Abstract
Aprotic organic solvents such as acetonitrile offer a potential solution to promote electrochemical CO2 reduction over the competing hydrogen evolution reaction. Tetraalkylammonium cations (TAA+) are widely used as supporting electrolytes in organic media due to their high solubility and conductivity. The alkyl chain length of TAA+ cations is known to influence electron transfer processes in electrochemical systems by the adsorption of TAA+, causing modifications of the double layer. In this work, we elucidate the influence of the cation chain length on the mechanism and selectivity of the CO2RR reaction under controlled dry and wet acetonitrile conditions on copper cathodes. We find that the hydrophobic hydration character of the cation, which can be tuned by the chain length, has an effect on product distribution, altering the reaction pathway. Under dry conditions, smaller cations (TEA+) preferentially promote oxalate production via dimerization of the CO2 ·- intermediate, whereas formate is favored in the presence of water via protonation reaction. Larger cations (TBA+ > TPA+ > TEA+) favor the generation of CO regardless of water content. In situ FTIR analysis showed that TBA+ cations are able to stabilize adsorbed CO more effectively than TEA+, explaining why larger cations generate a higher proportion of CO. Our findings also suggest that higher cation concentrations suppress hydrogen evolution, particularly with larger cations, highlighting the role of cation chain length size and hydrophobic hydration shell.

Abstract
Three new molecular complexes (phen)3(2-amino-Bz)2(H+)(BF4-)·3H2O 5, (phen)3(2-amino-5(6)-methyl-Bz)2(H+)(BF4-)·H2O 6, and (phen)(1-methyl-2-amino-Bz)(H+)(BF4-) 7, were prepared by self-assembly of 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and various substituted 2-aminobenzimidazoles. Confirmation of their structures was established through spectroscopic methods and elemental analysis. The X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the crystal structure of 7 is stabilized by the formation of hydrogen bonds and short contacts. In addition, the molecular geometry and electron structure of molecules 5 and 6 were theoretically evaluated using density functional theory (DFT) methods. According to the DFT B3LYP/6-311+G* calculations, the protonated benzimidazole (Bz) units act as NH hydrogen bond donors, binding two phenanthrolines and a BF4- ion. Non-protonated Bz unit form hydrogen bonds with the N-atoms of a third molecule phen. The molecular assembly is held together by π-π stacking between benzimidazole and phenanthroline rings, allowing for N-atoms to associate with water molecules. The complexes were tested in vitro for their tumor cell growth inhibitory effects on prostate (PC3), breast (MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7), and cervical (HeLa) cancer cell lines using MTT-dye reduction assay. The in vitro cytotoxicity analysis and spectrophotometric investigation in the presence of ct-DNA, showed that self-assembled molecules 5-7 are promising DNA-binding anticancer agents warranting further in-depth exploration.

Abstract
Utilization of mixtures of differently coordinating aromatic N-donor ligands leads to the formation of the two new compounds {[Ni(phen)2]2Sn2S6}·4,4'-bipy·½H2O I and {[Ni(phen)2]2Sn2S6}·2,2'-bipy II that could be prepared under solvothermal conditions (4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine, C10H8N2; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, C12H8N2; 2,2'-bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine, C10H8N2). In the structures of both compounds Ni-S bond formation is observed which is highly unusual when only bidentate N-donor ligands are applied in the reaction mixture. The detailed analysis of the crystal structure indicates that the presence of 4,4'-bipy and 2,2'-bipy molecules are essential for the stabilization of the arrangement of the constituents. The main structural motif {[Ni(phen)2]2Sn2S6} is arranged generating off center parallel stacking of the phen ligands. The empty spaces between the {[Ni(phen)2]2Sn2S6} moieties are occupied by either 2,2'-bipy (I) or 4,4'-bipy (II) molecules which are oriented towards the phen ligands to form intermolecular π-π interactions.

Abstract
The mononuclear Schiff base complexes of the type, [ML(CH(3)OH)(2)] [M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)] have been synthesized by template condensation of L-leucine and glyoxal. The complexes have been characterized on the basis of the results of the elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectroscopic studies viz, FT-IR, Mass, (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR spectra. The UV-vis and magnetic moment data revealed an octahedral geometry around Co(II), Ni(II) ion with distortion around Cu(II) ion complex confirmed by EPR data. The conductivity data show a non-electrolytic nature of the complexes. Absorption and fluorescence spectroscopic studies support that all the complexes exhibit a significant binding to calf thymus DNA.

Abstract
A new complex salt of composition [Co(phen)(3)](3)(V(4)O(12))(2)Cl·27H(2)O (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline and [V(4)O(12)](4-) = tetrameric dodecaoxotetravanadate ion) was synthesized by reacting appropriate salts in aqueous medium. The complex salt has been characterized by elemental analyses, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), cyclic voltammetry (CV), FT-IR and UV/Vis spectroscopies, solubility product and conductance measurements. Single crystal X-ray structure determination revealed ionic structure consisting of three complex cations, [Co(phen)(3)](3+), two [V(4)O(12)](4-) anions, one chloride and twenty seven lattice waters. Detailed structural and spectroscopic analyses of [Co(phen)(3)](3)(V(4)O(12))(2)Cl·27H(2)O show that the large anion is stabilized by the large cationic metal complex as there is preferred shape compatibility that leads to a large number of lattice stabilizing non-covalent interactions.

Abstract
A series of new ternary zinc(II) complexes [Zn(L(1-10))(phen)], where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline and H(2)L(1-10)=tridentate Schiff base ligands derived from the condensation of amino acids (glycine, l-phenylalanine, l-valine, l-alanine, and l-leucine) and salicylaldehyde-5-sulfonates (sodium salicylaldehyde-5-sulfonate and sodium 3-methoxy-salicylaldehyde-5-sulfonate), have been synthesized. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis, (1)H NMR, and (13)C NMR spectra. The IR spectra of the complexes showed large differences between nu(as)(COO) and nu(s)(COO), Deltanu (nu(as)(COO)-nu(s)(COO)) of 191-225 cm(-1), indicating a monodentate coordination of the carboxylate group. Spectral data showed that in these ternary complexes the zinc atom is coordinated with the Schiff base ligand acts as a tridentate ONO moiety, coordinating to the metal through its phenolic oxygen, imine nitrogen, and carboxyl oxygen, and also with the neutral planar chelating ligand, 1,10-phenanthroline, coordinating through nitrogens.
