excitation of the HO and HCl reactants does not significantly promote reaction. The water molecules are essentially formed in the fundamental, first bending and local stretching vibrational states.

Abstract
The two four-dimensional diabatic potential energy surfaces (DPESs) for OH-HCl are computed that correlate with the twofold degenerate (2)Pi ground state of the free OH radical. About 20 000 points on the surface are obtained by the ab initio coupled-cluster and multi-reference configuration interaction methods. Analytic forms for the diabatic potential energy surfaces are derived as expansions in complete sets of orthogonal functions depending on the three intermolecular angles. The numeric computation of the angular expansion coefficients is discussed. The distance-dependence of the angular coefficients is represented by the reproducing kernel Hilbert space method. It is checked that both diabatic potentials converge for large intermolecular separations to the values computed directly from the electrostatic multipole expansion. The final DPESs are discussed and illustrated by some physically meaningful one- and two-dimensional cuts through them.

Abstract
Parity resolved state-to-state cross sections for inelastic scattering of OH (X2Pi) by HCl were measured in a crossed molecular beam experiment at the collision energy of 920 cm(-1). The OH (X2Pi) radicals were prepared in a single quantum state, Omega=3/2, J=3/2, MJ=3/2, f, by means of electrostatic state selection in a hexapole field. The rotational distribution of the scattered OH radicals by HCl was probed by saturated LIF spectroscopy of the 0-0 band of the A 2Sigma+ - X 2Pi transition. Relative state-to-state cross sections were measured for rotational excitations up to J=9/2 within the Omega=3/2 spin-orbit manifold and up to J=7/2 within the Omega=1/2 spin-orbit manifold. A propensity for spin-orbit conserving transitions was found, but no propensity for excitation into a particular Lambda-doublet component of the same rotational state was evident. The data are presented and discussed in comparison with results previously obtained for collisions of OH with CO (Ecoll=450 cm(-1)) and N2 (Ecoll=410 cm(-1)) and with new data we have measured for the OH+CO system at a comparable collision energy (Ecoll=985 cm(-1)). This comparison suggests that the potential energy surface (PES) governing the interaction between OH and HCl is more anisotropic than the PES's governing the intermolecular interaction of OH with CO and N2.
