Abstract
Vitamin D3 (VD3) is the main form of vitamin D and an essential nutrient for maintaining human life. Currently, traditional methods for detecting 25-hydroxyvitamin D3(25(OH)D3) are complex and expensive. In this study, we constructed an accurate, sensitive, simple, and cost-effective label-free biosensor based on an aptamer for the detection of 25(OH)D3. The aptamer-modified sulfhydryl adopted self-assembly as a way to stably immobilize at the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface modified by gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Upon 25(OH)D3 binding to the aptamer, the complexes inhibit electron transfer at the electrode surface, leading to reduced [Fe(CN)6]3-/4- redox peak current. Consequently, the quantity of 25(OH)D3 that interacts with the electrode-bound aptamer correlates with the observed electric current response values. The Aptamer/AuNPs/GCE aptasensor achieved direct and highly sensitive detection of 25(OH)D3 over a wide concentration range (1.0-1000 nM), with a limit of detection of 1.0 nM. At the same time, other molecules with a similar structure, such as 25(OH)D2, Vitamin D3, and Vitamin D2, had lower response interference than 25(OH)D3. Therefore, this biosensor has great potential to become a portable diagnostic device for 25(OH)D3.

Abstract
The high-performance determination of heavy metal ions (Cd2+) in water sources is significant for the protection of public health and safety. We have developed a novel sensor of nanograss boron and nitrogen co-doped diamond (NGBND) to detect Cd2+ using a simple method without any masks or reactive ion etching. The NGBND electrode is constructed based on the co-doped diamond growth mode and the removal of the non-diamond carbon (NDC) from the NGBND/NDC composite. Both the enlarged surface area and enhanced electrochemical performance of the NGBND film are achievable. Scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) were used to characterize the NGBND electrodes. Furthermore, we used a finite element numerical method to research the current density near the tip of NGBND. The NGBND sensor exhibits significant advantages for detecting trace Cd2+ via DPASV. A broad linear range of 1 to 100 μg L-1 with a low detection limit of 0.28 μg L-1 was achieved. The successful application of this Cd2+ sensor indicates considerable promise for the sensitive detection of heavy metal ions.

Abstract
Antibiotic-containing wastewater is a typical biochemical refractory organic wastewater and general treatment methods cannot effectively and quickly degrade the antibiotic molecules. In this study, a novel boron-doped diamond (BDD) pulse electrochemical oxidation (PEO) technology was proposed for the efficient removal of levofloxacin (LFXN) from wastewater. The effects of current density (j), initial pH (pH0), frequency (f), electrolyte types and initial concentration (c0(LFXN)) on the degradation of LFXN were systematically investigated. The degradation kinetics under four different processes have also been studied. The possible degradation mechanism of LFXN was proposed by Density functional theory calculation and analysis of degradation intermediates. The results showed that under the optimal parameters, the COD removal efficiency (η(COD)) was 94.4% and the energy consumption (EEC) was 81.43 kWh·m-3 at t = 120 min. The degradation of LFXN at pH = 2.8/c(H2O2) followed pseudo-first-order kinetics. The apparent rate constant was 1.33 × 10-2 min-1, which was much higher than other processes. The degradation rate of LFXN was as follows: pH = 2.8/c(H2O2) > pH = 2.8 > pH = 7/c(H2O2) > pH = 7. Ten aromatic intermediates were formed during the degradation of LFXN, which were further degraded to F-, NH4+, NO3-, CO2 and H2O. This study provides a promising approach for efficiently treating LFXN antibiotic wastewater by pulsed electrochemical oxidation with a BDD electrode without adding H2O2.

Abstract
Favipiravir, a promising antiviral agent, is undergoing clinical trials for the potential treatment of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This is the first report for the electrochemical activity of favipiravir and its electroanalytical sensing. For this purpose, the effect of cationic surfactant, CTAB was demonstrated on the enhanced accumulation of favipiravir at the surface of cathodically pretreated boron-doped diamond (CPT-BDD) electrode. At first, the electrochemical properties of favipiravir were investigated in the surfactant-free solutions by the means of cyclic voltammetry. The compound presented a single oxidation step which is irreversible and adsorption controlled. A systematic study of various operational conditions, such as electrode pretreatment, pH of the supporting electrolyte, concentration of CTAB, accumulation variables, and instrumental parameters on the adsorptive stripping response, was examined using square-wave voltammetry. An oxidation signal at around +1.21 V in Britton-Robinson buffer at pH 8.0 containing 6 × 10-4 M CTAB allowed to the adsorptive stripping voltammetric determination of favipiravir (after 60 s accumulation step at open-circuit condition). The process could be used in the concentration range with two linear segments of 0.01-0.1 μg mL-1 (6.4 × 10-8-6.4 × 10-7 M) and 0.1-20.0 μg mL-1 (6.4 × 10-7-1.3 × 10-4 M). The limit of detection values were found to be 0.0028 μg mL-1 (1.8 × 10-8 M), and 0.023 μg mL-1 (1.5 × 10-7 M) for the first and second segments of calibration graph, respectively. The feasibility of developed methodology was tested to the analysis of the commercial tablet formulations and model human urine samples.

Abstract
Viruses are the main pathogenic substances that cause severe diseases in humans and other living things. They are among the most common microorganisms, and consequently, antiviral drugs have emerged to prevent and treat viral infections. Antiviral drugs are an essential drug group considering their prescription and consumption rates for different diseases and indications. Therefore, it is crucial to develop accurate and precise analytical methods to detect antiviral drugs in various matrices. Chromatographic techniques are used frequently for the quantification purpose since they allow simultaneous determination of antivirals. Electrochemical methods have also gained importance since the analysis can be performed quickly without the need for pretreatment. Spectrophotometric and spectrofluorimetric methods are used because they are simple, inexpensive, and less time-consuming methods. The purpose of this review is to present an overview of the analysis of currently used antiviral drugs from 2010 to 2021. Since studies on antiviral drugs are numerous, selected publications were reviewed in this article. The analysis of antiviral drugs was divided into three main groups: chromatographic, spectrometric, and electrochemical methods which were applied to different matrices, including pharmaceutical, biological, and environmental samples.

Abstract
A boron-doped diamond (BDD) has been widely used as an outstanding electrode for constructing high-performance electrochemical biosensors. In this paper, we fabricated a novel electrode combined of nanometer-sized graphite-BDD film (NG-BDD) by chemical vapor deposition. The nanometer-sized graphite (NG) is formed on the (111) facet of BDD via converting an sp3 diamond structure to an sp2 graphitic phase at high temperature in boron-rich ambient. The electrode was characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. This NG-BDD was performed as an electrode of electrochemical biosensor to detect trace acetaminophen (APAP) accurately. Cyclic voltammetry and differential normal pulse voltammetry are used to investigate the overall performance of the electrochemical device. The sensor has a linear electrochemical response to APAP in the concentration range of 0.02-50 μM, and the detection limit is estimated to be as low as 5 nM. The research has resulted in a solution of constructing a reusable NG-BDD sensor to detect APAP with stability and show potential in extensive application.

Abstract
Layered double hydroxide (LDH) materials have shown charming photo-Fenton capability for the treatment of refractory organic wastewater. In this study, CuFe-LDH hybridized with N-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) was investigated to further enhance the photo-Fenton capability. The results showed that the assembly techniques of coprecipitation and the hydrothermal method could synthesize the target material, CuFe-LDH/N-CQDs, successfully. CuFe-LDH/N-CQDs could possess a 13.5% higher methylene blue (MB) removal rate than CuFe-LDH in 30 min due to the accelerated redox cycles of Fe(III)/Fe(II) and Cu(III)/Cu(II), resulting from the photo-induced electron transfer from N-CQDs to CuFe-LDH via a d–π conjugation electronic bridge. Moreover, CuFe-LDH/N-CQDs has excellent photo-Fenton capability in the pH range of 2–11, even after being reused five times. This study would provide an efficient and stable photo-Fenton catalyst for the treatment of refractory organic wastewater.

Abstract
Boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes present several notable properties, such as the largest potential window of all electrode materials (especially in anodic potentials), low background and capacitive currents, reduced fouling compared to other electrodes, mechanical robustness, and good stability over time. On the other hand, flow-based systems are known as well-established approaches to minimize reagent consumption and waste generation and with good compromise between sample throughput and analytical performance (mechanization of chemical assays). This review focuses on the use of BDD electrodes for electrochemical detection in flow systems, such as flow injection analysis (FIA), batch injection analysis (BIA), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and capillary electrophoresis (CE). The discussion deals with the historical evolution of BDD, types of electrochemical pre-treatments (cathodically/H-terminated or anodically/O-terminated), cell configurations, and analytical performance. Articles are discussed in chronological order and subdivided according to the type of flow system: FIA, BIA, HPLC, and CE.

Hybridization of Nanodiamond and CuFe-LDH as Heterogeneous Photoactivator for Visible-Light Driven Photo-Fenton Reaction: Photocatalytic Activity and Mechanism. Catalysts 2019. Abstract
Establishing a heterojunction for two kinds of semiconductor catalysts is a promising way to enhance photocatalytic activity. In this study, nanodiamond (ND) and CuFe-layered double hydroxide (LDH) were hybridized by a simple coprecipitation method as a novel heterojunction to photoactivate H2O2. The ND/LDH possessed a hydrotalcite-like structure, large specific surface area (SBET = 99.16 m2/g), strong absorption of visible-light and low band gap (Eg = 0.94 eV). Under the conditions of ND/LDH dosage 0.0667 g/L, H2O2 concentration 19.6 mmol/L, and without initial pH adjustment, 93.5% of 10 mg/L methylene blue (MB) was degraded within 120 minutes, while only 78.3% of MB was degraded in the presence of LDH instead of ND/LDH. The ND/LDH exhibited excellent stability and maintained relatively high activity, sufficient to photoactivate H2O2 even after five recycles. The mechanism study revealed that in the heterojunction of ND/LDH, the photoelectrons transferred from the valence band of LDH (Cu/Fe 3d t2g) to the conduction band of LDH (Cu/Fe 3d eg) could spontaneously migrate onto the conduction band of ND, promoting the separation of photo-induced charges. Thus, the photoelectrons had sufficient time to accelerate the redox cycles of Cu3+/Cu2+ and Fe3+/Fe2+ to photoactivate H2O2 to produce hydroxyl radicals, resulting in excellent photo-Fenton efficiency on MB degradation.

Abstract
In the present paper, an electroanalytical methodology was developed for the determination of an important catechol-containing flavonoid derivative, quercetin using adsorptive stripping voltammetry at a cathodically pretreated boron-doped diamond electrode. In cyclic voltammetry, the compound showed a couple of oxidation/reduction peak at low positive potentials, and additional two oxidation peaks at more positive potentials. The sensitivity of the stripping voltammetric measurements was significantly improved when the cationic surfactant, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) was present in the electrolyte solution. Using square-wave stripping mode, a highly linear analytical curve was obtained for quercetin determination in 0.1 M acetate buffer solution (pH 4.7) containing 3 × 10-4 M CTAB at + 0.37 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) (after 30 s accumulation at open-circuit condition) in the range of 0.5-200 ng mL-1 (1.7 × 10-9-3.3 × 10-7 M), with a detection limit of 0.132 ng mL-1 (4.4 × 10-10 M). As an example, the practical applicability of proposed method was successfully tested with the measurement of quercetin concentration in commercial apple juice samples.

Abstract
Boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes are recognized as being superior to other electrode materials due to their outstanding chemical and dimensional stability, their exceptionally low background current, the extremely wide potential window for water electrolysis that they have, and their excellent biocompatibility. However, whereas these properties have been utilized in the rapid development of electroanalytical applications, very few studies have been done in relation to their applications in electrocatalysis or electrosynthesis. In this report, following on from reports of the electrosynthesis of various products through anodic and cathodic reactions using BDD electrodes, the potential use of these electrodes in electrosynthesis is discussed.

Abstract
Simple, rapid, sensitive, and specific detection of cancer cells plays a pivotal role in the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer. A sandwich electrochemical biosensor was developed based on polyadenine (polydA)-aptamer modified gold electrode (GE) and polydA-aptamer functionalized gold nanoparticles/graphene oxide (AuNPs/GO) hybrid for the label-free and selective detection of breast cancer cells (MCF-7) via a differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) technique. Due to the intrinsic affinity between multiple consecutive adenines of polydA sequences and gold, polydA modified aptamer instead of thiol terminated aptamer was immobilized on the surface of GE and AuNPs/GO. The label-free MCF-7 cells could be recognized by polydA-aptamer and self-assembled onto the surface of GE. The polydA-aptamer functionalized AuNPs/GO hybrid could further bind to MCF-7 cells to form a sandwich sensing system. Characterization of the surface modified GE was carried out by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) using Fe(CN)63-/4- as a redox probe. Under the optimized experimental conditions, a detection limit of 8 cellsmL-1 (3σ/slope) was obtained for MCF-7 cells by the present electrochemical biosensor, along with a linear range of 10-105 cellsmL-1. By virtue of excellent sensitivity, specificity and repeatability, the present electrochemical biosensor provides a potential application in point-of-care cancer diagnosis.
