Abstract
Chemical synthesis based on Group-Assisted Purification chemistry (GAP) has been prolifically used as a powerful, greener and ecofriendly tool so far. Herein, we report hypervalent iodine (III) mediated regio- and diastereoselective aminobromination of electron-deficient olefins using group-assisted purification (GAP) method. By simply mixing the GAP auxiliary-anchored substrates with TsNH2-NBS as nitrogen/bromine sources and PhI(OAc)2 as a catalyst, a series of vicinal bromoamines with multifunctionalities were obtained in moderate to excellent yields (53-94%). The vicinal bromoamines were obtained without column chromatography and/or recrystallization simply by washing the crude mixtures with cosolvents and thus avoiding wastage of silica, solvents, time, and labor. The GAP auxiliary is recyclable and reusable.

Abstract
Metal-free, molecular iodine-free direct 1,2-difunctionalization of unactivated alkenes has been reported. The sulfonium iodate(i) reagent efficiently promoted the intermolecular vicinal iodo-functionalization of a diverse range of olefins in a stereo and regioselective manner. This method enables the divergent and straightforward preparation of synthetically useful functionalities; β-iodocarboxylates, β-iodohydrins, and β-iodoethers in a one-step process. Further interconversion of iodo-functionalized derivatives allows easy access to valuable synthetic intermediates en route to biologically active molecules.

Abstract
Bromination is one of the most important transformations in organic synthesis and can be carried out using bromine and many other bromo compounds. Use of molecular bromine in organic synthesis is well-known. However, due to the hazardous nature of bromine, enormous growth has been witnessed in the past several decades for the development of solid bromine carriers. This review outlines the use of bromine and different bromo-organic compounds in organic synthesis. The applications of bromine, a total of 107 bromo-organic compounds, 11 other brominating agents, and a few natural bromine sources were incorporated. The scope of these reagents for various organic transformations such as bromination, cohalogenation, oxidation, cyclization, ring-opening reactions, substitution, rearrangement, hydrolysis, catalysis, etc. has been described briefly to highlight important aspects of the bromo-organic compounds in organic synthesis.

Abstract
A 1.0 mol % amount of K(3)PO(4)·3H(2)O was found to catalyze aminohalogenation reaction of nitrostyrenes with N,N-dibromo-tert-butylcarbamate (t-Boc-NBr(2)) in a dichloroethane system. Good to excellent yields and complete regioselectivity have been achieved by taking advantage of the GAP workup without using traditional purification techniques such as column chromatography and recrystallization. Anew mechanism is proposed involving radical and ionic catalytic cycles and an intramolecular migration.

Abstract
A new, facile, and highly stereoselective protocol toward alpha,beta-dehydroamino acid derivatives has been developed. The one-pot synthesis was very convenient to perform by using the aminohalogenation reaction of alpha,beta-unsaturated esters and ketones followed by treatment with specific bases. Only two [2.2.2] bicyclic organic bases were found to be effective for this transformation. Good yields (58-68%) and excellent Z-selectivity were obtained for 12 examples. [reaction: see text]

Abstract
[reaction: see text] The first asymmetric aminohalogenation of functionalized alkenes has been established. The ionic liquid [bmim][BF4] was found to be the only effective media for success as normal organic solvents failed to give any product for this reaction. The reaction is also very convenient to perform by simply mixing the three reactants, cinnamates, N,N-dichloro-p-toluenesulfonamide, and catalyst, together with 4 A molecular sieves at room temperature in [bmim][BF4] in any convenient vial of appropriate size without special protection from inert gases. Good chemical yields (60-72%) and diastereoselectivities (up to 75% de) have been obtained with a good scope of substrates. The resulting individual diastereomers have been cleanly separated via column chromatography. The absolute stereochemistry of the reaction was unambiguously determined by X-ray structural analysis.

Abstract
[reaction: see text] A new synthetic procedure for aminohalogenation of olefins has been developed for the preparation of vicinal haloamine derivatives in high yields by using Cu, Mn, or V catalysts with p-toluenesulfonamide (TsNH(2)) and N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) as nitrogen and bromine sources, respectively. Unprecedented regio- and stereoselectivity (anti:syn > 99:1) toward the aminohalogenation process is shown for olefinic substrates as well as transition metal catalysts.
