Abstract
Electrochemical allylation reactions of carbonyl compounds using cathodes prepared from nitrogen-doped carbon (NDC)-incarcerated zinc catalysts have been developed. A range of aldehydes and ketones afforded the desired allylic alcohols in high yields with <10 mol % zinc leaching, and the heterogeneous nature of the active species was suggested. Compared with bulk zinc electrodes, NDC-stabilized zinc nanoparticle species were compatible with a broader range of heteroaromatic substrates and enabled the use of an undivided cell.

Abstract
An iodine-mediated Hofmann-Löffler reaction has been developed that enables the first enantioselective synthesis of nicotine based on this synthetic methodology. The effect of the free pyridine core on the involved electrophilic iodine reagents was explored in detail. The final synthesis proceeds under moderate reaction conditions that tolerate the free pyridine core. The same synthetic sequence is also applicable to a number of derivatives with higher substituted pyridine cores, including bipyridine derivatives.

Abstract
Sinoracutine is a recently isolated alkaloid with unusual stereochemical and biological properties. It features an unprecedented tetracyclic 6/6/5/5 skeleton that bears an N-methylpyrrolidine ring fused to a cyclopentenone. Interestingly, both enantiomers of sinoracutine have been independently isolated from the same plant, yet the molecule does not appear to occur as a racemate. Here, we present a short synthesis of (-)-sinoracutine that relies on a highly diastereoselective Pauson-Khand reaction and a Mandai-Claisen reaction to install the quaternary stereocenter. Our work establishes the absolute configuration of the levorotatory isomer and suggests that the optical purity of sinoracutine varies in nature due to its gradual racemization. Experimental evidence supports this proposal, and a plausible mechanism for the racemization is provided.

Abstract
An enantioselective synthesis of a C ring of taxol has been accomplished. The key step is an oxidative cleavage of a derivative of the Wieland–Miescher ketone. A first attempt of a Shapiro reaction modelling the coupling of the C ring with the A fragment of taxol was also successful.

Abstract
The preparation of polymer-supported allyltin reagents was shown to be possible for both unfunctionalized and functionalized allyl units. These reagents were treated with aldehydes in the presence of cerium(III) or indium(III) salts to afford high yields of homoallylic alcohols, practically uncontaminated with organotin residues (less than 5 ppm). Some mechanism aspects are briefly discussed and the potential for regeneration and reuse of these supported reagents is pointed out.
