Abstract
Fluorescence analysis has been regarded as one of the commonly used analytical methods because of its advantages of simple operation, fast response, low cost and high sensitivity. So far, various fluorescent probes, with noble metal nanoclusters, quantum dots, organic dyes and metal organic frameworks as representatives, have been widely reported. However, single fluorescent probe often suffers from some deficiencies, such as low quantum yield, poor chemical stability, low water solubility and toxicity. To overcome these disadvantages, the introduction of cyclodextrins into fluorescent probes has become a fascinating approach. This review (with 218 references) systematically covers the research progress of fluorescent composites based on cyclodextrins in recent years. Preparation strategies, fluorescence properties, response mechanisms and applications in sensing (ions, organic pollutants, bio-related molecules, temperature, pH) and bioimaging of fluorescent composites based on cyclodextrins are summarized in detail. Finally, the current challenges and future perspectives of these composites in relative research fields are discussed.

Abstract
Excess use of tetracyclines poses significant health risks arising from animal-derived foods, meaning simple and sensitive methods to detect tetracyclines would be beneficial given current laboratory methods are complex and expensive. Herein, we describe an asynchronous response fluorescence sensor constructed based on Zn-based metal-organic framework and Ru(bpy)32+ (denoted as Ru@Zn-BTEC) for the qualitative and quantitative detection of tetracyclines in foods. Under excitation at 365 nm, the sensor emitted red fluorescence at 609 nm. When tetracyclines were present, these molecules aggregated in the Ru@Zn-BTEC framework, causing green fluorescence emission at 528 nm. The developed sensing system accurately distinguished the different categories of tetracyclines with a classifier accuracy of 94 %. The Ru@Zn-BTEC sensor demonstrated a detection limit of 0.012 μM and satisfactory recovery (87.81 %-113.84 %) for tetracyclines in food samples. This work provides a pathway for constructing asynchronous response fluorescence sensors for food analysis.

Three in one: coordination-induced emission for inherent fluorescent Al-MOF synthesis combined with inner filter effect@aggregation-induced emission mechanisms for designing color tonality and ratiometric sensing platforms. Abstract
Three phenomena, namely coordination-induced emission (CIE), aggregation-induced emission (AIE), and inner filter effect (IFE), were incorporated into the design of a ratiometric and color tonality-based biosensor. Blue fluorescent Al-based metal-organic frameworks (FMIL-96) were prepared from non-emissive ligand and aluminum ions via CIE. Interestingly, the addition of tetracycline (TC) led to ratiometric detection and color tonality, as the blue emission at 380 nm was quenched (when excited at 350 nm) due to IFE, while the green-yellowish emission at 525 nm was enhanced due to AIE. Based on that, an ultra-sensitive visual-based color tonality mode with smartphone assistance was developed for detection of TC. The sensor exhibited a linear relationship within a broad range of 2.0 to 85.0 μM TC with a detection limit of 68.0 nM. TC in milk samples was quantified with high accuracy and precision. This integration of smartphone and visual fluorescence in solution is accurate, reliable, cost-effective, and time-saving, providing an alternative strategy for the semi-quantitative determination of TC on-site.

Abstract
Given the threat to human health posed by the abuse of tetracycline (TC), the development of a portable, on-site methods for highly sensitive and rapid TC detection is crucial. In this work, we initially synthesized europium-doped silicon nanoparticles (SiEuNPs) through a facile one-pot microwave-assisted method. Due to its blue-red dual fluorescence emission (465 nm/627 nm), which was respectively attributed to the silicon nanoparticles and Eu3+, SiEuNPs were designed as a ratiometric fluorescent sensor for TC detection. For the dual-signal reverse response mechanism: TC quenched the blue emission from silicon nanoparticles through inner filter effect (IFE), and enhanced the red emission through "antenna effect" (AE) between TC and Eu3+, the nanoprobe was able to detect TC within a range of 0.2-10 μM with a limit of detection (LOD) of 10.7 nM. Notably, the equilibrium detection time was only 1 min, achieving rapid TC detection. Furthermore, TC was also measured in real samples (tap water, milk and honey) with recoveries ranging from 95.7 % to 117.0 %. More importantly, a portable smartphone-assisted on-site detection platform was developed, enabling real-time qualitative identification and semi-quantitative analysis of TC based on fluorescence color changes. This work not only provided a novel doped silicon nanoparticles strategy, but also constructed a ratiometric sensing platform with dual-signal reverse response for intuitive and real-time TC detection.

Abstract
The development of high-performance sensors for doxycycline (DOX) detection is necessary because its residue accumulation will cause serious harm to human health and the environment. Here, a novel tri-emission ratiometric fluorescence sensor was proposed by using "post-mixing" strategy of different emissions fluorescence molecularly imprinted polymers with salicylamide as dummy template (DMIPs). BSA was chosen as assistant functional monomer, and also acted as sensitizers for the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect of DOX. The blue-emitting carbon dots and the red-emitting CdTe quantum dots were separately introduced into DMIPs as the response signals. Upon DOX recognition within 2 min, blue and red fluorescence of the tri-emission DMIPs sensor were quenched while green fluorescence of DOX was enhanced, resulting in a wide range of color variations observed over bluish violet-rosered-light pink-orange-yellow-green with a detection limit of 0.061 μM. The sensor possessed highly selective recognition and was successfully applied to detect DOX in complicated real samples. Moreover, with the fluorescent color collection and data processing, the smartphone-assisted visual detection of the sensors showed satisfied sensitivity with low detection limit. This work provides great potential applications for rapid and visual detection of antibiotics in complex substrates.

Abstract
Hierarchical self-assembly from simple building blocks to complex polymers is a feasible approach to constructing multi-functional smart materials. However, the polymerization process of polymers often involves challenges such as the design of building blocks and the drive of external energy. Here, a hierarchical self-assembly with self-driven and energy conversion capabilities based on p-aminophenol and diethylenetriamine building blocks is reported. Through β-galactosidase (β-Gal) specific activation to the self-assembly, the intelligent assemblies (oligomer and superpolymer) with excellent photothermal and fluorescent properties are dynamically formed in situ, and thus the sensitive multi-mode detection of β-Gal activity is realized. Based on the overexpression of β-Gal in ovarian cancer cells, the self-assembly superpolymer is specifically generated in SKOV-3 cells to achieve fluorescence imaging. The photothermal therapeutic ability of the self-assembly oligomer (synthesized in vitro) is evaluated by a subcutaneous ovarian cancer model, showing satisfactory anti-tumor effects. This work expands the construction of intelligent assemblies through the self-driven cascade assembly of small molecules and provides new methods for the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer.

Abstract
We explored a novel preparation method for MOF-on-MOF heterostructured material (Zn-BTEC@ZIF-8). This prepared heterostructured material acts as a container, capable of adsorbing tetracycline hydrochloride molecules into its backbone through hydrogen bonding and π-π interactions. This phenomenon triggers an aggregation induced emission (AIE) effect, leading to the formation of luminescent bodies. The coordination between histamine and MOF was found to collapse the originally stabilized MOF-on-MOF structure. This collapse causes the splitting of the initially stabilized MOF-on-MOF structure from the aggregated state into fragments, resulting in the quenching of fluorescence in the fluorophore. Remarkably, the fluorescence quenching efficiency of this composite surpasses that of single-layer metal-organic framework (MOF) zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) or zinc-based MOF of pyromellitic acid (Zn-BTEC), enabling more sensitive detection of histamine. In this investigation, we constructed a label-free fluorescent sensor specifically designed for the detection of histamine, capitalizing on the AIE effect inherent in MOF-on-MOF architecture and the presence of tetracycline hydrochloride (Tet). The sensor demonstrates a rapid, straightforward, and stable response, allowing for histamine detection within 20 min. Notably, the sensor covers a detection range of 2-400 mg L-1, achieving a low detection limit of 1.458 mg L-1 The practical application of this sensor for quantitative detection of histamine in river water and various fish species exhibited robust performance, ensuring reliability and accuracy in real samples. Its potential application in food safety and environmental monitoring is evident, making it a valuable tool for addressing histamine-related challenges in these domains.

Abstract
A reduced graphene oxide/molybdenum selenosulfide (rGO/MoSSe) heterojunction was synthesized, and a molecularly imprinted photoelectrochemical sensor for the detection of chlortetracycline was prepared. MoSSe was grown in situ on rGO by a hydrothermal method to form an rGO/MoSSe heterojunction, which acts as the sensitive film of the sensor. Since rGO can promote electron transfer and effectively inhibit electron-hole recombination, it effectively reduces the recombination probability of electrons and holes and improves the photoelectric efficiency, thus enhancing the detection sensitivity of the PEC sensor. The rGO/MoSSe was immobilized on an FTO electrode, and molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were prepared by electropolymerization on the rGO/MoSSe-modified FTO electrode with chlortetracycline as the template molecule and o-phenylenediamine as the functional monomer, so as to construct a molecularly imprinted photoelectrochemical (MIP-PEC) sensor. The determination of chlortetracycline was realized by the strategy of a "gate-controlled effect", and the detection range of the chlortetracycline concentration was 5.0 × 10-13-5 × 10-9 mol L-1 with a detection limit of 1.57 × 10-13 mol L-1. The sensor has been applied to the determination of chlortetracycline in animal-derived food samples.

Abstract
A fluorometric method based on boron, bromide-codoped carbon dots (BBCNs) was developed for the first time for the highly selective detection of p-nitroaniline (PNA) in wastewater samples. It should be noted that the introduction of bromine greatly increases the molecular polarizability of the probe, which can regulate the energy level matching between the probe and PNA, resulting in the interaction between BBCNs and PNA. In the presence of PNA, the fluorescence of BBCNs is obviously quenched and accompanied by a red shift of the fluorescence band, which might be attributed to the formation of aggregates caused by the polar adsorption of BBCNs and PNA. It is beneficial for constructing a highly selective sensing platform for PNA determination compared to its isomers (o-nitroaniline and m-nitroaniline) through atomic bromine-mediated polarization of the BBCNs. With the help of this mechanism, an excellent linear range of 0.5-300 μM with a low detection limit of 0.24 μM toward PNA was obtained. This work further confirms that there is a significant relationship between the nature of doping elements and the optical and physicochemical properties of fluorescent materials.

Abstract
Developing rapid monitoring methods to detect antibiotic residues in food plays an important role in safeguarding human health. This study presents the development of a novel fluorescence-enhanced detection method for chlortetracycline (CTC) using a GSH-Se nanozyme. A GSH-Se nanozyme prepared using a one-pot hydrothermal method not only possesses excellent fluorescent properties but also exhibits good glutathione peroxidase-like activity. The results show that the addition of CTC leads to a significant enhancement in the fluorescence intensity of GSH-Se, and this increase exhibits a good linear relationship with the concentration of CTC. The linear range of this method is 0.02-1 µM, and the limit of detection (LOD) for CTC was 0.02 µM. Moreover, the cell toxicity of GSH-Se is low and can be used for monitoring and imaging of CTC in cells, and satisfactory results have been obtained in the analysis of actual food samples.

Abstract
With the rapid development of fluorescent nanoparticles (FNPs), such as CDs, QDs, and MOFs, the construction of FNP-based probes has played a key role in improving chemical sensors. Ratiometric fluorescent probes exhibit distinct advantages, such as resistance to environmental interference and achieving visualization. Thus, FNP-based dual-emission ratiometric fluorescent probes (DRFPs) have rapidly developed in the field of metal ion and small molecule detection in the past few years. In this review, firstly we introduce the fluorescence sensing mechanisms; then, we focus on the strategies for the fabrication of DRFPs, including hybrid FNPs, single FNPs with intrinsic dual emission and target-induced new emission, and DRFPs based on auxiliary nanoparticles. In the section on hybrid FNPs, methods to assemble two types of FNPs, such as chemical bonding, electrostatic interaction, core satellite or core-shell structures, coordination, and encapsulation, are introduced. In the section on single FNPs with intrinsic dual emission, methods for the design of dual-emission CDs, QDs, and MOFs are discussed. Regarding target-induced new emission, sensitization, coordination, hydrogen bonding, and chemical reaction induced new emissions are discussed. Furthermore, in the section on DRFPs based on auxiliary nanoparticles, auxiliary nanomaterials with the inner filter effect and enzyme mimicking activity are discussed. Finally, the existing challenges and an outlook on the future of DRFP are presented. We sincerely hope that this review will contribute to the quick understanding and exploration of DRFPs by researchers.

Abstract
Fluorescent point-of-care (POC) sensors have found great utility in fields like clinical diagnosis, food testing, and environmental monitoring. Herein, we developed a highly stable POC sensor that enabled the visual detection of tetracycline (TC) in a distinct fluorescent-traffic-light manner. In the sensor, a composite material of copper nanoclusters and metal-organic framework (CuNCs@MOF-5) prepared with a facile one-pot synthetic strategy was employed as the core element for target recognition and signal transduction. As evidenced by experiments, the as-prepared CuNCs@MOF-5 exhibited significantly improved fluorescence properties in terms of emission enhancement (about 28-fold) and stability improvement (over 110 days) compared to the CuNCs without confining and protection by MOF-5. More importantly, it was found that TC could uniquely interact with Zn(II) to trigger the disassembly of CuNCs@MOF-5, resulting in green fluorescence emission from the TC-Zn(II) complex and red fluorescence weakening of CuNCs. On the basis of this finding, a simple and stable sensor was proposed for POC detection of TC, which demonstrated high sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility. In addition to homogeneous visual detection in a 96-well plate, a CuNCs@MOF-5-contained agarose gel array was easily fabricated to achieve direct detection of TC in milk without any pretreatment, thanks to the size-sieving effect of the gel. Moreover, a test paper array was also put forward for low-cost TC detection, which indicates the extensibility and practicability of this sensing strategy.

Abstract
Functionalized crystalline solids based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) enable efficient luminescence detection and high proton conductivity, making them crucial in the realms of environmental monitoring and clean energy. Here, two structurally and functionally distinct zinc-based MOFs, [Zn(TTDPa)(bodca)]·H2O (1) and [Zn(TTDPb)(bodca)]·H2O (2), were successfully designed and synthesized using 3,6-di(pyridin-4-yl)thieno[3,2-b]thiophene (TTDPa) and 2,5-di(pyridin-4-yl)thieno[3,2-b]thiophene (TTDPb) as ligands, in the presence of bicyclo[2.2.2]octane-1,4-dicarboxylic acid (H2bodca). Both 1 and 2 display a three-dimensional (3D) structure with 5-fold interpenetration, and notably, 2 forms a larger one-dimensional pore measuring 17.16 × 10.81 Å2 in size. Fluorescence experiments demonstrate that 1 and 2 can function as luminescent sensors for nitrofurantoin (NFT) and nitrofurazone (NFZ) with low detection limits, remarkable selectivity, and good recyclability. A comprehensive analysis was conducted to investigate the differing sensing effects of compounds 1 and 2 and to explore potential sensing mechanisms. Additionally, at 328 K and 98% relative humidity, 1 and 2 exhibit proton conductivity values of 2.13 × 10-3 and 4.91 × 10-3 S cm-1, respectively, making them suitable proton-conducting materials. Hence, the integration of luminescent sensing and proton conductivity in monophasic 3D Zn-MOFs holds significant potential for application in intelligent multitasking devices.

Abstract
Food safety is a global concern that deeply affects human health. To ensure the profitability of the food industry and consumer safety, there is an urgent need to develop rapid, sensitive, accurate, and cost-effective detection methods for food contaminants. Recently, the Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE) has been successfully used to detect food contaminants. AIEgens, fluorescent dyes that cause AIE, have several valuable properties including high quantum yields, photostability, and large Stokes shifts. This review provides a detailed introduction to the principles and advantages of AIE-triggered detection, followed by a focus on the past five years' applications of AIE in detecting various food contaminants including pesticides, veterinary drugs, mycotoxins, food additives, ions, pathogens, and biogenic amines. Each detection principle and component is comprehensively covered and explained. Moreover, the similarities and differences among different types of food contaminants are summarized, aiming to inspire future researchers. Finally, this review concludes with a discussion of the prospects for incorporating AIEgens more effectively into the detection of food contaminants.

Abstract
In view of the serious side effects of chlortetracycline (CTC) on the human body, it is particularly important to develop rapid, sensitive, and selective technologies for the detection of CTC in food. In this work, a molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor with [Fe(CN)6]3-/4- as signal probe was proposed for the highly sensitive and selective detection of CTC. For this purpose, TiO2, which acts as an interlayer scaffold, was uniformly grown on the surface of Ti3C2Tx sheets through a simple two-step calcination process using Ti3C2Tx as the precursor to effectively avoid the stacking of Ti3C2Tx layers due to hydrogen bonding and van der Waals forces. This endowed TiO2@Ti3C2Tx with large specific surface, abundant functional sites, and rapid mass transfer. Then, polypyrrole molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) with outstanding electrical conductivity were modified on the surface of TiO2@Ti3C2Tx via simple electro-polymerization, where the pyrrole was employed as a polymeric monomer and the CTC provided a source of template molecules. This will not only provide specific recognition sites for CTC, but also facilitate electron transport on the electrode surface. The synergistic effects between TiO2@Ti3C2Tx and polypyrrole MIPs afforded the TiO2@Ti3C2Tx/MIP-based electrochemical sensor excellent detection properties toward CTC, including ultra-low limits of detection (LOD) (0.027 nM), a wide linear range (0.06-1000 nM), and outstanding stability, reproducibility, selectivity, and feasibility in real samples. The results indicate that this strategy is feasible and will broaden the horizon for highly sensitive and selective detection of CTC.

Abstract
The residues of pesticides and antibiotics have always been a major concern in agriculture and food safety. In order to provide a new method for the rapid detection of organophosphorus pesticides and antibiotics, a novel Cd(II) chain-based zwitterionic metal-organic framework MOF 1 with high sensitivity fluorescence sensing performance was successfully synthesized. A series of researches showed that the water- and pH-stable bifunctional MOF 1 has a great ability to detect phosmet (PSM) and chlortetracycline (CTC) in water through fluorescence quenching effect, with high detection sensitivity, low detection limits (0.0124 μM and 0.0131 μM), short response time (40 s) and reusability. Practical application results revealed that MOF 1 could detect PSM and CTC in milk, beef, chicken and egg samples, with satisfactory recoveries (95.2%-103.7%). As a novel fluorescence probe, MOF 1, is known the first case that can detect PSM in animal-derived samples, and the first dual-function material capable of detecting PSM and CTC. Mechanism studies displayed that competitive absorption and photoinduced electron transfer clearly authenticate the high quenching performance of the material.

Abstract
The elaborate defect-engineering of luminescent metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) allows them with enhanced sensing performance. A modulator-induced defect formation strategy is adopted in this paper, and the impact of the open-metal sites on sensing process is rationalized. It is demonstrated that the defect level can be tuned to a remarkable extent by controlling the amount of modulator. When a particular defect concentration is reached, the UiO-66-xFA can be acted as highly sensitive ratiometric fluorescence probes for chlortetracycline (CTE) determination with an ultralow detection limit of 9.9 nm. Furthermore, by virtue of the obvious variation in fluorescence chromaticity of probes from blue to yellow, a sensory hydrogels-based smartphone platform is proposed for visible quantitation of CTE by identifying the RGB values. A delicate device integrated with UV lamp and dark cavity has been developed for avoiding inconsistencies of ambient light and visual errors. Finally, the sensor obtains satisfactory results in the detection of actual seafood samples, with no significant differences from those of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. This approach anticipates a novel route to sensitize optical sensors through the design and synthesis of moderate defects in luminescent MOFs.

Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) layered MoS2 has good dispersion and adsorption properties, but being a narrow bandgap semiconductor limits its application in photoelectric sensing. In this study, a homogeneous photoelectrochemical sensor based on three-dimensional (3D) ZnO/Au/2D MoS2 is proposed for the ultrasensitive detection of tetracycline (TET). MoS2 is uniformly embedded on the 3D ZnO/Au surface by ordered self-assembly. The physical method of π-π interaction of MoS2 replaces the conventional use of chemically modifying aptamers on the electrode material surface. Under optimal conditions, this method has been successfully applied to the detection of TET in milk, honey, pig kidney and pork samples with reliable results. We believe that this study presents a method for the preparation of sensing carriers and target detection with great potential for application.

Abstract
Dual-state emitters (DSEs) are entities that exhibit fluorescence in both the solution and solid state, which open up a wide range of possibilities for their utilization in various fields. The development of detection platforms using intrinsic luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) is highly desirable for a variety of applications. DSE MOFs as a subclass of intrinsic LMOFs are highly attractive due to no need for encapsulation/functionalization by fluorophores and/or using luminescent linkers. Herein, a highly stable intrinsic dual-state blue emission (λem = 425 nm) zinc-based MOF with rodlike nanostructures (denoted as UoZ-2) was synthesized and characterized. To the best of our knowledge, intrinsic DSE of Zn-MOFs with blue emission in the dispersed form in solution and solid-state fluorescence have not been reported yet. When tetracycline (TC) was added, a continuous color evolution from blue to greenish-yellow with dramatic enhancement was observed due to aggregation induced emission (AIE). Thus, a sensitive ratiometry-based visual detection platform, in solution and on paper independently, was designed for detection of TC exploiting the DSE and AIE properties of UoZ-2 alone and UoZ-2:TC. The detection limit was estimated to be 4.5 nM, which is considered to be one of the most sensitive ratiometric fluorescent probes for TC sensing. The ratiometry paper-based UoZ-2 sensor displays a reliable TC quantitative analysis by recognizing RGB values in the on-site TC detection with satisfactory recoveries.

Abstract
The classes and forms of antibiotics directly determine their ecotoxicity and environmental chemical behavior, and developing a sensor array for simultaneous and in situ detection of antibiotics is highly anticipated. In this study, different morphologies of g-C3N4 with different fluorescence properties and peroxidase activity were prepared by regulating the degree of interlayer stacking and planar connectivity. Subsequently, in order to enhance its enzyme activity and amplify the differences in response signals to different antibiotics, three morphologies of g-C3N4/MIL-101(Fe) were prepared by in situ growth of equivalent amounts of MIL-101(Fe) on g-C3N4, respectively. The sensor array constructed based on the cross-response signals between g-C3N4/MIL-101(Fe) and antibiotics not only realized the simultaneous detection of quinolones, furans, tetracyclines, and lincomamides but also could efficiently identify their seven different forms. In the range of 0.2-0.8 ppm, the minimum detection limit for antibiotics was 12 ppb. In addition, the recovery experiments of multicomponent-mixed antibiotics in environmental samples show that the recovery rate remained at 91.42-107.59%, confirming the reliability and practicality of the sensor array. This study not only revealed the influence of crystal morphology regulation on the optical properties and enzyme activities of nanozymes, but also provided support for tracing, ecological remediation, and in situ environmental chemical behavior research of antibiotics.

Abstract
Fluorescent probes with on-site visual detection function have received extensive attention in the detection of chlortetracycline (CTC), which was widely used in aquaculture and animal husbandry. Copper nanoclusters (Cu NCs) with excellent optical properties were prepared using bovine serum albumin (BSA) as a template, and a multicolor fluorescence strategy based on BSA-stabilized Cu NCs (BSA-Cu NCs) for detecting CTC was proposed. BSA-Cu NCs had a red emission at 640 nm. After the addition of CTC, the red emission of BSA-Cu NCs gradually decreased for internal filtering effect, while the green emission of CTC was significantly enhanced under the sensitization of BSA. This simple sensing process can be achieved in real time by directly mixing the target sample with BSA-Cu NCs, and the detection limit (LOD) of the system for CTC was 12.01 nM. Based on this sensing strategy, a fluorescence film sensing detection platform was constructed to achieve ultra-fast detection of CTC within 30 s. This work provided a fluorescent film sensor with the advantages of portability, ultra-fast and low cost, which provided a feasible alternative for on-site ultra-fast screening of CTC.

Abstract
2,4,6-trinitrophenyl phenol (TNP) and dichromate (Cr2O72-) have serious toxicological effects on environment. Therefore, it is very important to detect and remove TNP and Cr2O72- in environmental matrix. In this work, a dual-functional UiO type metal-organic framework (Zr-Sti) was synthesized for simultaneous detection and removal of those pollutants in aqueous solution. As for detection, Zr-Sti exhibited sensitive and selective fluorescence response to TNP and Cr2O72- with detection limit below μM level, and possible mechanism behind was proposed and partially supported by experiment data. In addition, adsorption capacity of the prepared Zr-Sti for TNP and Cr2O72- was further investigated to evaluate its performance in pollutant removal from aqueous solution, and the mechanism behinds the obtained high removal efficiency was proposed. These results together with the satisfied recovery for simultaneous detection of TNP and Cr2O72- in real sample, indicate the potential of the prepared Zr-Sti material in the field of environment monitoring and remediation.

Abstract
Artemisinin (ART) is a type of frontline drug to treat drug-resistant falciparum malaria. Simple, accurate and selective determination of ART is significant to monitor its clinical pharmaceutical efficacy. Herein, a new ratiometric fluorescence method has been designed for the determination of ART with Zn-MOF as fluorescence reference and hemin as catalyst, respectively. Zn-MOF possesses intrinsic fluorescence at 443 nm owing to 2-aminoterephthalic acid ligand. When o-phenylenediamine (OPD) is mixed with hemin, a weak fluorescent signal at 570 nm ascribed to oxidized product of OPD (oxOPD) is observed. In the presence of ART, hemin can catalyze ART to break its peroxide bridge and release a large number of reactive oxygen species, which effectively oxidize OPD into luminescent oxOPD. Therefore, the fluorescence at 570 nm is enhanced significantly while the fluorescence of Zn-MOF remains basically unchanged. Thus, a ratiometric fluorescence sensing platform has been constructed for the detection of ART. This method exhibits wider linear range (0.15 μM-150 μM) with detection limit of 50 nM. This novel and selective method has been used to detect ART in compound naphthoquinone phosphate tablets.

Abstract
Cancer cells are a class of important tumor biomarkers and are closely related to tumorous progression. It is urgent to develop a sensitive and highly efficient method for the rapid and accurate detection of cancer cells. Herein, an aptamer sandwiched nanochannel electrochemical sensor was established for the highly selective determination of cancer cells. By virtue of the porous nanochannels as the filter platform and immobilized with DNA aptamers for specifically capturing the cancer cells, the nanochannel-based electrochemical sensor denotes excellent performance for MCF-7 screening, and allowing a low limit of detection of 36 cells mL-1 . The nanochannels-based sandwich structure aptasensor not only presents an efficacious and reliable approach for cancer cell detection but also provides great advantage for preventing electrode passivation in the process of biomarkers analysis.

Abstract
It is critical for human health to develop sensitive and rapid analytical methods for detecting doxycycline (DOX) residues in food. This paper presents a novel metal-organic framework nanomaterial (Zn-MOF) based on dithiodiglycolic acid and its application in DOX detection by fluorescent probe method. Zn-MOF itself does not fluoresce. When DOX is added, the system exhibits strong fluorescence (100-fold) at 530 nm. The fluorescence intensity displayed an excellent linear relationship with DOX concentration with a detection limit of 2.7 nM. The reaction solution's fluorescence displayed a visible color shift from colorless to yellow that was concentration-dependent. A smartphone was used to detect DOX by recognizing the red, green, and blue values of the reaction solution and the corresponding test paper. The use of smartphones can speed up the detection process and streamline operations, offering a sensitive and visible method for the quantitative detection of DOX residues in actual samples. Interestingly, Zn-MOF can discriminate DOX from other tetracyclines with high selectivity. This material has been used successfully as a fluorescent probe to determine DOX in fish samples with an average spiked recovery of 94.6 % ∼ 95.1 %. The DOX levels in the measured perch samples were 1.25 ∼ 157 μg/kg. There are 2 batches of DOX exceeding the standard in 14 batches.

Abstract
Color tonality by intrinsic fluorescent metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is highly desirable in bioanalytical applications due to its stability, low-cost and robustness with no need for functionalization and/or encapsulation of fluorophores. In the present work, ultra-small and higly fluorescent zinc-based MOFs (FMOF-5) were synthesized. The prepared FMOFs were around 5 nm in size, and gave strong blue emission at 440 nm when excited at 350 nm. Interestingly, tetracycline (TC) selectively tuned the blue emission of FMOF-5 to greenish-yellow emission (520 nm) with dramatic enhancement through aggregation induced emission (AIE). The fluorimetric analysis of TC was carried out through the ratiometric peak intensities of F520/F440, with detection limit (LOD) of 5 nM. To realize quantitative point-of-care based on color tonality, a smartphone integrated with the ratiometric visual platform was thereby design. Hence, TC was visually detected with LOD of 10 nM. The prepared FMOF-5-based probe showed high stability (3 months) and reusability (∼10 times). The developed visual-based platform presents great promise for practical point of care testing due to its low-cost, robustness, ruggedness, simple operation, and excellent selectivity and repeatability.

Abstract
Detection and removal of contaminants are significant for environmental monitoring and remediation. In the present study, "two-in-one" silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) were designed and prepared to simultaneously act as the fluorescent probe and degradation catalyst to detect and remove tetracycline (TCs) antibiotics. Thiourea and 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane were dopant and silicon source to generate fluorescent sulfur and nitrogen co-doped SiNPs (SN-SiNPs). The blue fluorescence of SN-SiNPs was selectively quenched by TCs due to the inner filter effect, whilst accompanied by the newly appeared yellow-green fluorescence resulting from aggregation induced fluorescence emission effect. Based on this phenomenon, SN-SiNPs can be used as fluorescent colorimetric probes for detection of doxycycline, oxytetracycline and tetracycline with limits of detection of 1.8 μg/L, 3.0 μg/L and 4.2 μg/L, respectively; the semi-quantitation can even be visually achieved by naked eyes. Particularly, SN-SiNPs were capable to catalyze the degradation of the three TCs effectively, achieving the removal rates of doxycycline, oxytetracycline and tetracycline of >90 %, >80 % and > 70 % after 240 min exposure to UV light. The catalytic ability of SN-SiNPs was derived from hydroxyl radical (•OH-), superoxide radical (•O2-) and singlet oxygen (1O2) produced by SN-SiNPs under UV irradiation. Moreover, integrating the fluorescent probe and photocatalyst together, the proposed SN-SiNPs simultaneously realized catalyzing the degradation of the three TCs and in-situ visually monitoring of the degradation process in real time. This study innovatively proposed an integrated probe for the detection and catalytic degradation of TCs, providing a new "two-in-one" strategy for rapid and simple detection and removal of drug pollutants.

Abstract
In this study, we constructed zinc based metal-organic framework functionalized by L-histidine (His@ZiF-8). The His@ZiF-8 had high porosity, large surface area, abundant carboxyl and amino group, which has been found to greatly enhance the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) of tetracycline (TC). After the His@ZiF-8 enrichment with TC, the TC exhibited strong fluorescence emission peak at 565 nm based on AIE. Under the optimal conditions, the fluorescence intensity of TC exhibited a good linear relationship with TC concentration within 0.1-80 μM with a low limit of detection of 28.6 nM. Antibiotic analogs such as neomycin, chloramphenico, ampicillin, kanamycin, and erythromycin have no obvious interference. In addition, the developed method was successfully used to the detection of TC in milk, river water, and honey.

Abstract
Taking advantage of high porosity, large surface area, tunable nanostructures and ease of functionalization, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been popularly applied in different fields, including adsorption and separation, heterogeneous catalysis, drug delivery, light harvesting, and chemical/biological sensing. The abundant active sites for specific recognition and adjustable optical and electrical characteristics allow for the design of various sensing platforms with MOFs as promising candidates. In this review, we systematically introduce the recent advancements of MOFs-based fluorescent chemosensors and biosensors, mainly focusing on the sensing mechanisms and analytes, including inorganic ions, small organic molecules and biomarkers (e.g., small biomolecules, nucleic acids, proteins, enzymes, and tumor cells). This review may provide valuable references for the development of novel MOFs-based sensing platforms to meet the requirements of environment monitoring and clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
Aniline has attracted much concern for its long degradation half-life and huge toxicity to the environment and human beings. Therefore, the development of a multi-functional device for visual detection and efficient removal of aniline was highly anticipated. In our work, the small-size Eu@UiO-66(COOH) was obtained by post-synthesis modification (PSM), and then the film-based fluorescent sensor was prepared by crosslinking reaction. The films not only showed incredible mechanical stability and potential for large-scale preparation, but also have excellent fluorescence response to aniline in solutions and gas phase. As the concentration of aniline increased, the fluorescence of films gradually increased at 350 nm, while the fluorescence gradually quenching at 620 nm, and the detection limits (LOD) of aniline in water and air were 0.27 ppb and 0.086 ppb, respectively. In addition, the adsorption performance of the film for aniline has also been confirmed and the maximum adsorption capacity was 32.6 mg/g, which is a strong guarantee for the realization of ultra-trace detection and toxicity reduction of aniline. In summary, the multi-functional film sensor has been designed for ultra-trace detection and efficient removal of aniline in solutions and gas phase, and have significant value for pollutant treatment, ecological restoration and early prevention.

Abstract
To achieve facile and rapid detection of tetracyclines (TCs), herein, we fabricated an ingenious turn-on ratiometric fluorescence sensor (Ru@ZIF-8) based on embedding red-emitting Ru(bpy)32+ into zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8). With the introduction of TCs, Ru@ZIF-8 system held the impervious red fluorescence, and generated green fluorescence which originated from the interaction between ZIF-8 and TCs, thereby achieving ratiometric fluorescence strategy through turn-on response signal and stable reference signal. Moreover, the ratiometric response accompanied discernible color change from red to green-yellow, which facilitated detection by naked eyes. The developed sensor exhibited prominent specificity and sensitivity, with detection limits of 2.4, 4.2, 1.6 and 7.2 nM for tetracycline, chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline and doxycycline, respectively. In addition, the satisfactory recoveries were obtained during detecting TCs in drink water, milk and beef, and the test paper-based sensor was successfully applied in real-time visual detection of TCs. All results indicated the feasibility and potential application of Ru@ZIF-8.

Abstract
Two isostructural pillar-layer MOFs (JNU-105 and JNU-105-(NH2)2) have been successfully synthesized. JNU-105-(NH2)2 exhibits a red-shifted luminescence "turn on" for formaldehyde without the interference from other VOCs and a detection limit of 1.87 ppb. In situ single-crystal transformation studies confirm the aminal formation on the pillar linker, which was attributed to the exclusive luminescence response toward formaldehyde.

Abstract
The residue problem in animal food products caused by the abuse of chlortetracycline (CTC) is one of the food safety issues that have attracted much attention. Herein, a composite was generated by embedding CdTe quantum dots (QDs) into ZIF-8 for ratiometric fluorescent analysis of CTC. With adding CTC, the green luminescence of CTC appeared under the sensitization effect of Zn2+ in ZIF-8, but the red luminescence of CdTe QDs was reduced by the inner filtration effect of CTC. On this basis, CTC was detected by the composite with a short response time of 1 min, and the limit of detection was calculated to be 37 nM that was 17 times lower than the maximum residue limit of CTC in animal food products (626 nM). Excellent recyclability of the composite was also observed, and CTC was consecutively measured at least six times. The composite was used to determine CTC in basa fish and pure milk with satisfactory recoveries (91.0-110.0%). Portable test strips were further manufactured and the visual determination of CTC was obtained. These results convictively demonstrate that CdTe QDs@ZIF-8 composite as a recyclable ratiometric fluorescent sensor achieves the rapid and sensitive measurement of CTC residue in animal food products.

Lipid membrane anchoring and highly specific fluorescence detection of cancer-derived exosomes based on postfunctionalized zirconium-metal-organic frameworks. Biochem Biophys Res Commun 2022; 609:69-74. Abstract
Cancer-derived exosomes carry a variety of important biomarkers specific to the formation, invasion and metastasis of tumor tissue. Dynamic monitoring of exosomes originated from cancer cells has clinical significance. Here we proposed a novel method to employ zirconium-metal-organic frameworks (Zr-MOFs) for extracting and identifying exosomes from blood. At first UiO-66 was magnetically modified as the adsorbent to anchor exosomes by forming Zr-O-P bonds. Then UiO-66-NH2 modified with anti-EpCAM was used to construct the fluorescent probe to recognize the extracted EpCAM-positive exosomes by forming a "MOF-exosome-MOF" structure. The proposed fluorescence detection method was evaluated by quantifying MCF-7 cell-derived exosomes at the concentration as low as 16.72 particles/μl. This method was successfully applied to analyze exosomes in the plasma samples from healthy donors and breast cancer patients, demonstrating that our method might have a great potential in assisting the early diagnosis and in dynamically monitoring the efficacy of cancer treatment. We believe that the method could be extended to the detection of other biomarkers in exosomes derived from cancer cell.
