Abstract
Photoelectrochemical (PEC) detection as a potential development strategy for hydrogen peroxide and dopamine sensors has received extensive attentions. Herein, BiOI/ZnIn2S4-X (X = n (BiOI)/n(ZnIn2S4)) heterojunction was synthesized using various molar ratios via a two-step method. A series of characterization techniques were employed to analyze the composition, surface structure, valence state, and optical properties of BiOI/ZnIn2S4-X. The results show that BiOI/ZnIn2S4-X perform significantly better than both BiOI and ZnIn2S4. Furthermore, BiOI/ZnIn2S4-9% exhibits superior visible light absorption capacity and photocurrent response among all of the BiOI/ZnIn2S4-X tested. Therefore, a PEC sensor was developed using BiOI/ZnIn2S4-9% for the detection of hydrogen peroxide and dopamine. The linear detection range for hydrogen peroxide spans from to 1 ~ 40,000 µM, with the LOD of 0.036 µM (S/N = 3). For dopamine, the corresponding values are 2 ~ 250 µM for the linear detection range, and 0.017 μM for the LOD, respectively. The sensor exhibits demonstrates excellent stability, reproducibility and resistance to interference, enabling the detection of real samples and thus holds promising application potential.

Abstract
Dopamine (DA) is an important neurotransmitter. Abnormal levels of it in human body can increase the risk of many neurological diseases. Thus, developing a simple, sensitive detection method of DA is crucial. In this paper, we reported a "signal-off" anodic PEC sensor based on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass modified ZnIn2S4/TiO2 heterojunction (ZnIn2S4/TiO2/FTO) for DA detection. The experimental results show that the ZnIn2S4/TiO2/FTO electrode prepared by two-step hydrothermal method has a good photocurrent response performance under visible light. After incubation with DA, the photocurrent response decreases significantly because DA can rapidly oxidizes to polydopamine (PDA) through the action of superoxide radical (·O2-) and hydroxyl radical (·OH) intermediate species, which are intermediates produced by the ZnIn2S4/TiO2/FTO electrode under visible light irradiation. The constructed PEC sensor has a good linear relationship in the concentration range from 0.5 to 1000.0 μM, and its detection limit is 0.253 μM. In addition, the results of the proposed PEC sensor in real serum samples are satisfactory. The PEC sensor provides a promising platform for DA detection, laying the foundation for future advances in disease diagnosis and prevention.

Abstract
As an important prognostic indicator in breast cancer, human epithelial growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) is of importance for assessing prognosis of breast cancer patients, whose accurate and facile analysis are imperative in clinical diagnosis and treatment. Herein, photoactive Z-scheme UiO-66/CdIn2S4 heterojunction was constructed by a hydrothermal method, whose optical property and photoactivity were critically investigated by a range of techniques, combined by elucidating the interfacial charge transfer mechanism. Meanwhile, PtPdCu nanoflowers (NFs) were fabricated by a simple aqueous wet-chemical method, whose peroxidase (POD)-mimicking catalytic activity was scrutinized by representative tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) oxidation in H2O2 system. Taken together, the UiO-66/CdIn2S4 based photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor was established for quantitative analysis of HER-2, where the detection signals were further magnified through catalytic precipitation reaction towards 4-chloro-1-naphthol (4-CN) oxidation (assisted by the PtPdCu NFs nanozyme). The PEC aptasensor presented a broader linear range within 0.1 pg mL-1-0.1 μg mL-1 and a lower limit of detection of 0.07 pg mL-1. This work developed a new PEC aptasensor for ultrasensitive determination of HER-2, holding substantial promise for clinical diagnostics.

Abstract
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) exhibit excellent photoelectrically active structures and serve as channels for photon capture and charge carrier transport. However, their relatively high charge-carrier recombination rates and lack of specific recognition sites limit their application in photoelectrochemical sensing. This paper reports a functionalized donor-acceptor (D-A) COF comprising electron-rich polycyclic aromatic moieties and electron-deficient triazines (Tz) incorporating boronic acid through ligand exchange. The number of aromatic rings in the polycyclic aromatic moiety is crucial for establishing an efficient D-A system within COF. In the absence of an external electron donor, the anthracene-based COF exhibited a five-fold enhancement in photocurrent compared to the naphthalene-based COF. The resulting anthracene-based D-A COF exhibited enhanced orbital overlap and electron push-pull interactions, facilitating more effective charge separation. Furthermore, introducing boronic acid enabled the selective enrichment of low-concentration external electron donors, such as dopamine, in the inner Helmholtz plane. This ingenious approach establishes a unique dual-channel D-A system that allows direct measurement of dopamine in serum. Under optimized conditions, the test platform achieves good correspondence for dopamine at 1 to 100 nM and 0.5 to 100 μM with a detecting limit of 0.36 nM (3σ/S, n = 11). This strategy introduces a novel dimension to photoelectrochemical sensing, focusing on the effect of spatial separation between the external electron donor and the photoelectrode interface that intricately shapes the behavior and enhances the performance of the photoelectric system.

Abstract
The stressful conditions of today-life make it urgent the timely prevention and treatment of many physiological and psychological disorders related to stress. According to the significant progress made in the near future, rapid, accurate, and on-spot measurement of cortisol hormone as a dominant stress biomarker using miniaturized digital devices is not far from expected. With a special potency in the fields of diagnosis and healthcare monitoring, aptamer-mediated biosensors (aptasensors) are promising for the quantitative monitoring of cortisol levels in the different matrices (sweat, saliva, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, blood serum, etc.). Accordingly, this in-depth study reviews the superior achievements in the aptasensing strategies to detect cortisol hormone with the synergism of diverse two/three dimensional nanostructured materials, enzymatic amplification components, and antibody motifs. The represented discussions offer a universal perspective to achieve lab-on-chip aptasensing arrays as future user-friendly skin-patchable electronic gadgets for on-site and real-time quantification of cortisol levels.

Abstract
Molecularly imprinted photoelectrochemical sensors (MIPES) have gained significant attention in the detection field due to their high selectivity and accuracy. However, their sensitivity still needs improvement. Here we developed a TiO2-based MIPES (TiO2 NRs/NiOOH/rMIP) to detect ciprofloxacin (CIP). We identified the photoactive sites of TiO2 by NiOOH photo-deposition and anchored the imprinted sites on the photoactive sites by complexation between CIP and NiOOH. By regulating the imprinted sites, the photocurrent difference before and after the addition of CIP increases and the detection sensitivity of CIP is improved. Moreover, a PN heterojunction is formed between TiO2 and NiOOH, which enables rapid transfer of photoexcited holes and electrons to different semiconductors under the built-in electric field. This leads to improved photoactivity of TiO2 and further increases the sensitivity of MIPES. Compared with sensors prepared by the traditional electro-polymerization CIP and Molecularly imprinted polymers (TiO2 NRs/NiOOH/eMIP), TiO2 NRs/NiOOH/rMIP as constructed in this work displays higher sensitivity, wider linear detection range, and lower limit of detection (LOD). Additionally, TiO2 NRs/NiOOH/rMIP shows good selectivity, stability, and recovery rate, and has a promising application prospect in the actual detection of antibiotics.

Abstract
A new photoelectrochemical immunoassay based on self-assembled p-n Ag2O@Bi2O2S nanoflower heterojunction was designed and developed for quantitative monitoring of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in biological fluids. Primarily, self-assembled p-n Ag2O@Bi2O2S nanoflower heterojunctions were served as the photoactive materials and coated onto the surface of electrodes. Subsequently, the glucose oxidase (GOx) was bound to the detection antibody (mAb2) labeled gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) and then were employed to accomplish a sandwich-like immunoreaction to generate H2O2 on a microplate incubated with monoclonal anti-PSA antibodies. In the presence of PSA, the product (H2O2) was catalyzed by the substrate, which was used as an electron sacrificial agent to improve signal conversion and capture of photogenerated electrons. Under optimum conditions, a wide linear range of 0.01-50 ng mL-1 and a low detection limit of 5.3 pg mL-1 were accomplished with the sensor, exhibiting an excellent photocurrent response. Moreover, the proposed sensor revealed satisfactory reproducibility, high selectivity, and acceptable accuracy for the real sample testing. Importantly, our work provides a novel strategy for high sensitivity detection of disease-associated biomarkers for the early diagnosis of cancers.

Abstract
The key to developing sensors for chiral drug determination is to exclude interference from enantiomers. In this study, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) were introduced to prepare a chiral sensor for levofloxacin detection. The MIP was electropolymerised on the surface of the Cu/Fe-benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate MOF (Cu/Fe-BTC)-modified Au electrode using levofloxacin as a template molecule. After eluting the levofloxacin, a chiral sensor with recognition sites for levofloxacin was obtained. With this site as a switch, a novel method for detecting levofloxacin was established. Because of the enhanced recognition effect, the sensor can effectively exclude the enantiomeric interference of d-ofloxacin. Moreover, Cu/Fe-BTC can effectively amplify the current response signal and improve the sensitivity of the sensor. The linear range of the sensor was 5 to 4000 × 10-11 mol L-1, and the detection limit was 2.07 × 10-11 mol L-1. When applied to detecting levofloxacin in actual samples, the sensor showed a 92.7-109.8% recovery.

However, due to its high energy, it has some downsides as an irradiation source for overall system, so it is urgent to achieve effective near-infrared (NIR) light absorption because it makes up a significant portion of the solar spectrum. Herein, up-conversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) that could increase the energy of low-energy radiation were combined with semiconductor CdS as the photoactive material (UCNPs/CdS), which broadens the response range of solar spectrum. The NIR light-excited self-powered sensor could be produced via oxidizing H2O at photoanode and lowering dissolved oxygen at cathode under the NIR light without external voltage. Meanwhile, molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was added to photoanode as a recognition element to increase the sensor's selectivity. The open-circuit voltage of the self-powered sensor grew linearly as chlorpyrifos concentration climbed from 0.01 to 100 ng mL-1, showing good selectivity as well as reproducibility. This work provides valuable basis for the preparation of efficient and practical PEC sensor with NIR light response.

Abstract
In this study, PO43- doped Bi2WO6 (BWO-PO) was prepared by hydrothermal method, and then copolymer of thiophene and thiophene-3-acetic acid (P(Th-T3A)) was chemically deposited on the BWO-PO surface. The introduction of PO43- created point defects, greatly improving the photoelectric catalytic performance of Bi2WO6; the copolymer semiconductor could form heterojunction with Bi2WO6 to promote the separation of photo-generated carriers, due to its proper band gap. Furthermore, the copolymer could enhance the light absorption ability and photo-electronic conversion efficiency. Hence, the composite had good photoelectrochemical properties. When it was combined with carcinoembryonic antibody through the interaction of -COOH groups of the copolymer and the end groups of antibody for constructing ITO-based PEC immunosensor, the resulting sensor exhibited superb response to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), with a wide linear range of 1 pg/mL-20 ng/mL, and a relatively low detection limit of 0.41 pg/mL. It also showed high anti-interference ability, stability, and simplicity. The sensor has been successfully applied to monitor the concentration of CEA in serum. The sensing strategy can also be applied to the detection of other markers by changing the recognition elements, hence it has good application potential.

Abstract
A photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing platform with high sensitivity and selectivity has been fabricated based on Au nanoparticles (Au NPs) modified three dimensionally ordered macroporous (3DOM) TiO2 nanostructure frame for trace detection of an endocrine disrupting pesticide, atrazine (ATZ). The resultant photoanode (Au NPs/3DOM TiO2) shows enhanced PEC performance under visible light due to multi signal amplification of the unique structure of 3DOM TiO2 and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of Au NPs. ATZ aptamers are used as recognition elements and immobilized on Au NPs/3DOM TiO2 by Au-S bond in large packing density and dominant spatial orientation. The specific recognition and high binding affinity between aptamer and ATZ provides the PEC aptasensor with excellent sensitivity. The detection limit is 0.167 ng/L. Besides, this PEC aptasensor exhibits outstanding anti-interference ability in 100-fold concentration of other endocrine disrupting compounds and has been applied successfully to analyze ATZ in real water samples. A simple but efficient PEC aptasensing platform has therefore been successfully developed with high sensitivity, selectivity and repeatability for pollutant monitoring and potential risk evaluation in the environment with great application prospect.

Abstract
The advantages of porosity and stable unpaired electrons of porphyrinic organic polymers (POPs) with free radicals are exclusive and potentially practical functionalities and combining the semiconductor-like characteristics of these materials and metal ions has been an effective way to assemble an efficient photocatalytic system. Herein, a new ruthenium (Ru) ion-encapsulated porphyrinic organic polymer (POP/Ru) is facilely synthesized as a proper photoresponsive nanozyme with unique photo-oxidase properties. Surprisingly, the proposed POP/Ru revealed outstanding photoresponsive oxidase-mimicking activity due to the synergetic effect of the integration of Ru and π-electrons of POP, which boosts charge separation and transport. POP/Ru was applied to the oxidation of o-phenylenediamine (o-PDA) as a chromogenic probe for producing a colorimetric signal. The kinetic study reveals that these photo-oxidase mimics have a significant affinity for the o-PDA chromogenic agent owing to a lower Km and superior Vmax. Further findings demonstrate that the presence of the l-arginine (l-Arg) target causes an inhibition effect on the photo-nanozymatic colorimetry of POP/Ru. This research develops the applications of the comprehensive colorimetric strategy for ultrasensitive l-Arg monitoring with a limit of detection (LOD) of 15.2 nM in the dynamic range of 4.0 nM-340 μM and illuminates that the proposed photo-oxidase nanozyme as a visual strategy is feasible in l-Arg environmentally friendly colorimetric detection in juice samples.

Abstract
The emergence of new diseases and the unplanned industrialization of cities have led to new diseases and the subsequent use of antibiotics. Hence the remediation of wastewater containing antibiotics and their severe pollution has raised serious concerns in recent years. Herein coral-shaped α-Fe2O3/ZnO/reduced graphene oxide (r-GO)-like carbon heterojunction in-situ were prepared from basil seed as a sustainable biomass resource and applied for the photodegradation of the oxytetracycline (OTC) as a typical antibiotic in a helical plug flow photoreactor (HPFPR) via persulfate activation under visible light irradiation. Spectroscopy and electrochemical results confirmed the tunable band structure and quick light absorption, superior charge separation and transfer, satisfactory charge carrier lifetime, and long-term stability for the prepared photocatalyst. The 98% degradation efficiency was achieved for OTC within 90 min fitted by a first-order kinetic model with the rate constant of 0.1248 min-1. The finding proves that HPFPR exhibited a higher degradation rate of OTC by 2.3 times compared to the batch reactor. The 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model confirmed the outstanding performance of the HPFPR. Scavenging experiments integrated with mott Schottky and DRS results revealed that rGO intensifies the S-scheme charge carrier transfer and built-in electric field and reduces the recombination. Finally, this work has substantial potential for the in-situ synthesis of environmental-friendly and large-scale metal oxide heterojunctions in natural carbon supports as well as scale-up and gives novel insights from molecular and engineering points of view into the wastewater remediation processes and clean water production.

Abstract
This study reports the development of a vanadium-docked porphyrinic covalent organic framework as a novel class of highly polar photoactive materials. Thanks to its extended π-electron conjugation and high chemical stabilities, this framework can serve as an oxidase-Like photo-nanozyme for photocatalytic oxidation of o-phenylenediamine (o-PDA) and a colorimetric substrate for the production of the yellow-colored oxidized o-PDA (o-PDAox). The physicochemical properties of the as-prepared photo-nanozyme were characterized by several analytical techniques. Its enhanced light harvesting and charge separation and transfer were also verified by electrochemical and spectroscopic analysis. This photo-nonenzymatic colorimetric assay was applied for the sensitive L-Arginine (L-Arg) detection as a typical amino acid in the linear range of 8.1 nM-330 μM with a limit of detection (LOD) of 3.5 nM. The findings of this research confirmed the safety and feasibility of the proposed photo-nonenzymatic colorimetric sensing strategy for the detection of L-Arg and other similar biomolecules in food samples. Kinetic investigation revealed that the photo-responsive oxidase mimic exhibits satisfactory Km (0.47 mM) and Vmax (42.0 μM/s) values. This work broadened our insight into the development of modified porphyrinic-COF-based visible light-responsive oxidase-like photo-nanozyme for environmentally friendly colorimetric biosensing.

Abstract
Herein, a novel photoactive poly(3,4-ethyl-enedioxythiophene) (PEDOT)/FeOOH/BiVO4 nanohybrid with excellent photoelectrochemical (PEC) efficiency was assembled for the construction of an ultrasensitive biosensor for microRNA-375-3p (miRNA-375-3p) detection. In comparison with the traditional FeOOH/BiVO4 photoactive composite, the PEDOT/FeOOH/BiVO4 nanohybrids exhibited markedly enhanced photocurrent due to the promoted interfacial charge separation by PEDOT, which was used not only as an electron conductor but also as a localized photothermal heater to enhance the photogenerated carrier separation. Based on this PEDOT/FeOOH/BiVO4 photoelectrode and an enzyme-free signal amplification strategy including a target-induced catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) and hybridization chain reaction (HCR), a PEC sensing platform for the detection of miRNA-375-3p was established, achieving a wide linear range from 1 fM to 10 pM with a low detection limit of 0.3 fM. Moreover, this work provides a general photocurrent enhancement strategy for the development of high-performing PEC biosensors for sensitive detection of biomarkers and early disease diagnosis.

Abstract
The presence of antibiotics in wastes and drinking water has led to serious environmental and health concerns, further necessitating the development of an advanced sustainable strategy to eliminate antibiotics from aquatic media. In this context, the present research reports the successful fabrication of a spinning disc photoreactor (SDPR) supported ZnO/Ag/WO3 S-scheme visible-light-driven thin-film photocatalyst to study the degradation of cephalexin (CPX) as a target pollutant under blue light irradiation. The optical, electrochemical and physicochemical characterization of the as-prepared thin-film samples were carried out by XRD, top-view FE-SEM, EDS-mapping, UV-Vis-DRS, contact angle, EIS, transient photocurrent, mott Schottky and AFM techniques. The rod shape morphology of the samples with moderate surface roughness, desirable hydrophobicity, low bandgap and remarkable band structure alignment confirmed the applicability of as-prepared thin-film with an average photon flux of 1.94 × 10-4-8.61 × 10-5 E's m-2 s-1. The use of a rotating catalytic disc impressively declined the photon propagation distance, decremented the probability of light absorption by the solution, and intensified the mass transfer rate. The maximum throughputs of 98.8% efficiencies for CPX degradation were achieved at a rotational speed of 180 rpm, the solution flow rate of 1.0 L min-1, the light intensity of 11 mW cm-2, and initial CPX concentration of 40 mg L-1, illumination time of 80 min, and pH of 6. Damkohler number (Da) value was found to be 1.23 × 10-2 at the optimum conditions, indicating the negligibility of the external mass transfer resistance in the SDPR. The photocatalytic mechanism was elucidated for finding the most operative radical species, suggesting the crucial role of ·O2- in photodegradation of CPX and a drastic improvement of the charge separation by S-scheme heterostructure and facilitation by Ag mediator. Findings indicated that the developed reusable and robust SDPR benefited from an s-scheme photocatalyst can be a promising technology for degradation of the organic compounds.

Abstract
This work reported a split-type photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunoassay for the detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) based on target-induced biocatalytic precipitation (BCP) by using In2O3/CdIn2S4 heterojunctions as the photosensitizers. The synthesized In2O3/CdIn2S4 heterojunctions improved the efficiency of charge separation and shortened the electron convey path to enhance the photocurrent, thus exhibiting high conductivity and low complexation rates of photogenerated electrons and holes. In the presence of CEA, horseradish peroxidase (HRP) catalyzed 4-chloro-1-naphthol (4-CN) to produce benzo-4-chloro-hexadienone (4-CD) through H2O2. Then, 4-CD was deposited onto the surface of In2O3/CdIn2S4 to reduce the photocurrent and realized the signal amplification. The PEC immunoassay revealed an excellent photocurrent toward target CEA within a wide range of 0.01-50 ng mL-1 at a low limit of detection of 2.8 pg mL-1 under the optimum conditions. Multiple switching light excitation tests demonstrated the good reliability and stability of the fabricated PEC biosensor. The accuracy was acceptable in comparison with human CEA enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit.
