Abstract
A new synthetic strategy toward nonracemic phosphoryl-substituted pyrrolidines and tetrahydropyranes with three and five contiguous stereocenters is presented. Readily available β-keto phosphonates react with conjugated nitroolefins in the presence of a chiral Ni(II) complex to give nitro keto phosphonates with two stereocenters with excellent enantioselectivity and moderate to high diastereoselectivity. These products were used for a reductive cyclization leading to pyrrolidin-3-ylphosphonic acid and for reactions with aldehydes yielding tetrahydropyranylphosphonates as individual stereoisomers. These nonracemic heterocycles containing phosphoryl moieties are useful for designing new pharmacologically active compounds.

Abstract
Racemic 1-hydroxy-3-butenyl-, 3-chloro-1-hydroxypropyl-, and 3-bromo-1-hydroxypropylphosphonate and the corresponding (S)-enantiomers obtained by lipase-catalyzed resolution of the respective racemic chloroacetates were subjected to functional group manipulations. These comprised ozonolysis, Mitsunobu reactions with hydrazoic acid and N-hydroxyphthalimide, alkylation of hydrazine derivative, removal of phthaloyl group followed by intramolecular substitution, and global deprotection to deliver the racemates and (R)-enantiomers (ee 92-99% by chiral high-performance liquid chromatography) of pyrrolidin-2-yl-, oxazolidin-3-yl-, oxazolidin-5-yl-, pyrazolidin-3-yl-, and 1,2-oxazinan-3-ylphosphonic acids. These phosphonic acids were evaluated as analogues of proline and proline analogues for the ability to inhibit γ-glutamyl kinase, δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase, and δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase. Only the latter enzyme was inhibited by two of them at concentrations exceeding 1 mM.

Abstract
The short-step synthesis of the unsubstituted, 5-hydroxy- and 5-chloropiperidazine-3-carboxylic acids using an aza Diels-Alder reaction between the 1,3-diene and azodicarboxylate was described. This synthetic methodology could be used for the preparation of the optically active piperazic acid in a 35% overall yield.

Abstract
An overview of all methodologies published during the last few years focused to the stereoselective (diastereoselective or enantioselective) synthesis of α-aminophosphonic acids and derivatives is reported. The procedures have been classified according a retrosynthetic strategy and taking into account the formation of each one of the bonds connected to the chiral centre.

Abstract
This communication describes studies in which an azo hetero-Diels-Alder adduct was furnished in high regio- and enantioselectivity using azopyridine as a reagent and silver as a catalyst. The obtained hetero-Diels-Alder adduct was easily converted to the corresponding chiral 1,4-diamino alcohol.

Abstract
Five-, six-, and seven-membered cyclic alpha-amino phosphonates, amino acid surrogates, are prepared in enantiomerically pure form via the highly diastereomeric addition of metal phosphonates to masked oxo sulfinimines. Hydrolysis of the resulting masked oxo alpha-amino phosphonates followed by reduction of the intermediate cyclic imino phosphonates affords the title compounds in good yield.
