Abstract
A new organic-inorganic hybrid open-framework molybdovanadate with mixed-valences of vanadium (V4+ /V5+ =4/3) and molybdenum (Mo5+ /Mo6+ =8/2) cations has been synthesized. The complex possesses the unique V/Mo ratio (7/10), fascinating 8-C topological network and 1D 4-MR channels (7.793 Å×6.699 Å). Importantly, its catalytic activities for the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde (oxidant: H2 O2 , 30 wt %) have been well evaluated. The results indicated that it exhibited improved catalytic activities (conv.: 96.8 %) compared with the catalyst (Cpyr)5 PV2 Mo5 W5 O40 [conv.: 88.51 %, Cpyr=(C16 H32 C5 H4 N)+ )], high recyclability and structural stability. Moreover, the conversions and selectivities (conv.: 82.4-92.5 %; sele.: 91.5-95.7 %) of the substrates containing electron donating groups (-OH, -CH3 , -OCH3 and -Cl) were significantly higher than those of the substrate containing electron withdrawing group (-NO2 ) (conv. 67.4 %; sele.: 80.8 %). This is due to the fact that the -NO2 with a large Hammett substituent constant is not conducive to the generation of transition state products. The studies revealed the complex could act as a highly efficient heterogeneous catalyst in selective oxidation of benzyl alcohols.

Abstract
Oxides are emerging candidates for mid-infrared (mid-IR) nonlinear optical (NLO) materials. However, their intrinsically weak second harmonic generation (SHG) effects hinder their further development. A major design challenge is to increase the nonlinear coefficient while maintaining the broad mid-IR transmission and high laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) of the oxides. In this study, it is reported on a polar NLO tellurite, Cd2 Nb2 Te4 O15 (CNTO), featuring a pseudo-Aurivillius-type perovskite layered structure composed of three types of NLO active groups, including CdO6 octahedra, NbO6 octahedra, and TeO4 seesaws. The uniform orientation of the distorted units induces a giant SHG response that is ≈31 times larger than that of KH2 PO4 , the largest value among all reported metal tellurites. Additionally, CNTO exhibits a large band gap (3.75 eV), a wide optical transparency window (0.33-14.5 µm), superior birefringence (0.12@ 546 nm), high LIDT (23 × AgGaS2 ), and strong acid and alkali resistance, indicating its potential as a promising mid-IR NLO material.

Abstract
Intense interests in mid-infrared (MIR) nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals have erupted in recent years due to the development of optoelectronic applications ranging from remote monitoring to molecular spectroscopy. Here, two polar crystals Ca3(TeO3)2(MO4) (M = Mo, W) were grown from TeO2-MO3 flux by high-temperature solution methods. Ca3(TeO3)2(MoO4) and Ca3(TeO3)2(WO4) are isostructural, which feature novel structures consisting of asymmetric MO4 tetrahedra and TeO3 trigonal pyramids. Optical characterizations show that both crystals display ultrawide transparency ranges (279 nm to 5.78 μm and 290 nm to 5.62 μm), especially high optical transmittance over 80% in the important atmospheric transparent window of 3-5 μm, and superhigh laser damage thresholds (1.63 GW/cm2 and 1.50 GW/cm2), 54.3 and 50 times larger than that of state-of-the-art MIR NLO AgGaS2, respectively. Notably, they exhibit the widest band gaps and the loftiest laser-induced threshold damages among the reported tellurates so far. Moreover, Ca3(TeO3)2(MO4) exhibit type I phase matching at two working wavelengths owing to their large birefringence and strong second-harmonic generation responses from the distorted anions, as further elucidated by the first-principles calculations. The above characteristics indicate that Ca3(TeO3)2(MO4) crystals are high-performance MIR NLO materials, especially applying in high-power MIR laser operations.

Abstract
Metal ions being an important part of biological systems are of great interest in the designing of new drugs. Molybdenum is an essential trace element for humans, animals, and plants and naturally present in many enzymes hence its complexes can be expected to serve as potential candidates for biomedical applications. A novel molybdenum-based coordination polymer, [Mo2(μ2-O)O4(2-pyc)2(H2O)], is synthesized by a hydrothermal route and structurally characterized by using single crystal X-Ray diffraction. The structure consists of molybdenum octahedra connected by a bridging oxo ligand and 2-pyc forming a one-dimensional coordination polymer. This Mo coordination polymer was found to show a considerable inhibitory effect with IC50 values of 22.63 μmol L-1, 28.19 μmol L-1, and 20.97 μmol L-1, against HepG2 (human liver cancer), A549 (human lung cancer), and MCF-7 (human breast cancer) cell lines respectively. This is the first attempt at exploring the molybdenum-based coordination polymer for antitumor applications. The cell cytotoxicity analysis revealed that the anti-tumor potential of the compound is governed by arresting of the A549, HepG2, and MCF-7 cancer cells in the S phase of the cell cycle. UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy further revealed the binding interaction between the Mo coordination polymer and ctDNA and the binding constant was found to be 5.9 × 103 L mol-1, which is in agreement with those of well-known groove binders. This binding interaction in turn induces apoptosis and necrosis pathways leading to the death of the cancer cells.

Abstract
Nonlinear optical (NLO) materials have critically important applications in advanced laser technologies. However, achieving a good balance between the mutual competing NLO properties and band gap within one molecular structure remains a great challenge. In this study, two alkaline earth metal fluorinated molybdenum oxide selenite/tellurite, Ba(MoO2F)2(XO3)2 [X = Se (BMFS) and Te (BMFT)], were synthesized through a facile unary substitution: BMFS was obtained by partial substitution of oxygen atoms with highly electronegative fluorine in the parent compound BaMo2O5(SeO3)2 (BMS), while BMFT was achieved by further replacing lone-pair Se4+ cations in BMFS with heavier Te4+ cations in the same main group. By partially replacing oxygen with fluorine, BMFS shows a broadened band gap and enhanced second harmonic generation (SHG) response compared to BMS owing to the high electronegativity of fluorine anions and the favorable orientation and alignment of NLO-active [MoO5F]5- and [SeO3]2- groups, which is relatively rare for unary anion substitution. BMFS and BMFT are isostructural and both belong to the polar space group Aba2, featuring a three-dimensional (3D) double-layered framework composed of 2D [MoO4F(XO3)]∞ anionic layers interconnected by divalent barium cations. Both BMFS and BMFT exhibit good optical performance, including large SHG responses (3× and 4× KH2PO4), wide band gaps (3.30 and 3.27 eV) and optical transparency window, and high laser damage thresholds (60× and 53× AgGaS2), demonstrating their potential applications as promising second-order NLO crystals. DFT calculations have elucidated the crucial role of the [MoO5F]5- groups in the enlarged band gaps and enhanced SHG responses in BMFS and BMFT. This work proposes a feasible unary substitution strategy for synthesizing the first polar fluorinated molybdenum oxide selenite/tellurite with synchronously enlarged band gaps and SHG efficiency.

Abstract
Two new coordination polymers [Zn (bdc)(bpybzimH2)](DMF)0.5 (1, H2bdc=1,4-dicarboxybenzene, bpybzimH2=6,6'-bis-(1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine, DMF=N,N-dimethylformamide) and [Co (bpybzimH2)(sbc)]H2O (2, H2sbc=4-mercaptobenzoic acid) have been successfully prepared under solvothermal conditions using the multi-N chelating organic ligand bpybzimH2 as the foundational building block. In addition, the Cell Counting Kit-8 assay was conducted to evaluate the anti-proliferation activity of compounds 1 and 2 against human spinal tumor cells OPM-2. The cell viability curves showed that the two compounds have anti-proliferation activity on spinal tumor cells, and the activity of compound 1 is higher than compound 2. The annexin V-FITC/PI assay and western blot were used to detect the apoptotic percentage of OPM-2 cells incubated with compounds 1 and 2. The YAP protein expression and its role in cell apoptosis were further studied with qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, and flow cytometer.
