Abstract
In the title polymeric coordination compound, {[FePt(CN)4(H2O)2]·1.33CH3OH} n , the FeII cation (site symmetry 4/mm.m) is coordinated by the N atoms of four cyanide anions (CN-) and the O atoms of two water mol-ecules, forming a nearly regular [FeN4O2] octa-hedron. According the Fe-N and Fe-O bond lengths, the FeII atom is in the high-spin state. The cyanide anions act in a bridging manner to connect the FeII and PtII atoms. The [Pt(CN)4]2- moieties (Pt with site symmetry 4/mm.m) have a perfect square-planar shape. The latter anion is located perpendicular to the FeN4 plane, thus ensuring the creation of a three-dimensional framework. The crystal structure features methanol solvent mol-ecules of which 4/3 were located per FeII cation. These solvent mol-ecules are located in hexa-gonal pores; they inter-act with coordinating water mol-ecules through weak hydrogen bonds. Other guest mol-ecules could not be modelled in a satisfactory way and their contribution to the scattering was removed by a mask procedure.

Abstract
AbstractThis review covers crystallographic and structural data for almost fifty polymeric FeM complexes (M = transition Cu, Ag, Au, Mo, W, Mn, Co, Ni and Pt and lanthanide elements Sm, Er and Yb) where iron is involved in polymeric chains. The complexes are for the most part yellow or black, but there are complexes of brown, orange, red, purple, blue and green colour. The complexes crystallized in the monoclinic (by far prevails), triclinic, tetragonal, orthorhombic, trigonal, hexagonal and rhombohedral crystal classes. The iron atoms are found in oxidation states 0, +2 and +3, of which +3 by far prevails. The inner coordination spheres about the Fe(0) atom are tetrahedral (FeC4) or sandwiched (FeC10), Fe(II) atoms are six-coordinated, and Fe(III) are six or even seven-coordinated. The inner coordination about M atoms range from four- through six- to eight-coordinated. The shortest Fe-Fe, Fe-M (transition) and Fe-M (lanthanide) and M-M separations are: 8.08 Å, 3.033 Å for Fe-Cu, 3.010 Å for Fe-Yb and 2.505 Å for Mo-Mo.

Abstract
New Hofmann-T(d) type clathrates in the form of Ni(4-Phpy)(2)M(CN)(4)·2G (where 4-Phpy=4-phenylpyridine, M=Cd or Hg and G=1,4-dioxane) have been prepared in powder form and their FT-IR and Raman spectra have been reported. The results suggest that these compounds are similar in structure to the Hofmann-T(d) type clathrates.

Abstract
New Hofmann type complexes in the form of M(pp)(2)Ni(CN)(4) (where pp=1-phenylpiperazine and M=Ni, Co, Cd, Pd or Mn) have been prepared in powder form and their infrared spectra have been reported in the range of (4000-400) cm(-1). The thermal behaviours of these complexes have been investigated by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA). Ni(pp)(2)Ni(CN)(4) complex has been examined via transmission electron microscope (TEM). The results suggest that these compounds are similar in structure to Hofmann type complexes and their structures consist of polymeric layers |M-Ni(CN)(4)|(infinity) with the pp molecule bounded to the metal atom (M).

Abstract
The new crystalline compounds Tl2Ni(CN)4 and Tl2Pd(CN)4 were synthesized by several procedures. The structures of the compounds were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compounds are isostructural with the previously reported platinum analogue, Tl2Pt(CN)4. A new synthetic route to the latter compound is also suggested. In contrast to the usual infinite columnar stacking of [M(CN)4]2- ions with short intrachain M-M separations, characteristic of salts of tetracyanometalates of NiII, PdII, and PtII, the structure of the thallium compounds is noncolumnar with the two TlI ions occupying axial vertices of a distorted pseudo-octahedron of the transition metal, [MTl2C4]. The Tl-M distances in the compounds are 3.0560(6), 3.1733(7), and 3.140(1) A for NiII, PdII, and PtII, respectively. The short Tl-Ni distance in Tl2Ni(CN)4 is the first example of metal-metal bonding between these two metals. The strength of the metal-metal bonds in this series of compounds was assessed by means of vibrational spectroscopy. Rigorous calculations, performed on the molecules in D4h point group symmetry, provide force constants for the Tl-M stretching vibration constants of 146.2, 139.6, and 156.2 N/m for the NiII, PdII, and PtII compounds, respectively, showing the strongest metal-metal bonding in the case of the Tl-Pt compound. Amsterdam density-functional calculations for isolated Tl2M(CN)4 molecules give Tl-M geometry-optimized distances of 2.67, 2.80, and 2.84 A for M = NiII, PdII, and PtII, respectively. These distances are all substantially shorter than the experimental values, most likely because of intermolecular Tl-N interactions in the solid compounds. Time-dependent density-functional theory calculations reveal a low-energy, allowed transition in all three compounds that involves excitation from an a1g orbital of mixed Tl 6pz-M ndz2 character to an a2u orbital of dominant Tl 6pz character.
