Abstract
Ochratoxin A (OTA) in food poses a serious challenge to public health. Herein, using the nanobody-driven controllable aggregation of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in a glucose oxidase-tyramine-horseradish peroxidase (GOx-TYR-HRP) system, we propose a direct competitive plasmonic enzyme immunoassay (dc-PEIA) for OTA detection. The OTA-GOx conjugate catalyzes glucose to produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and then HRP catalyzes H2O2 to generate hydroxyl radical which induces the crosslink of TYR. Crosslinked TYR leads to aggregation of AuNPs through strong electrostatic interactions, which is tunable based on the competition of OTA-GOx and free OTA for binding the immobilized nanobody. The optimized dc-PEIA achieves an instrumental limit of detection (LOD) of 0.275 ng/mL and a visual LOD of 1.56 ng/mL. It exhibits good selectivity for OTA and accuracy in the analysis of pepper samples, with the confirmation of high-performance liquid chromatography. Overall, the dc-PEIA is demonstrated as a useful tool for detecting OTA in food.

Abstract
The sensitivity of immunoassays is generally limited by the low signal reporter/recognition element ratio. Nanomaterials serving as the carriers can enhance the loading number of signal reporters, thus improving the detection sensitivity. However, the general immobilization strategies, including direct physical adsorption and covalent coupling, may cause the random orientation and conformational change in proteins, partially or completely suppressing the enzymatic activity and the molecular recognition ability. In this work, we proposed a strategy to load recognition elements of antibodies and enzyme labels using boronic acid-modified metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as the nanocarriers for signal amplification. The conjugation strategy was proposed based on the boronate ester interactions between the carbohydrate moieties in antibodies and enzymes and the boronic acid moieties on MOFs. Both enzymes and MOFs could catalyze the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) by H2O2, therefore achieving dual signal amplification. To indicate the feasibility and sensitivity of the strategy, colorimetric immunoassays of prostate specific antigen (PSA) were performed with boronic acid-modified Cu-MOFs as peroxidase mimics to catalyze TMB oxidation and nanocarriers to load antibody and enzyme (horseradish peroxidase, HRP). According to the change in the absorbance intensity of the oxidized TMB (oxTMB), PSA at the concentration range of 1~250 pg/mL could be readily determined. In addition, this work presented a site-specific and oriented conjugation strategy for the modification of nanolabels with recognition elements and signal reporters, which should be valuable for the design of novel biosensors with high sensitivity and selectivity.

Abstract
In recent years, seeking and screening of compounds that can inhibit and/or depolymerize protein aggregation has been a hot issue in the field of pharmaceutical research. As a new material, quantum dots have been widely concerned by medical researchers. In present study, a novel 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid functionalized MoS2 quantum dots (4-MPBA-MoS2 QDs) was successfully synthesized through a one-pot hydrothermal approach by using molybdate dehydrate and 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid as Mo and S source, respectively. Transmission electron microscopy observation showed that the morphology and microstructure of the 4-MPBA-MoS2 QDs displayed uniform spherical shape with a diameter of approximately 1.5 ∼ 3.0 nm. The UV and fluorescence spectra experiments indicated that the prepared QDs had good water solubility and two weak absorption peaks were appeared at 280 nm and 310 nm. When the excitation wavelength was set to 310 nm, the 4-MPBA-MoS2 QDs had the strongest fluorescence intensity, and the maximum emission wavelength appeared at 405 nm. In vitro experiments showed that the 4-MPBA-MoS2 QDs could significantly reduce the aggregation of bovine serum albumin (BSA). Especially when the mass ratio of BSA to 4-MPBA-MoS2 QDs was 1:5, the inhibition rate could reach 76.4%. Cell experiment showed that the presence of 4-MPBA-MoS2 QDs could obviously decrease the cytotoxicity induced by BSA amyloid fibrils. Moreover, the depolymerization of BSA amyloid fibrils by 4-MPBA-MoS2 QDs and its excellent cell permeability were also observed. Molecular docking studies have shown that 4-MPBA-MoS2 QDs may stabilize the BSA structure through van der Waals forces, hydrophobic force, electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonds formed between the outer layer of 4-MPBA and BSA to prevent fibrosis aggregation. The results of this study suggested that 4-MPBA-MoS2 QDs showed low cytotoxicity, good biocompatibility and solubility, and had a great potential in the design of new drugs for the treatment of amyloid-related diseases.

Abstract
Immobilization of proteins and enzymes on solid supports has been utilized in a variety of applications, from improved protein stability on supported catalysts in industrial processes to fabrication of biosensors, biochips, and microdevices. A critical requirement for these applications is facile yet stable covalent conjugation between the immobilized and fully active protein and the solid support to produce stable, highly bio-active conjugates. Here, we report functionalization of solid surfaces (gold nanoparticles and magnetic beads) with bio-active proteins using site-specific and biorthogonal labeling and azide-alkyne cycloaddition, a click chemistry. Specifically, we recombinantly express and selectively label calcium-dependent proteins, calmodulin and calcineurin, and cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) with N-terminal azide-tags for efficient conjugation to nanoparticles and magnetic beads. We successfully immobilized the proteins on to the solid supports directly from the cell lysate with click chemistry, forgoing the step of purification. This approach is optimized to yield low particle aggregation and high levels of protein activity post-conjugation. The entire process enables streamlined workflows for bioconjugation and highly active conjugated proteins.

Abstract
With the promising advances in nanomedicine, numerous strategies have emerged for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Among them, enzyme-based multifunctional nanocomposites have attracted a great deal of attention in the field of catalytic biomedicine. These nanocomposites with high catalytic activity are capable of converting low/non-toxic substances into therapeutic ones, thus realizing highly efficient, site-specific therapy with minimal side effects. Enzyme-based nanocomposites for catalytic biomedicine are mainly divided into three types: (i) natural-enzyme based nanocomposites; (ii) artificial-nanozyme based nanocomposites; and (iii) nanocomposites of natural-enzymes and nanozymes. In this review, we discuss key aspects of enzyme-based catalytic biomedicine, including the construction of enzyme-based nanocomposites, their unique properties and applications in catalytic biomedicine. We also highlight the main challenges faced in this field, and provide relevant guidelines for the rational design and extensive application of enzyme-based nanocomposites from our point of view.

Abstract
It is of great importance to have sensitive and accurate detection of cis-diol-containing biologically related substances because of their important functions in the research fields of metabolomics, glycomics, and proteomics. Boronic acids can specifically and reversibly interact with 1,2- or 1,3-diols to form five or six cyclic esters. Based on this unique property, boronic acid-based materials have been used as synthetic receptors for the specific recognition and detection of cis-diol-containing species. This review critically summarizes the recent advances with boronic acid-based materials as recognition elements and signal labels for the detection of cis-diol-containing biological species, including ribonucleic acids, glycans, glycoproteins, bacteria, exosomes, and tumor cells. We also address the challenges and future perspectives for developing versatile boronic acid-based materials with various promising applications.

Abstract
This work designed a DNA dendrimer for the loading of signal molecule and the construction of amplified electrochemical immunosensing method. The DNA dendrimer was self-assembled by the hybridization of one couple of complementary oligonucleotides (DNA and cDNA) that were covalently conjugated to three arms of a Y-shaped cross-linker, tris(2-maleimidoethyl)amine (TMEA) respectively. The immunosensor was prepared by coating chitosan on glassy carbon electrode to covalently immobilize the capture antibody with glutaraldehyde as a linker. After the target protein was captured on the immunosensor, cDNA-labeled secondary antibody was bound on the surface via a sandwiched immunoreaction to introduce the DNA dendrimer onto immunosensor for loading abundant methylene blue as signal molecule, which amplified greatly the amperometric signal for immunoassay. Using prostate specific antigen (PSA) as a model analyte, this proposed method showed a wide linear range from 1 pg mL-1 to 10 ng mL-1 along with a limit of detection down to 0.26 pg mL-1. The designed strategy avoided complex synthesis of signal tags, and possessed excellent performance for analysis of practical samples, thus providing a new avenue for the development of signal amplification strategy and immunoassay methods.

Abstract
This work describes a convenient one-hour enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) formulated with conventional antibodies and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) reagents. The method utilizes aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) droplet formation based on poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-containing sample solution-triggered rehydration of dehydrated dextran (DEX) spots that contain all antibody reagents. Key advances in this paper include development of a formulation that allows a quick 1-hour overall incubation time and a procedure where inclusion of the HRP reagent in the PEG solution reduces the number of washing and incubation steps required to perform this assay. As an assay application, a 5-plex cytokine test compares cytokine secretion of differentially-treated human ThP-1 macrophages. Given the use of only readily available reagents and a common Western blot imaging system for the readout, this method is envisioned to be broadly applicable to a variety of multiplex immunoassays. To facilitate broader use, companion image processing software as an ImageJ plugin is also described and provided.

Abstract
Compared with absorbance, scattering-based dynamic light scattering (DLS) signal has higher sensitivity because its light-scattering intensity is very sensitive to changes in size, thereby enhancing the sensitivity. Herein, we first developed a DLS-enhanced direct competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (DLS-dcELISA) for ultrasensitive detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in corn. By using hydroxyl radical-induced gold nanoparticle (AuNP) aggregation to amplify AuNP scattering signals, the developed DLS-dcELISA exhibited ultrahigh sensitivity for AFB1. The detection limit was 0.12 pg mL-1, which was 153- and 385-fold lower than those obtained using plasmonic and colorimetric dcELISA. In addition, the DLS-dcELISA exhibited excellent selectivity, high accuracy, and strong practicality. Overall, this work presented a simple and universal strategy for improving the sensitivity of traditional ELISA platform only by using the sensitive DLS signals. This technique can replace absorbance-based plasmonic or colored signals as immunoassay signal output for enhanced competitive detection of mycotoxins.

Abstract
Because avidin and biotin molecules exhibit the most specific and strongest non-covalent interaction, avidin-biotin technology is widely used in ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) kits for the detection of different bio-macromolecules linked to different diseases including cancer and influenza. Combining the outstanding electrical conductivity (200,000 cm2V-1s-1) of graphene with the unique avidin and biotin interaction, we demonstrate a novel graphene field-effect transistor (GFET) biosensor for the quantitative detection of bio-macromolecules. The GFET consists of six pairs of interdigital Cr/Au electrodes supported on Si/SiO2 substrate with an avidin immobilized single layer graphene channel as the sensing platform. By monitoring the real time current change upon the addition of biotin solution in bovine serum albumin (BSA) in the silicone pool preformed onto the GFET, the lowest detectable biotin concentration is estimated to be 90 fg/ml (0.37 pM). The specificity of the GFET is confirmed both by controlled and real sample measurements. From the magnitude of current change upon the addition of different concentrations of biotin solutions, the dissociation constant Kd is estimated to be 1.6 × 10-11 M. Since biotin is capable of conjugating with proteins, nucleotides and other bio-macromolecules without altering their properties, the present GFET sensor with its ultra-high sensitivity (0.37 pM) and specificity can be tailored to the rapid point-of-care detection of different types of desired biomolecules at very low concentration level through biotinylation as well as the exogenous biotin in blood serum. Combining the outstanding electrical conductivity of graphene with the unique interaction between avidin and biotin, a novel graphene field-effect transistor (GFET) biosensor for quantitative detection of bio-macromolecules is demonstrated. The present biosensor is capable of detecting the biotin with the sensitivity of 90 fg/ml (~0.37 pM) and high specificity. Since the biotin is capable of conjugating with protein, nucleotide and other bio-macromolecules without affecting their properties, the present GFET sensor can be tailored to various medical applications.

Abstract
An innovative colorimetric method based on enzyme-induced gold nanoparticle aggregation was developed to detect the activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and it was further applied to construct an aptasensor to monitor ochratoxin A (OTA) concentrations. In the presence of ALP, the substrate ascorbic acid 2-phosphate was hydrolyzed to generate ascorbic acid (AA). Subsequently, reduction of MnO2 nanosheets by AA produced manganese ions, which mediated gold nanoparticle aggregation. The color of the detection solution changed from brown-red to purple to blue as the ALP concentration increased, and a detection limit of 0.05 U·L-1 was achieved. Furthermore, this strategy was successfully utilized to devise a target-responsive aptasensor for colorimetric detection of an important mycotoxin, OTA, which causes food poisoning and has various toxic effects on humans. The proposed method offers high sensitivity with a detection limit as low as 5.0 nM together with high specificity. When applied to analyze red wine and grape juice samples, no complex sample pretreatment or bulky instruments were required. Overall, a colorimetric platform based on enzyme-induced gold nanoparticle aggregation was successfully established to improve the simplicity and sensitivity of ALP and OTA detection. This platform appears highly promising for mycotoxin-related food safety monitoring.

Abstract
A novel cationic iridium(III) complex phosphorescent probe (Ir-BE) containing aromatic boronate ester moiety as recognition unit was designed and synthesized. The probe exhibits ratiometric emission variations (I490/I550) with the color change from yellow to green only toward H2O2 with a broad pH range of 4 - 13. Different from other aromatic boronate-based probes, Ir-BE possesses larger Stokes shift (320 nm) and exhibits good linear correlation (R2 = 0.998) between the emission ratio (I490/I550) and the H2O2 concentration in a range of 0 - 300 μM. The detection limit was as low as 0.21 μM. Furthermore, the real water sample studied further proved Ir-BE has excellent selectivity for the quantitative detection of H2O2.

Abstract
The difference in gold nanoparticle (AuNPs) aggregation caused by different mixing orders of AuNPs, 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid (4-MPBA), and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) has been scarcely reported. We have found that the color change of a ((4-MPBA + AuNPs) + H2O2) mixture caused by H2O2 is more sensitive than that of a ((4-MPBA + H2O2) + AuNPs) mixture. For the former mixture, the color changes obviously with H2O2 concentrations in the range of 0~0.025%. However, for the latter mixture, the corresponding H2O2 concentration is in the range of 0~1.93%. The mechanisms on the color change originating from the aggregation of AuNPs occurring in the two mixtures were investigated in detail. For the ((4-MPBA + H2O2) + AuNPs) mixture, free 4-MPBA is oxidized by H2O2 to form bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) disulfide (BHPD) and peroxoboric acid. However, for the ((4-MPBA+AuNPs) + H2O2) mixture, immobilized 4-MPBA is oxidized by H2O2 to form 4-hydroxythiophenol (4-HTP) and boric acid. The decrease in charge on the surface of AuNPs caused by BHPD, which has alarger steric hindrance, is poorer than that caused by -4-HTP, and this is mainly responsible for the difference in the aggregation of AuNPs in the two mixtures. The formation of boric acid and peroxoboric acid in the reaction between 4-MPBA and H2O2 can alter the pH of the medium, and the effect of the pH change on the aggregation of AuNPs should not be ignored. These findings not only offer a new strategy in colorimetric assays to expand the detection range of hydrogen peroxide concentrations but also assist in deepening the understanding of the aggregation of citrate-capped AuNPs involved in 4-MPBA and H2O2, as well as in developing other probes.

Abstract
A colorimetric assay for human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA was developed based on the retardation of the avidin-induced aggregation of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) by HPV DNA. Positively charged avidin acts as a coagulant for AuNP aggregation. In the presence of the target DNA, however, the aggregation of AuNPs is retarded owing to electrosteric stabilization as a result of the hybridization of the target and probe DNA. In the absence of HPV DNA, the stabilization effect caused by the biotinylated probe DNA is weak, resulting in NP aggregation and a color change from red to purple. Aggregation may be easily observed with bare eyes or spectrophotometrically at about 560 nm. The visual detection limit is 1 nM. The assay was used for the determination of HPV DNA after polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification without any further purification. Graphical abstract Schematic presentation of the avidin-induced aggregation of unmodified gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) which leads to a color change from red to purple. In the presence of dsDNA, however, the aggregation is remarkably retarded.

Abstract
We intended to develop a novel biosensor using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for indicating different concentrations of E. coli O157:H7 and smart phone imaging APP for monitoring color change of the AuNPs. The magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) modified with the capture antibodies and the polystyrene microspheres (PSs) modified with the detection antibodies and the catalases were simultaneously used to react with the target bacteria in the first mixing channel of the microfluidic chip, and hydrogen peroxide was injected and catalyzed by the catalases on the MNP-bacteria-PS complexes. After the mixture of the AuNPs and the crosslinking agents were injected to react with the catalysate in the second mixing channel and incubated in the detection chamber, the aggregation of the AuNPs was triggered through the crosslinking agents, resulting in the color of the AuNPs changing from blue to red. Finally, the color was measured using the smart phone imaging APP to determine the amount of the bacteria. This biosensor exhibited a good specificity and sensitivity for detection of E. coli O157:H7 in chicken samples with a lower detection limit of 50 CFU/mL.

Abstract
An approach of high sensitivity and selectivity for hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detection is highly demanded due to its important roles in regulating diverse biological process. In this work, we introduced an easily synthesized fluorescent "turn off" probe, BNBD. It is designed based on the core structure of 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazan as a fluorophore and incorporated with a specific H2O2-reactive group, aryl boronate, for sensitive and selective detection of H2O2. We demonstrated its selectivity by incubating the probe with other types of ROS, and measured the limit of detection of BNBD as 1.8 nM. BNBD is also conducive to H2O2 detection at physiological conditions. We thus applied it to detect both exogenous and endogenous changes of H2O2 in living cells by confocal microscopy, supporting its future applications to selectively monitor H2O2 levels and identify H2O2-related physiological or pathological responses from live cells or tissues in the near future.

A novel fluorimetric sensing strategy for highly sensitive detection of phytic acid and hydrogen peroxide. Anal Chim Acta 2018; 1039:74-81. Abstract
In this paper, we developed a sensitive sensor for phytic acid (PA) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detection based on glutathione-functionalized graphene quantum dots (GQDs@GSH). The fluorescence of GQDs@GSH was found to be effectively quenched by Fe3+ ions via photo-induced electron transfer (PET) process. Upon the addition of PA to GQDs@GSH/Fe3+ system, the fluorescence of GQDs@GSH was significantly restored due to the strong chelating and reducing ability of PA, Fe3+ ions could be reduced to Fe2+ ions by PA and formed PA/Fe2+ complex. Therefore, the "off-on" fluorescence method was constructed to detect PA by using GQDs@GSH/Fe3+ as a fluorescent probe. Furthermore, the method can be used for the detection of H2O2. H2O2 can destroy the chelate structure of PA/Fe2+, release Fe2+ ions and oxidize Fe2+ ions to produce Fe3+ ions, leading to the fluorescence quenching of GQDs@GSH again. Under optimal conditions, the fluorescence sensing platform showed good linear relationship between the relative fluorescence intensity I/I0 and the concentration of PA and H2O2 in the range of 0.05-3 μmol L-1 and 0.5-10 μmol L-1, respectively. The detection limits of PA and H2O2 were 14 nmol L-1 and 0.134 μmol L-1, respectively. Furthermore, the fluorescence assay method was also applied in real sample analysis and satisfactory results were obtained.

Abstract
This paper reported a new method to observe the catalytic progress of the natural horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in-situ on single gold nanoparticles (GNPs) by the combination of dark field imaging and plasmonic resonance scattering spectra. The produced single HRP-GNP exhibited localized catalytic property toward H2O2-Diaminobenzidine (DAB), which could be used to detect the concentration of H2O2 in micro/nanospace. The linear range for H2O2 sensing was from 0.01 μM to 5 μM with a detection limit of 10 nM. The new design strategy could be applied for a broader bioanalysis situation by substituting the HRP with other specified biocatalyst.

Aggregation of cysteamine-capped gold nanoparticles in presence of ATP as an analytical tool for rapid detection of creatine kinase (CK-MM). Anal Chim Acta 2018; 1024:161-168. Abstract
Creatine kinase, a key biomarker associated with many debilitating physiological conditions has seldom been detected in biological fluids using functionalized gold nanoparticles (GNPs). We have developed a method based on the aggregation of cysteamine (Cys) functionalized GNPs in presence of ATP for effective detection of creatine kinase (CK-MM). Positively charged Cys-GNPs (brick red color) aggregate in presence of negatively charged ATP (blue color) but the process is prevented when CK-MM is added to the solution. The analytical response to the concentration of CK-MM is linear (R2 = 0.9850). The proposed method is selective in sensing the CK-MM for a range of 5.617 × 103 ng/ml, 0.5617 ng/ml. The limit of detection was found to be 0.569 ng/ml in solution and 0.553 ng/ml in human serum with high selectivity.

Abstract
On the basis of H2O2-mediated growth of gold nanoparticle (AuNPs), a novel plasmonic enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (pELISA) was developed with a polyclonal antibody for the ultrasensitive simultaneous naked-eye detection of tetrabromobisphenol A bis(2-hydroxyetyl) ether (TBBPA DHEE) and tetrabromobisphenol A mono(hydroxyethyl) ether (TBBPA MHEE), one of the major derivatives and byproducts of tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), respectively. In this modified indirect competitive pELISA, glucose oxidase (GOx) played an important role leading to the growth of AuNPs through a reaction between GOx and glucose to produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). In addition, further signal amplification was achieved via a large number of GOx molecules, which were immobilized on silica nanoparticles carrying poly brushes (SiO2@PAA) to increase the enzyme load, and the whole complex was conjugated on the second antibody. Under the optimized conditions, 10-3 μg/L TBBPA DHEE can be distinguished via the observation of a colored solution, and the limit of detection (LOD) of the method using a microplate reader reaches 3.3 × 10-4 μg/L. In contrast, the sensitivity of the method was 3 orders of magnitude higher than that using conventional colorimetric ELISA with the same antibody. Furthermore, the proposed approach showed good repeatability and reliability after a recovery test fortified with a variety of targets was performed (recoveries, 78.00-102.79%; coefficient of variation (CV), 4.38-9.87%). To our knowledge, this is the first case in which pELISA was applied for the detection of small molecules via the production of H2O2 from GOx and glucose. The method will be widely used for the investigation of TBBPA DHEE and TBBPA MHEE in real environments.

Abstract
In the present study, we found that phenylboronic acid derivatives including benzene-1,4-diboronic acid (BDBA) and mercaptophenyl boronic acid (MPBA) can induce the aggregation of citrate-capped gold nanoparticles (Au NPs). However, the speed of Au NP aggregation induced by MPBA was much faster than that of BDBA. The reaction between MPBA and Hg2+ ions resulted in the formation of MPBA-Hg2+-MPBA, which was similar to BDBA having two free boronic acid groups. Based on the above phenomenon, a sensitive and selective colorimetric method for the detection of mercury ions (Hg2+) in aqueous solution was developed. The linear range for the detection of Hg2+ ions was from 0.08 to 1.25 μmol dm-3 with a detection limit of 37 nmol dm-3. The strategy offered excellent selectivity toward Hg2+ against other metal ions. Meanwhile, this simple and cost-effective sensor was applied to determine the Hg2+ in the lake water samples with satisfactory recoveries (91.3 - 100.7%).

Abstract
Construction of a new multifunctional chemo/biosensing platform for small biomolecules and tumor markers is of great importance in analytical chemistry. Herein, a novel universal multifunctional nanoplatform for biomolecules and enzyme activity detection was proposed based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and target-inducing enlarged gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The reductive molecule such as H2O2 can act as the reductant to reduce HAuCl4, which will make the Au seeds grow. The enlarged AuNPs can effectively quench the fluorescence of UCNPs owing to the good spectral overlap between the absorption band of the AuNPs and the emission band of the UCNPs. Utilizing the FRET between the UCNPs and enlarged AuNPs, good linear relationship between the fluorescence of UCNPs and the concentration of H2O2 can be found. Based on this strategy, H2O2 related molecules such as l-lactate, glucose, and uric acid can also be quantified. On the basis of UCNPs and PVP/HAuCl4, a general strategy for other reductants such as ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), or enzyme activity can be established. Therefore, the universal multifunctional nanoplatform based on UCNPs and the target-inducing in situ enlarged Au NPs will show its potential as a simple method for the detection of some life related reductive molecules, enzyme substrates, as well as enzyme activity.
