Abstract
Multimetallic catalysts exhibit great potential in the activation and catalytic transformation of small molecules. The polarized metal-metal bonds have been gradually recognized to account for the reactivity of multimetallic catalysts due to the synergistic effect of different metal centers. Gas-phase reactions on atomic clusters that compositionally resemble the active sites on related condensed-phase catalysts provide a widely accepted strategy to clarify the nature of polarized metal-metal bonds and the mechanistic details of elementary steps involved in the catalysis driven by this unique chemical bonding. This perspective review concerns the progress in the fundamental understanding of industrially and environmentally important reactions that are closely related to the polarized metal-metal bonds in clusters at a strictly molecular level. The following topics have been summarized and discussed: (1) catalytic CO oxidation with O2, H2O, and NO as oxidants (2) and the activation of other inert molecules (e.g., CH4, CO2, and N2) mediated with clusters featuring polarized metal-metal bonding. It turns out that the findings in the gas phase parallel the catalytic behaviors of condensed-phase catalysts and the knowledge can prove to be essential in inspiring future design of promising catalysts.

Abstract
There is growing interest in the design of bimetallic cooperative complexes, which have emerged due to their potential for bond activation and catalysis, a feature widely exploited by nature in metalloenzymes, and also in the field of heterogeneous catalysis. Herein, we discuss the widespread opportunities derived from combining two metals in close proximity, ranging from systems containing multiple M-M bonds to others in which bimetallic cooperation occurs even in the absence of M⋯M interactions. The choice of metal pairs is crucial for the reactivity of the resulting complexes. In this context, we describe the prospects of combining not only transition metals but also those of the main group series, which offer additional avenues for cooperative pathways and reaction discovery. Emphasis is given to mechanisms by which bond activation occurs across bimetallic structures, which is ascribed to the precise synergy between the two metal atoms. The results discussed herein indicate a future landscape full of possibilities within our reach, where we anticipate that bimetallic synergism will have an important impact in the design of more efficient catalytic processes and the discovery of new catalytic transformations.

Abstract
A new class of dirhodium(II) complexes with tethered sulfonamide and carboxamide ligands was synthesized and characterized. A new type of coordination mode was found for the quinoline moiety containing a sulfonamide ligand, which afforded the axially coordination-free bimetallic dirhodium complexes. Studies were conducted on the catalytic properties of these complexes for cyclopropanation reactions, and the findings indicate that a free axial coordination site is crucial for achieving a high degree of reactivity.

Abstract
During our attempts to prepare paddlewheel actinide-molybdenum complexes of the type [(X)An(MesNPR2)3Mo(CO)3] (Mes= 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl; X = Cl or I; An = U or Th; R = iPr or Ph) we have found that under certain conditions acetonitrile insertion reactions occur to give the heterobimetallic bridging ketimido species [ClAn(μ-MesNPiPr2)2(μ-MesNPiPr2{μ-NCMe})Mo(CO)3] (An = U, 1; Th, 2), [ClAn(μ-MesNPPh2)2(μ-MesNPPh2{μ-NCMe})Mo(CO)3] (An = U, 3; An = Th, 4), and [IAn(η2-MesNPiPr2)(μ-MesNPiPr2){μ-NC(Me)N(Mes)PiPr2}Mo(CO)3] (An = U, 5; Th, 6). Structural and spectroscopic data confirm the assignment of a ketimido ligand bridging An(IV) and Mo(0) centers. The isolation of 1-6 is in contrast to our previously reported preparations of [(X)An(MesNPPh2)3Mo(CO)3] (An = U or Th; X= Cl or I; Chem. Commun. 2018, 54, 13515-13518) with the difference in reactivity being attributable to a combination of ancillary phosphino-amide, reaction solvent, and temperature variation. Complexes 1-5 represent the first examples of structurally characterized ketimido-bridged actinide-transition metal linkages and demonstrate the profound differences in reaction outcomes that can occur from relatively minor experimental changes.

Abstract
Complex [Mo2(H)2{μ-HC(NDipp)2}2(THF)2], (1·THF), reacts with C2H4 and PhCH[double bond, length as m-dash]CH2 to afford hydrido-hydrocarbyl and bis(hydrocarbyl) derivatives of the Mo[quadruple bond, length as m-dash]Mo bond. Reversible migratory insertion and β-hydrogen elimination, as well as reductive elimination and other reactions, have been uncovered. PhC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CH behaves instead as a Brönsted-Lowry acid towards the strongly basic Mo-H bonds of 1·THF.

Abstract
Herein we report the employment of the quintuply bonded dichromium amidinates [Cr{κ2 -HC(N-2,6-i Pr2 C6 H3 )(N-2,6-R2 C6 H3 )}]2 (R=iPr (1), Me (7)) as catalysts to mediate the [2+2+2] cyclotrimerization of terminal alkynes giving 1,3,5-trisubstituted benzenes. During the catalysis, the ultrashort Cr-Cr quintuple bond underwent reversible cleavage/formation, corroborated by the characterization of two inverted arene sandwich dichromium complexes (μ-η6 :η6 -1,3,5-(Me3 Si)3 C6 H3 )[Cr{κ2 -HC(N-2,6-i Pr2 C6 H3 )(N-2,6-R2 C6 H3 )}]2 (R=i Pr (5), Me (8)). In the presence of σ donors, such as THF and 2,4,6-Me3 C6 H2 CN, the bridging arene 1,3,5-(Me3 Si)3 C6 H3 in 5 and 8 was extruded and 1 and 7 were regenerated. Theoretical calculations were employed to disclose the reaction pathways of these highly regioselective [2+2+2] cylcotrimerization reactions of terminal alkynes.
