Abstract
It is common to use reagents to determine the drugs by exploiting the properties of these reagents in the development of fluorescence of the target drug or sometimes increasing its intensity; this is the usual and predominant in the methods used in various techniques. But using a drug as a reagent to analyze another drug is unique, unusual, and uncommon; that's the idea of this paper. This is possible by creating a chemical modulation in the drug's structure using another drug. Targeted analyte molecules (N-acetylcysteine, as an example) that lack fluorogenic or chromophoric moieties cannot be monitored or evaluated without undergoing structural modification. Thus, the chemical mending of the analyte's molecular structure can achieve the transformational process. This protocoled analytical method generates an amended fluorescence sensation that can be chased fluorimetrically at 441 nm (emission) following excitation at 339 nm. When o-dialdehyde, diformylbenzene, a non-fluorescent moiety, is added to a solution of non-fluorescent analyte in the presence of cardiosintol drug, at a specific pH, the target drug-thiol moiety can be amended into a highly fluorescent compound. This study presented a sensitive and feasible fluorometric test for acetylcysteine. The response is linear throughout the range of 0.05-0.80 µg mL-1. Quantum yield and procedure validation were evaluated according to I.C.H. standards. The formed mutated product was successfully applied to the precise assessment of the studied drug in batch powder and dose form(s), with no impact from excipients. Compared to the referenced publication, the outcomes demonstrate remarkable precision and accuracy.

Abstract
In this review on the forced degradation studies on anti-epileptic drugs and the development of validated stability-indicating assay methods for drug substances and products at a condition more severe than accelerated condition (i.e. 40 ± 2°C, 75 ± 5% relative humidity), the drug substance and drug product undergo degradation is known as forced or stress degradation. To know about the impurities developed during the storage of drug products in various environmental conditions. The limit of degradation allowable is 5-20%. More than 20% of degradation is abnormal and must be investigated. Any regulatory guidelines do not mention the pH conditions for acid or base hydrolysis, the temperature for thermal degradation or the concentration of the oxidation agent. Only International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines Q1B photostability stability and states that light sources must be a combination of UV and visible light. The shortcomings of mentioned techniques with appreciation to regulatory necessities are highlighted. A systematic method for the forced degradation studies on anti-epileptic drugs such as "Topiramate, Vigabatrin, Lacosamide, Tiagabine, Levetiracetam and Zonisamide" is discussed. This review helps researchers to get an idea about stability-indicating methods of development and validation for newer antiepileptic drugs and the characteristics of drug products that degrade under specific degradation conditions.

Abstract
In the present study, a novel spectrofluorimetric approach was designed for the analysis of captopril as a thiol-containing compound. The approach is based on the formation of a ternary fluorescent compound between the target thiol compound, ortho-phthaldehyde, and a suitable primary amine-containing compound. The produced 1-thio-alkyl-isoindole derivative exhibited very high emission activity in a faintly alkaline aqueous solution that could be monitored at 448 nm (excitation at 334 nm). 2-Amino-6-methyl-6-hydroxy-heptane was selected as the primary amine candidate that gave the high fluorescence intensity with the stability of the formed product. At the optimal experimental condition, the intensity of fluorescence of the formed product was linearly related to the concentration of captopril in 20-450 ng mL-1 range. Commercial pharmaceutical tablets were analyzed, and the obtained results agreed with those of the published method regarding precision and accuracy. The mechanism of the reaction was discussed. In addition, the greenness of the approach was rated following eco-scale criteria.

Abstract
Atorvastatin and lisinopril are a successful combination for the treatment of patients with chronic heart failure and hypertension. Study of the dissolution kinetics of drugs in solid dosage form with lisinopril and atorvastatin and intestinal permeability to assess their equivalence in vitro were described. In medium with hydrochloric acid pH 1.2, in the medium of acetate buffer solution with a pH of 4.5 and in the medium phosphate buffer solution with a pH of 6.8 for 15 min more than 85% of the active substance passes into solution, hence the dissolution profiles these drugs in these environments are similar, and the drugs in them are “very quickly soluble”. Among the in vitro models that make it possible to assess the degree of absorption of API, the most widely used culture of adenocarcinoma cells of the colon – Caco-2. The development of the analytical methodology and its validation is the final stage of both the dissolution study and the Caco-2 test, as well as the biowaver procedure. It plays the most important role in the reliability of the results for all the above procedures and tests. To study permeability, method LC-MS/MS was developed. According to the obtained results, atorvastatin and lisinopril showed low permeability. The values of recovery of transport of test and control substances through the monolayer of cells of the Caco-2 line indicate that the results of the experiment can be considered reliable. The equivalence of the drugs “Lisinopril”, tablets of 10 mg and “Atorvastatin”, tablets of 10 mg, belongs to class III BCS proven by in vitro studies.

Abstract
Two simple, rapid and green spectrophotometric methods are described for the determination of lisinopril medicines. The determination is based on the reaction of the primary amino group of the lisinopril with ninhydrin in aqueous medium (Method I) and reaction on the carboxylic group of the lisinopril with copper (II) sulfate (Method II). For both methods, optimal spectrophotometric conditions were established. The linear relationship was found between absorbance at λmax and concentration of drug in the range 40–60 µg/mL (Method I) and 0.592–2.072 mg/mL (Method II). Regression analysis of Beer’s law plot at 400 nm yielded the regression equation, y = 7.4929x – 0.0545 (Method I) and at 730 nm y = 0.0443x – 0.0832 (Method II). High values of correlations coefficient (R2 = 0.9917 (Method I) and R2 = 0.999 (Method II)) and small values of intercept validated the linearity of calibration curve and obedience to Beer’s law. The LOD and LOQ values were calculated to be 6.91 µg/mL and 23.01 µg/mL respectively (Method I) and 0.11 mg/mL and 0.36 mg/mL respectively (Method II). Intra-day and inter-day accuracy and precision were in acceptable limits. The proposed methods were applied for the quantification of lisinopril in tablets pertaining to three commercial formulations. Analytical eco-scale for greenness assessment of the proposed spectrophotometric methods showed that both methods correspond to excellent green analysis.

Abstract
A new sensitive and discriminating spectrofluorimetric method has been developed and validated for determination of Lisinopril, one of the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, in its pure bulk form and pharmaceutical tablets. The reaction of Lisinopril with ethylacetoacetate and formaldehyde in acidic buffered medium (pH3.8) has yielded a pale yellow product that exhibited a high fluorescence measured at 438nm after excitation at 350nm. All the experimental parameters affecting the formation and stability of the produced fluorophore were carefully investigated and optimized to give the maximum sensitivity. The fluorescence intensity was directly proportional to the drug concentration in the range of 0.5-4.5μg/mL with a limit of detection equal to 0.16μg/mL. The method was successfully applied in the analysis of the commercially available pharmaceutical tablets containing the single drug or its binary mixtures with Hydrochlorothiazide. Furthermore, the developed procedure was adapted for studying the content uniformity test of some dosage forms containing the cited drug.

Abstract
Abstract
Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors modulate the function of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, and they are commonly prescribed antihypertensive drugs especially in patients with renal failure. In this study, the relationships between several molecular properties of eight ACE inhibitors (enalapril, quinapril, fosinopril, ramipril, benazepril, perindopril, moexipril, trandolapril) and their renal elimination data, from relevant literature, were investigated. The ’molecular descriptors of the ACE inhibitors, which included aqueous solubility data (logS); an electronic descriptor, polar surface area (PSA);, a constitutional parameter, molecular mass (Mr); and a geometric descriptor, volume value (Vol), as well as lipophilicity descriptors (logP values), were calculated using different software packages. Simple linear regression analysis showed the best correlation between renal elimination data and lipophilicity descriptor AClogP values (R2 = 0.5742). In the next stage of the study, multiple linear regression was applied to assess a higher correlation between the ACE inhibitors’ renal elimination data and lipophilicity, AClogP, with one additional descriptor as an independent variable. Good correlations were established between renal elimination data from the literature and the AClogP lipophilicity descriptor using the constitutional parameter (molecular mass (R2 = 0.7425)) or the geometric descriptor (volume value (R2 = 0.7224)) as an independent variable. The application of computed molecular descriptors in evaluating drug elimination is of great importance in drug research.

Abstract
A simple and sensitive spectrofluorimetric method has been developed and validated for the determination of oseltamivir phosphate (OST) in pharmaceutical preparations. The method is based on the reaction between oseltamivir phosphate and o-phthalaldehyde in presence of 2-mercapto-ethanol in borate buffer, pH 10.8, to give a highly fluorescent product measured at 450 nm after excitation at 336 nm. The different experimental parameters affecting the development and stability of the reaction product were studied and optimized. The fluorescence intensity-concentration plot is rectilinear over the range 0.05-1.0 µg/mL, with a lower detection limit of 5 ng/mL and limit of quantitation of 16 ng/mL. The developed method was successfully applied to the analysis of the drug in its commercial capsules and suspension, mean recoveries of OST were 99.97 ± 1.67% and 100.17 ± 1.18%, respectively (n = 3). Statistical comparison of the results obtained by the proposed and comparison method revealed no significant difference in the performance of the two methods regarding accuracy and precision. The proposed method was further extended to in vitro determination of the studied drug in spiked human plasma as a preliminary investigation; the mean recovery (n = 3) was 98.68 ± 5.8%. A reaction pathway was postulated.

Abstract
A sensitive, simple and selective spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of Lamotrigine (LMT) in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids. The method is based on reaction of LMT with o-phthalaldehyde in presence of 2-mercaptoethanol in borate buffer of pH 9.8 to yield a highly fluorescent derivative that is measured at 448 nm after excitation at 337 nm. The different experimental parameters affecting the development and stability of the reaction product were carefully studied and optimized. The fluorescence-concentration plot was rectilinear over the range of 0.1-1.0 microg ml(-1) with lower limit of detection (LOD) 0.02 microg ml(-1) and limit of quantification (LOQ) 0.06 microg ml(-1) respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to the the analysis of commercial tablets. Statistical comparison of the results obtained by the proposed and reference method revealed no significant difference in the performance of the two methods regarding the accuracy and precision respectively. The proposed method was further extended to the in-vitro and in-vivo determination of the drug in spiked and real human plasma. The mean percentage recoveries in spiked and real human plasma (n = 3) were 95.78 +/- 1.37 and 90.93 +/- 2.34 respectively. Interference arising from co-administered drugs was also studied. A proposal for the reaction pathway with o-phthalaldehyde was postulated.

Abstract
Lisinopril, an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor drug, was encapsulated in poly(lactide-co-glicolide) (PLGA) nanoparticles (NP) for site-specific delivery by catheters in prevention of restenosis. NP were prepared by emulsification-diffusion method. The PLGA type, stabilizing agent type and its concentration were studied as process variables. The z-average particle size varied between 265-412 nm. The highest zeta potential was seen in NP prepared with Pluronic F-68. None of the studied variables or their interactions had a significant effect on the particle size while all had main effect on the zeta potential. The highest entrapment efficiency was 93% and all studied variables and their interactions except PLGA type and its interaction with the stabilizer type had significant effects on the loading. Baker-Lonsdale model was the most appropriate model for release of lisinopril from NP. Five per cent PLGA 75:25 and 5% Pluronic F-68 showed promising results for 21 days release of lisinopril as an anti-restenotic agent.

Abstract
The separation and chromatographic behaviour of five ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitors and their four active metabolites were investigated by normal-phase thin-layer chromatography on silica using several mono- and binary non-aqueous solvent systems. The linear relationship between the RM values and the composition of employed mobile phase was obtained. The hydrophobicity parameters 0M R and C0 were determined from the regression data of the plots, analogous to reversed-phase chromatography. The chromatographically obtained hydrophobicity parameters were correlated with the calculated log P values. The current results were correlated with the lipophilicity of the studied ACE inhibitors and their metabolites, previously estimated by reversed-phase chromatography.

Abstract
A simple and sensitive liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry method employing electrospray ionization, to quantify lisinopril in human plasma using pseudoephedrine hydrochloride as the internal standard (IS), has been developed and validated. A mixture of methanol and 0.1% formic acid in water (50:50, v/v) was used as the isocratic mobile phase. A simple liquid-liquid extraction procedure was used as sample preparation method. The method validation demonstrated the specificity, lower limit of quantification, accuracy, and precision of measurements. Selected reaction monitoring was specific for lisinopril and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride; no endogenous materials from blank plasma interfered with the analysis of lisinopril or the IS. The assay was linear over the concentration range 0.78-100 ng/mL. The correlation coefficients for the calibration curves ranged from 0.9984-0.9998. The intra- and inter-day precision, determined for quality control samples, were less than 4.18%. The method was employed in a pharmacokinetic study after oral administration of 10 mg lisinopril to 20 healthy volunteers.

Abstract
Two simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric methods have been proposed for the determination of lisinopril in pure form and pharmaceutical formulations. The methods are based on the charge transfer complexation reaction of the drug with 7,7,8,8,tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) and p-chloranilic acid (pCA) in polar media. The lisinopril-TCNQ and lisinopril-pCA charge transfer complexes dissociate in acetone and methanol, respectively, and yield coloured TCNQ and pCA radical anions which are measured spectrophotometrically at 743 and 525 nm. Under optimised experimental conditions, Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 2-26 and 25-300 microg ml-1 with molar absorptivity of 1.432x10(4) and 1.192x10(4) l mol-1 cm-1 for TCNQ and pCA methods, respectively. Both the methods have been applied to the determination of lisinopril in pharmaceutical dosage forms. Results of analysis are validated statistically.

Abstract
The purpose of the research described herein was to develop and validate a stability-indicating HPLC method for lisinopril, lisinopril degradation product (DKP), methyl paraben and propyl paraben in a lisinopril extemporaneous formulation. The method developed in this report is selective for the components listed above, in the presence of the complex and chromatographically rich matrix presented by the Bicitra and Ora-Sweet SF formulation diluents. The method was also shown to have adequate sensitivity with a detection limit of 0.0075 microg/mL (0.03% of lisinopril method concentration). The validation elements investigated showed that the method has acceptable specificity, recovery, linearity, solution stability, and method precision. Acceptable robustness indicates that the assay method remains unaffected by small but deliberate variations, which are described in ICH Q2A and Q2B guidelines.

Abstract
An analytical method based on liquid chromatography with positive ion electrospray ionization (ESI) coupled to tandem mass spectrometry detection was developed for the determination of Lisinopril in human plasma using Enalaprilat as internal standard. The analyte and internal standard were extracted from the plasma samples by solid-phase extraction using Waters HLB Oasis SPE cartridges and chromatographed on a C8 analytical column. The mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile/water (60:40, v/v) + 20 mM acetic acid + 4.3 mM of triethylamine. The method had a chromatographic total run-time of 6.5 min and was linear within the range 2.00-200 ng/ml. Detection was carried out on a Micromass triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometer by multiple reaction monitoring (MRM). The precision (CV%) and accuracy, calculated from limit of quantification (LOQ) samples (n = 8), were 8.9 and 98.9%, respectively. The method herein described was employed in a bioequivalence study of two tablet formulations of Lisinopril 20mg.

Abstract
A selective, sensitive and precise HPLC method with fluorimetric detection has been developed for the assay of lisinopril in human plasma and urine. The clean up of the sample was carried out by solid-phase extraction, firstly with C18-cartridge and secondly with a silica-cartridge. After a pre-column derivatization with fluorescamine, the reaction mixture was chromatographed on C18-column with gradient elution, using methanol and 0.02 M phosphate buffer (pH=3.2). The fluorescamine-lisinopril derivative was detected fluorimetrically by monitoring the emission at 477 nm, with excitation at 383 nm. Linear quantitative response curve was generated over a concentration range of 5-200 ng/ml and 25-1000 ng/ml for plasma and urine samples, respectively. The mean recovery of lisinopril from plasma and urine was 63.41 and 74.08%, respectively. Intra-day and inter-day R.S.D. and R.M.E. values at three different concentrations were assessed. The method was applied for pharmacokinetic study in a healthy volunteer after a single oral dose of 20 mg of the drug.

Abstract
Two sensitive, simple and specific methods based on spectrophotometry and reversed-phase HPLC with fluorimetric detection are described for the determination of lisinopril in dosage forms as well as in spiked human plasma using solid phase extraction (SPE) procedures. Both methods are based on the derivatization of lisinopril with 7-chloro-4-nitrobenzo-2-oxa-1,3-diazole (NBD-Cl) in borate buffer of pH 9 to yield a yellow, fluorescent product. The spectrophotometric method depends on measuring the formed yellow color at 470 nm after optimization of the reaction conditions. The HPLC method is based on measurement of the derivatized product using fluorescence detection at 540 nm (excitation at 470 nm). The separation of the derivatized drug, the excess reagent and the internal standard (bumetanide) was performed on a reversed-phase ODS column using isocratic elution with methanol-0.02 M sodium dihydrogen phosphate, pH 3.0 (55:45, v/v) at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min. The calibration graphs were linear over the concentration ranges 2-20 or 0.02-3.2 microg/ml of lisinopril with minimum detectability of 0.3 and 0.008 microg/ml (6.1 x 10(-7) and 1.7 x 10(-8)M) for the spectrophotometric and the HPLC methods, respectively. The proposed methods were applied without any interference from the tablet excipients for the determination of lisinopril in dosage forms, either alone or co-formulated with hydrochlorothiazide. Furthermore, the use of the HPLC method was extended to the in vitro determination of the drug in spiked human plasma. Interference from endogenous amino acids has been overcomed by using the solid phase extraction technique, the percentage recovery (n=6) was 101.6+/-3.35.

Abstract
An accurate and precise spectrofluorimetric method is presented for the determination of lisinopril based on the formation of a derivative formed with 7-chloro-4-nitrobenzofurazan. The derivatization reaction proceeds quantitatively at pH 8.5-9.0 and 60 degrees C in 70 min when the molar ratio of reagent to the drug is 170. After the extraction with ethyl acetate the fluorescence intensity of the derivative was measured at 528 nm with excitation at 465 nm. Calibration graph is rectilinear over the range of 50-1000 ng/ml with detection and determination limits of 20 and 50 ng/ml, respectively. The regression equation is I(f) = 0.198C-0.299 (r = 0.9999). The method was applied to the commercially available tablets and the results were statistically compared with those obtained by official HPLC method.

Abstract
A spectrophotometric method for the determination of lisinopril (LN) in single and multicomponent tablets also containing hydrochlorothiazide (HCT), based on the derivatization reaction with 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (FDNB, Sanger reagent) is described. Aqueous solutions of LN (4.5-27.2 x 10(-5) M) react with FDNB (in acetonitrile) at pH 8.2 (borate buffer) in dark at 60 degrees C for 45 min. After acidification with HCl to decolourize 2,4-dinitrophenolate (the alkaline hydrolysis product of FDNB), the LN-derivative is measured at 356.5 or 405.5 nm (only at 405.5 nm if HCT is present). The calibration curves are linear (r>0.996 at both wavelengths) with a between days precision of slopes of 1.8 and 2.3% at 405.5 and 356.5 nm, respectively. The quantification limit is 3.49 x 10(-5) M (0.014 mg) at 405.5 nm and 5.69 x 10(-5) M (0.023 mg) at 356.5 nm. The accuracy and precision of the method were evaluated with the analysis of synthetic mixtures (Er%: 0.30-0.60 and 0.27-1.00 at 405.5 and 356.5 nm, respectively; RSD%: 0.48-0.92 and 0.35-0.51 at 405.5 and 356.5 nm, correspondingly; recovery%: 99.2-100.4 at 405.5 nm and 97.9-104.3 at 356.5 nm). Results obtained from the analysis of commercial preparations with the proposed method are in good agreement with those obtained with the official HPLC method (% relative difference 0.2-2.5%). The developed method can be used for rapid routine analysis for content uniformity, dissolution profile studies and assay of pharmaceutical preparations.

Abstract
This write-up provides a review on the development of validated stability-indicating assay methods (SIAMs) for drug substances and products. The shortcomings of reported methods with respect to regulatory requirements are highlighted. A systematic approach for the development of stability-indicating methods is discussed. Critical issues related to development of SIAMs, such as separation of all degradation products, establishment of mass balance, stress testing of formulations, development of SIAMs for combination products, etc. are also addressed. The applicability of pharmacopoeial methods for the analysis of stability samples is discussed. The requirements of SIAMs for stability study of biotechnological substances and products are also touched upon.
