Abstract
Burkholderia gladioli is a Gram-negative bacterium that biosynthesizes a cocktail of potent antimicrobial compounds, including the antifungal phenolic glycoside sinapigladioside. Herein, we report the total synthesis of the proposed structures of gladiosides I and II, two structurally related phenolic glycosides previously isolated from B. gladioli OR1 cultures. Importantly, the physical and analytical data of the synthetic compounds were in significant discrepancies with the natural products suggesting a misassignment of the originally proposed structures. Furthermore, we have uncovered an acid-catalyzed fragmentation mechanism converting the α,β-unsaturated methyl carbamate-containing gladioside II into the aldehyde-containing gladioside I. Our results lay the foundation for the expeditious synthesis of derivatives of these Burkholderia-derived phenolic glycosides, which would enable to decipher their biological roles and potential pharmacological properties.

Abstract
Total synthesis of the pentasaccharide repeating unit associated with the O-antigen of Enterobacter cloacae C4115 is reported. The synthesis of the said oligosaccharide was accomplished through rational protecting group manipulations on commercially available monosaccharides followed by stereoselective glycosylations either by activation of thioglycosides or glycosyl trichloroacetimidates and was found to be productive. Towards the synthesis of the rare sugar unit, α-d-FucNAc in this case, it was established that the methoxymethyl (MOM) group is advantageous over the earlier reported tetrahydro pyran (THP) protection. The effect of MOM-protection was successfully tested for the synthesis of a rare sugar synthon which can serve as a precursor to the rare d-fucosamine residue.

Abstract
A straightforward sequential synthetic strategy has been developed for the synthesis of a pentasaccharide repeating unit corresponding to the cell wall O-antigen of the Escherichia albertii O4 strain in very good yield with the desired configuration at the glycosidic linkages using thioglycosides and trichloroacetimidate derivatives as glycosyl donors and perchloric acid supported over silica (HClO4/SiO2) as a solid supported protic acid glycosyl activator. The expected configuration at the glycosidic linkages was achieved using a reasonable selection of protecting groups in the manosaccharide intermediates.

Abstract
The synthesis of three neoglycopeptides incorporating carbohydrate haptens, differing in length, covalently linked to a non natural universal T helper peptide is disclosed. They were synthesized according to a blockwise strategy based on the condensation of appropriate di-, tri-, and tetrasaccharide trichloroacetimidate donors onto an azidoethyl 2-acetamido-2-deoxybeta-D-glucopyranoside acceptor. Use of thiol-maleimide coupling chemistry allowed site-selective efficient conjugation.
