Abstract
Aim:
Here, we have reported easy one-pot access to a series of oxazolines using a modified Castro-Stephens coupling protocol.
Background:
2-oxazolines have been shown to have significant biological activity and wide-ranging applications in organic chemistry. These properties make oxazolines as heterocyclic compounds of immense importance.
Objective:
The objective of this study is to synthesize oxazoline derivatives via an economical and one-pot protocol.
Method:
2-oxazoline has been synthesized through Cu-powder mediated Castro-Stephens coupling and intramolecular cyclization route. The mechanism involves a rearrangement in which one of the oxygen from the N-acylamino alcohol group is liberated as water and then transferred to alkyne functionality to form 2-oxazoline derivatives. The oxazolines were characterized by NMR, mass, and XRD studies.
Result:
The protocol is economically viable and uses readily available Cu-powder along with DMF for cross-coupling and cyclization steps.

Abstract
Background:
2-oxazolines and 2-thiazolines are important heterocycles due to their extensive
applications in chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmacology. Most of the precedent methods
for preparing these heterocycles involve one or more drawbacks, including harsh reaction conditions,
long reaction times, low yields of products, high temperature, and toxic solvents.
Objective:
The aim of this study was to develop a new and eco-efficient method for the preparation
of 2-oxazolines and 2-thiazolines.
Methods:
Amino alcohols were condensed with nitriles in a sealed tube under solvent-free and metal-
free conditions.
Results:
Our procedure appears to be highly eco-efficient and promotes quantitative access to 2-oxazolines
and 2-thiazolines using simple and minimum manipulation.
Conclusion:
This simple approach allows high conversion for different nitriles yielded from 78 to
99% and easy isolation of the targeted products without further purification. To the best of our
knowledge, our procedure is the most efficient and fast method reported to date in terms of chemical
yields, number of steps, and atom economy.

Abstract
A rapid and operationally simple approach for synthesising biologically relevant 2-oxazoline derivatives has been developed through highly efficient ultrasound-promoted coupling reactions of thioamides and amino alcohols using calcium ferrite nanoparticles as heterogeneous catalysts. The major advantage of using ultrasound irradiation lies in the drastic reduction of reaction time as compared with conventional stirring. Furthermore, quantum chemical investigations for the synthesised 2-oxazoline derivatives have been carried out at the DFT/B3LYP/6-311 + G (d, p) level of theory to predict the optimized geometry. The molecular properties such as bond lengths, bond orders, Milliken charges, frontier molecular orbitals, global reactivity descriptors, molecular electrostatic potential map, and thermodynamic parameters of all the compounds have also been reported at the same level of theory.

Abstract
A general procedure for the asymmetric synthesis of highly substituted 1,2-amino alcohols in high yield and diastereoselectivity is described that uses organometallic additions of a wide range of nucleophiles to tert-butylsulfinimines as the key step. The addition of organolithium reagents to these imines follows a modified Davis model. The diastereoselectivity for this reaction depends significantly on both the nucleophile and electrophile. These highly substituted 1,2-amino alcohols are used to synthesize stereochemically diverse and structurally novel, polysubstituted 2,2'-methylene(bisoxazoline) ligands in high yields.

Abstract
Because of the increased resistance to currently available antifungals, fungal infections represent a significant challenge to human health. Herein, we report the synthesis of 2-aryloxazoline derivatives from the reaction between l-threonine and derivatives of salicylic or naphthoic acid. In total, 26 compounds were obtained and tested against species of Candida, Cryptococcus, and Aspergillus. We found that all of the compounds inhibited the growth of Candida species at low concentrations (<0.25 μg/mL) and exhibited reduced hemolytic and cytotoxic activities. Additionally, compounds 4i and 9i were especially effective against antifungal-resistant isolates and the emerging fungus Candida auris. However, the compounds were less active on Cryptococcus and Aspergillus. Because of the improved in vitro antifungal efficacy and attenuated cytotoxicity, these two 2-aryloxazolines obtained from salicylic and naphthoic acid derivatives, respectively, may be considered lead molecules for the development of novel antifungal drugs.

Abstract
In this study we describe the synthesis of bis(pyrrolidone) based dicarboxylic acids from itaconic acid and their application in 2-oxazoline resins for fully renewable thermoset materials. The monomers are obtained using a bulk aza-Michael addition of a diamine and two itaconic acid molecules using a catalytic amount of water. The monomers can be isolated in high purity after recrystallization, though their yield proved to be highly dependent on the selected diamine spacer length: In general, only the dicarboxylic acids containing diamines with an even number of methylene spacers are isolated in high yields. Through NMR, GPC, and FTIR analysis we demonstrate that these bis(pyrrolidone) based dicarboxylic acids exhibit significantly enhanced curing rates in 2-oxazoline resins compared to resins containing aliphatic dicarboxylic acids such as sebacic acid. Overall, we demonstrate that the rate of 2-oxazoline ring-opening addition with carboxylic acid functionalities is determined by the used dicarboxylic acid, whereas the ring-opening addition of the 2-oxazoline functionality with amide groups is determined by the used bis(2-oxazoline) compound. The thermosets obtained after curing proved to be readily plasticized by water, opening up possibilities for enzymatic degradation.

Abstract
The reaction between nitriles and aminoalcohols to access 2-substituted oxazolines was investigated. Using copper-NHC complexes, various nitriles were successfully converted into the corresponding oxazolines, under milder and less wasteful conditions than those of previously reported methods.

Abstract
This paper describes the synthesis of new enantiomerically pure 2-cyanoethyl-oxazolines in one step starting from a wide range of amino alcohols and 4-ethoxy-4-iminobutanenitrile with high to good yields (73-96%) via an appropriate procedure which can be used for a selective synthesis of mono-oxazolines. A simple operation as well as a practical separation is additional eco-friendly attributes of this method. All the synthesized compounds were identified and characterized with their physicochemical features and their spectral data ((1)H NMR, (13)C NMR and TOFMS ES(+)). Among the prepared mono-oxazolines, the mono-oxazoline (3a) [3-[(4S)-4-benzyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl] propanenitrile] was tested to detect some biological activities. This compound was studied in vitro given the various types of pharmacological properties characterizing these compounds such as antioxidant, antimicrobial and analgesic activities. The antioxidant activity and mechanism of (3a) were identified using various in vitro antioxidant assays including 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH), and superoxide anion radicals (O2(-)) scavenging activity. In addition, compared to Quercetin, the tested synthetic product reveals a relatively-strong antiradical activity towards the DPPH (activity percentage of 81.22%) free radicals and significantly decreased the reactive oxygen species such as (O2(-)) formation evaluated by the non-enzymatic (nitroblue tetrazolium/riboflavine) and the enzymatic (xanthine/xanthine oxidase) systems. Related activity values were, respectively, 66% and 60.30%. The oxazoline (3a) showed a high ability to reduce the O2(-) generation and proved to be a very potent radical scavenger. On the other hand, the analgesic property of the 3[(4S)-benzyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl] propanenitrile (3a) was demonstrated. The subcutaneous administration of (3a) produced a significant reduction in the number of abdominal constrictions amounting to 73.81% in the acetic acid writhing test in mice. In addition to these advances, the oxazoline (3a) has been investigated as an antimicrobial agent. Our results showed that this molecule exhibited various levels of antibacterial effect against all the tested bacterial strains.

Abstract
An efficient one-pot synthesis process for preparing 2-imidazolines from aldehydes and ethylenediamine using molecular iodine and potassium carbonate in absolute ethanol at 25–30°C under ultrasound irradiation is described. The synthetic strategy has the following advantages: mild conditions and low costs requirements, readily available catalyst, short reaction times, simplicity of operation, and good-to-excellent yields.

Abstract
Montmorillonite K-10 and KSF were found to be highly efficient, environmentally friendly and recyclable heterogeneous catalysts for the selective synthesis of a variety of 2-aryl-5,6-dihydro-4H-1,3-oxazines from arylnitriles and 3-amino-1-propanol under ultrasound irradiation. This new methodology provides excellent yields in short reaction times (10-25 min). The reaction work-up is very simple and the catalysts can be easily separated from the reaction mixture and reused several times in subsequent reactions. This catalytic system also exhibits excellent chemoselectivity in the synthesis of mono-oxazines from dinitriles.
