Abstract
Nano-catalysts are of special character for the synthesis of organic molecules with high efficiency, and exceptional physicochemical properties. The objective of this study was to present an overview of the literature reports concerning the synthetic strategies supported by nano-catalysts and the biological features of heterocycle-integrated pyridopyrimidine scaffolds. The basic topics include the strategies that were adopted to prepare pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines and pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidines. The synthesis of pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines was attained through two-, three-, or four-component reactions. The synthesis of spirocyclic systems, including spiro[indoline-pyridopyrimidine] derivatives and arylation reactions, was investigated. The anticipated mechanisms of the diverse target products, in addition to the preparation of the nanocatalysts, were scrutinized. The privileged antimicrobial characteristics, challenges, literature overview, and future prospectives were consistently investigated.

Abstract
Lanthanoid-containing polyoxometalates (Ln-POMs) have been developed as effective and robust catalysts due to their Lewis acid–base active sites including the oxygen-enriched surfaces of POM and the unique 4f. electron configuration of Ln. As an extension of our interest in Ln-POMs, a series of as-synthesized nanocatalysts K15[Ln(BW11O39)2] (Ln-B2W22, Ln = La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Gd, and Er) synthesized and fully characterized using different techniques. The Ln3+ ion with a big ionic radius was chosen as the Lewis acid center which is sandwiched by two mono-lacunary Keggin [BW11O39]9− units to form Ln-containing sandwiched type cluster. Consequently, the catalytic activity of nanocatalysts with different Ln was examined in the synthesis of bioactive isatin derivatives and compared under the same optimized reaction conditions in terms of yields of obtained products, indicating the superiority of the nano-Gd-B2W22 in the aforementioned simple one-pot reaction. The effects of different dosages of nanocatalyst, type of solvent, reaction time, and reaction temperature in this catalytic system were investigated and the best results were obtained in the presence of 10 mol% of nano-Gd-B2W22 in water for 12 min at the reflux condition.

Abstract
The nitrile or cyano (-CN) group is one of the most appreciated and effective functional groups in organic synthesis, having a polar unsaturated C-N triple bond. Despite sufficient stability and being intrinsically inert, the nitrile group can be easily transformed into many other functional groups, such as amines, carboxylic acids, ketones, etc. which makes it a vital group in organic synthesis. On the other hand, despite several boronic acids having a low level of genotoxicity, they have found wide applicability in the field of organic synthesis, especially in transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. Recently, transition-metal-catalyzed cascade additions or addition/cyclization processes of boronic acids to the nitrile group open up exciting and useful strategies to prepare a variety of functional molecules through the formation of C-C, C-N and CO bonds. Boronic acids can be added to the cyano functionality through catalytic carbometallation or through a radical cascade process to provide newer pathways for the rapid construction of various important acyclic ketones or amides, carbamidines, carbocycles and N,O-heterocycles. The present review focuses on various transition-metal-catalyzed additions of boronic acids via carbometallation or radical cascade processes using the cyano group as an acceptor.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed cascade strategy has been developed for one-pot synthesis of functionalized spiro(indoline-3,2'-quinazolin)-2-one derivatives from readily available starting materials. The reaction proceeds via C-C and two C-N bond formations in a single reaction operation. This method offers an attractive pathway for the synthesis of a broad range of spiro(indoline-3,2'-quinazolin)-2-ones in good yields.

Abstract
This manuscript describes an effective and rapid three-component synthesis of a novel series of spiro-acridine derivatives by integrating the pharmacologically dynamic hydantoin-phenytoin as the prime synthetic equivalent. The process was accelerated by Fe3O4@TiO2-PTA magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), which acted as the heterogeneous catalytic system, under ultrasonic conditions. The reaction was performed in the green PEG-200 solvent under aerophilic conditions to obtain products with excellent yields. The characteristics of the synthesized magnetic nano-catalysts were corroborated through powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), FT-IR, and VSM techniques. In addition, the structures of the synthesized compounds were ascertained on the basis of elemental analyses and spectro-analytical data (1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass spectrometry). High yields, smaller E-factor, considerable atom economy, easy recovery, and recyclability of the catalyst and solvent are the captivating features of the developed protocol. Moreover, in view of the ongoing global research on COVID-19, herein, we tried to identify the potential sites of the synthesized moiety that can suitably fit the receptor sites of the main protease of SARS-CoV-2 (SARS-CoV-2 Mpro).

Abstract
A facile, multicomponent (MCR) atom-economic synthesis of novel spiro-oxindolo pyrrolizidine adducts of piperine has been achieved via an intermolecular 1,3-dipolar azomethine ylide cycloaddition reaction. Either of the two conjugated double bonds in piperine takes part in the reaction to produce two regioisomeric adducts in racemic form. Acenaphthoquinone, ninhydrin and different isatin derivatives were reacted with proline and piperine to afford a never before reported library of 22 compounds. The structures of the products were determined by 1D/2D NMR, mass spectral analysis and confirmed by X-ray crystallography of selected products. Chiral HPLC separation was performed to measure the specific rotation and CD spectra of the enantiomers for two racemic compounds.

Abstract
One-pot chemo-, regio-, and stereoselective synthesis of series of heterocyclic and spiroheterocyclic compounds was accomplished through mono- and bis[3 + 2]-cycloaddition reactions of (2E,4E)-ethyl 5-(phenylsulfonyl)penta-2,4-dienoate as a dipolarophile with azomethine ylides, nitrones, and nitrile oxides in good yields. The structures of the products were established by spectroscopic techniques as well as by single-crystal XRD study, and DFT calculations were performed to further understand the mechanism of this [3 + 2]-cycloaddition reaction.

Abstract
A facile synthesis of dispirooxindolopyrrolidines has been accomplished via a one-pot three component 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction. The reaction of azomethine ylides generated in situ from L-phenylalanine and substituted isatins with a series of unusual (E)-2-oxoindolino-3-ylidene acetophenone dipolarophiles in the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide [bmim]BF4, furnished the cycloadducts in good yields, with the regioisomers 5a-f being obtained with high selectivity. Furthermore, the recyclability of [bmim]BF4, up to five times, was also investigated.

Abstract
A new protocol for the oxidative bromination of aminoanthracene-9,10-dione, which is highly deactivated towards the electrophilic substitution is investigated. The peracid, nonanebis(peroxoic acid), possesses advantages such as better stability at room temperature, it is easy to prepare and non-shock sensitiv as compared to the conventional peracids. The present protocol has a broad scope for the bromination of various substituted and unsubstituted aminoanthracene-9,10-diones.

Abstract
We have developed an organocatalytic modified Feist-Bénary reaction of cyclic dicarbonyl compounds, isatins and cyclic α-bromo dicarbonyl compounds. This method affords bisspirooxindole-fused dihydrofurans containing two vicinal spiro centers. To the best of our knowledge, employing cyclic α-halo dicarbonyl compounds for the synthesis of bisspirooxindole-fused dihydrofurans has not been previously reported.

Abstract
Dispiro-pyrrolidino/pyrrolizidino fused oxindoles/acenaphthoquinones have been derived from andrographolide via azomethine ylide cycloaddition to the conjugated double-bond under microwave (MW) irradiation. The reactions are chemo-, stereo-, and regioselective in nature. Change in amino acid from sarcosine/N-benzyl glycine to l-proline changes the regiochemistry. A representative library of 40 compounds along with in vitro anticancer evaluation is reported.
