Abstract
Heteronuclear transition-metal-main-group-element carbonyl complexes of AsFe(CO)3- , SbFe(CO)3- , and BiFe(CO)3- were produced by a laser vaporization supersonic ion source in the gas phase, and were studied by mass-selected IR photodissociation spectroscopy and advanced quantum chemistry methods. These complexes have C3v structures with all of the carbonyl ligands bonded on the iron center, and feature covalent triple bonds between bare Group 15 elements and Fe(CO)3- . Chemical bonding analyses on the whole series of AFe(CO)3- (A=N, P, As, Sb, Bi, Mc) complexes indicate that the valence orbitals involved in the triple bonds are hybridized 3d and 4p atomic orbitals of iron, leading to an unusual (dp-p) type of transition-metal-main-group-element multiple bonding. The σ-type three-orbital interaction between Fe 3d/4p and Group 15 np valence orbitals plays an important role in the bonding and stability of the heavier AFe(CO)3- (A=As, Sb, Bi) complexes.

Abstract
Reaction of [U(TrenTIPS )(PH2 )] (1, TrenTIPS =N(CH2 CH2 NSiPri3 )3 ) with C6 H5 CH2 K and [U(TrenTIPS )(THF)][BPh4 ] (2) afforded a rare diuranium parent phosphinidiide complex [{U(TrenTIPS )}2 (μ-PH)] (3). Treatment of 3 with C6 H5 CH2 K and two equivalents of benzo-15-crown-5 ether (B15C5) gave the diuranium μ-phosphido complex [{U(TrenTIPS )}2 (μ-P)][K(B15C5)2 ] (4). Alternatively, reaction of [U(TrenTIPS )(PH)][Na(12C4)2 ] (5, 12C4=12-crown-4 ether) with [U{N(CH2 CH2 NSiMe2 But )2 CH2 CH2 NSi(Me)(CH2 )(But )}] (6) produced the diuranium μ-phosphido complex [{U(TrenTIPS )}(μ-P){U(TrenDMBS )}][Na(12C4)2 ] [7, TrenDMBS =N(CH2 CH2 NSiMe2 But )3 ]. Compounds 4 and 7 are unprecedented examples of uranium phosphido complexes outside of matrix isolation studies, and they rapidly decompose in solution underscoring the paucity of uranium phosphido complexes. Interestingly, 4 and 7 feature symmetric and asymmetric UPU cores, respectively, reflecting their differing steric profiles.

Abstract
The reaction of [Zr(TrenDMBS )(Cl)] [Zr1; TrenDMBS =N(CH2 CH2 NSiMe2 But )3 ] with NaPH2 gave the terminal parent phosphanide complex [Zr(TrenDMBS )(PH2 )] [Zr2; Zr-P=2.690(2) Å]. Treatment of Zr2 with one equivalent of KCH2 C6 H5 and two equivalents of benzo-15-crown-5 ether (B15C5) afforded an unprecedented example (outside of matrix isolation) of a structurally authenticated transition-metal terminal parent phosphinidene complex [Zr(TrenDMBS )(PH)][K(B15C5)2 ] [Zr3; Zr=P=2.472(2) Å]. DFT calculations reveal a polarized-covalent Zr=P double bond, with a Mayer bond order of 1.48, and together with IR spectroscopic data also suggest an agostic-type Zr⋅⋅⋅HP interaction [∡ZrPH =66.7°] which is unexpectedly similar to that found in cryogenic, spectroscopically observed phosphinidene species. Surprisingly, computational data suggest that the Zr=P linkage is similarly polarized, and thus as covalent, as essentially isostructural U=P and Th=P analogues.

Triamidoamine thorium-arsenic complexes with parent arsenide, arsinidiide and arsenido structural motifs. Nat Commun 2017; 8:14769. Abstract
Despite a major expansion of uranium-ligand multiple bond chemistry in recent years, analogous complexes involving other actinides (An) remain scarce. For thorium, under ambient conditions only a few multiple bonds to carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and chalcogenides are reported, and none to arsenic are known; indeed only two complexes with thorium-arsenic single bonds have been structurally authenticated, reflecting the challenges of stabilizing polar linkages at the large thorium ion. Here, we report thorium parent-arsenide (ThAsH2), -arsinidiides (ThAs(H)K and ThAs(H)Th) and arsenido (ThAsTh) linkages stabilized by a bulky triamidoamine ligand. The ThAs(H)K and ThAsTh linkages exhibit polarized-covalent thorium-arsenic multiple bonding interactions, hitherto restricted to cryogenic matrix isolation experiments, and the AnAs(H)An and AnAsAn linkages reported here have no precedent in f-block chemistry. 7s, 6d and 5f orbital contributions to the Th-As bonds are suggested by quantum chemical calculations, and their compositions unexpectedly appear to be tensioned differently compared to phosphorus congeners.

Abstract
Catalytic properties of Cu2+ ions in oxidation reactions of P4 were investigated in present work using quantum-chemical methods. The geometric structures of several transition metal complexes were determined. The oxidation of P4 molecules in reactions with alkane hydroxide compounds by means of interaction with Cu2+ ions is substantiated based on comparative analysis of energies. The mechanism of activation of P4 molecular cations is studied. The possibility of occurrence of the reaction is shown based on thermodynamic parameters.

Abstract
Triamidoamine (Tren) complexes of the p- and d-block elements have been well-studied, and they display a diverse array of chemistry of academic, industrial and biological significance. Such in-depth investigations are not as widespread for Tren complexes of uranium, despite the general drive to better understand the chemical behaviour of uranium by virtue of its fundamental position within the nuclear sector. However, the chemistry of Tren-uranium complexes is characterised by the ability to stabilise otherwise reactive, multiply bonded main group donor atom ligands, construct uranium-metal bonds, promote small molecule activation, and support single molecule magnetism, all of which exploit the steric, electronic, thermodynamic and kinetic features of the Tren ligand system. This Feature Article presents a current account of the chemistry of Tren-uranium complexes.

Abstract
The compound L-U-N [L = [N(CH2CH2NSiPr(i)3)3](3-), Pr(i) = CH(CH3)2] containing a terminal U-N triple bond has been synthesized and isolated successfully in experiments. To investigate the trend in the bonding nature of its pnictogen analogues, we have studied the L-U-E (E = N, P, As, Sb, and Bi) complexes using the scalar relativistic density functional theory. The terminal U-E multiple bond length increases in the order of U-N ≪ U-P < U-As < U-Sb < U-Bi, which can be supported by the hard and soft acids and bases (HSAB) theory. The U-E bond length, molecular orbital (MO), and natural bond orbital (NBO) reveal that the terminal U-E bonds should be genuine triple bonds containing one σ- and two π-bonding orbitals. Quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) topological analysis and the electron localization function (ELF) suggest that the terminal U-E bond possesses covalent character and the covalency of U-E bonds decrease sharply when the terminal atom becomes heavier. This work presents a comparison about the bonding characteristic between the terminal U≡N bond and its heavier pnictogen (P, As, Sb, and Bi) analogues. It is expected that this work would shed light on the evaluation of the amount of 5f orbital participation in multiple bonds and further facilitate our deeper understanding of f-block elements.

Abstract
Reaction of Mo(N[R]Ar)(3) (R = (t)Bu or C(CD(3))(2)CH(3)) with N(2)O gives rise exclusively to a 1:1 mixture of nitride NMo(N[R]Ar)(3) and nitrosyl ONMo(N[R]Ar)(3), rather than the known oxo complex OMo(N[R]Ar)(3) and dinitrogen. Solution calorimetry measurements were used to determine the heat of reaction of Mo(N[R]Ar)(3) with N(2)O and, independently, the heat of reaction of Mo(N[R]Ar)(3) with NO. Derived from the latter measurements is an estimate (155.3 +/- 3.3 kcal.mol(-1)) of the molybdenum-nitrogen bond dissociation enthalpy for the terminal nitrido complex, NMo(N[R]Ar)(3). Comparison of the new calorimetry data with those obtained previously for oxo transfer to Mo(N[R]Ar)(3) shows that the nitrous oxide N-N bond cleavage reaction is under kinetic control. Stopped-flow kinetic measurements revealed the reaction to be first order in both Mo(N[R]Ar)(3) and N(2)O, consistent with a mechanism featuring post-rate-determining dinuclear N-N bond scission, but also consistent with cleavage of the N-N bond at a single metal center in a mechanism requiring the intermediacy of nitric oxide. The new 2-adamantyl-substituted molybdenum complex Mo(N[2-Ad]Ar)(3) was synthesized and found also to split N(2)O, resulting in a 1:1 mixture of nitrosyl and nitride products; the reaction exhibited first-order kinetics and was found to be ca. 6 times slower than that for the tert-butyl-substituted derivative. Discussed in conjunction with studies of the 2-adamantyl derivative Mo(N[2-Ad]Ar)(3) is the role of ligand-imposed steric constraints on small-molecule, e.g. N(2) and N(2)O, activation reactivity. Bradley's chromium complex Cr(N(i)Pr(2))(3) was found to be competitive with Mo(N[R]Ar)(3) for NO binding, while on its own exhibiting no reaction with N(2)O. Competition experiments permitted determination of ratios of second-order rate constants for NO binding by the two molybdenum complexes and the chromium complex. Analysis of the product mixtures resulting from carrying out the N(2)O cleavage reactions with Cr(N(i)Pr(2))(3) present as an in situ NO scavenger rules out as dominant any mechanism involving the intermediacy of NO. Simplest and consistent with all the available data is a post-rate-determining bimetallic N-N scission process. Kinetic funneling of the reaction as indicated is taken to be governed by the properties of nitrous oxide as a ligand, coupled with the azophilic nature of three-coordinate molybdenum(III) complexes.

Abstract
The thermolysis of the phosphinidene complex [Cp*P[W(CO)5]2] (1) in toluene in the presence of tBuC(triple bond)CMe leads to the four-membered ring complexes [[[eta2-C(Me)C(tBu)]Cp*(CO)W(mu3-P)[W(CO)3]][eta4:eta1:eta1-P[W(CO)5]WCp*(CO)C(Me)C(tBu)]] (4) as the major product and [[W[Cp*(CO)2]W(CO)2WCp*(CO)[eta1:eta1-C(Me)C(tBu)]](mu,eta3:eta2:eta1-P2[W(CO)5]] (5). The reaction of 1 with PhC(triple bond)CPh leads to [[W(Co)2[eta2-C(Ph)C(Ph)]][(eta4:eta1-P(W(CO)5]W[Cp*(CO)2)C(Ph)C(Ph)]] (6). The products 4 and 6 can be regarded as the formal cycloaddition products of the phosphido complex intermediate [Cp*(CO)2W(triple bond)P --> W(CO)5] (B), formed by Cp* migration within the phosphinidene complex 1. Furthermore, the reaction of 1 with PhC(triple bond)CPh gives the minor product [[[eta2:eta1-C(Ph)C(Ph)]2[W(CO)4]2][mu,eta1:eta1-P[C(Me)[C(Me)]3C(Me)][C(Ph)](C(Ph)]] (7) as a result of a 1,3-dipolaric cycloaddition of the alkyne into a phosphaallylic subunit of the Cp*P moiety of 1. Compounds 4-7 have been characterized by means of their spectroscopic data as well as by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis.
