Abstract
Organic-inorganic silver halide hybrids show abundant phase transitions and thermochromism. However, it is very rare that silver halides exhibit thermochromism related to thermotropic structure phase transition. Herein, a bromoargentate hybrid, [Pr-dabco]2Ag4Br6 (1) (Pr-dabco+ = 1-propyl-1,4-diazabicyclo-[2.2.2]octan-1-ium), with tetranuclear [Ag4Br6]2- clusters was prepared and characterized by microanalysis, ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques. Interestingly, 1 undergoes an irreversible structure phase transition at ∼436 K in the first heating process, which is accompanied by an abrupt color change from colorless to yellow; however, a reversible color change between pale yellow and yellow is observed in the next heating-cooling cycles. Notably, DSC measurement revealed that a reversible phase transition is associated with the change in color between pale yellow and yellow, while the powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) patterns corresponding to pale yellow and yellow phases are quite similar to each other. These observations demonstrate that thermochromism in the next heating-cooling runs is associated with a reversible structure phase transition, which perhaps concerns the disorder-order transformation of alkyl chains in the cationic ligand [Pr-dabco]+, and relevant to the anharmonic fluctuations of the Ag-Br and Ag-N bonds, a strong electron-phonon coupling effect is seen within the bromoargentate cluster.

Abstract
The explorations of new three-dimensional (3D) microporous metal halides, especially the iodoargentate-based hybrids, and understanding of their structure-activity relationships are still quite essential but full of great challenges. Herein, with the aromatic 4,4'-dpa (4,4'-dpa = 4,4'-dipyridylamine) ligands as the structural directing agents, we solvothermal synthesized and structurally characterized a novel member of microporous iodoargentate family, namely [H2-4,4'-dpa]Ag6I8 (1). Compound 1 possesses a unique and complicated 3D [Ag6I8]n2n- anionic architecture that was built up from the unusual hexameric [Ag6I13] secondary building units (SBUs). Research on optical properties indicated that compound 1 exhibited semiconductor behavior, with an optical band gap of 2.50 eV. Under the alternate irradiation of light, prominent photoelectric switching abilities could be achieved by compound [H2-4,4'-dpa]Ag6I8, whose photocurrent densities (0.37 μA·cm-2 for visible light and 1.23 μA·cm-2 for full-spectrum) compared well with or exceeded those of some high-performance halide counterparts. Further theoretical calculations revealed that the relatively dispersed conduction bands (CBs) structures in compound 1 induced higher electron mobilities, which may be responsible for its good photoelectricity. Presented in this work also comprised the analyses of Hirshfeld surface, powder X-ray diffractometer (PXRD), thermogravimetric measurement, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrum (EDX) along with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with permanent porosity and multifunctional catalytic sites constructed by two or more organic ligands are regarded as effective heterogeneous catalysts to improve certain organic catalytic reactions. In this work, a pillared-layer Zn-MOF (MOF-LS10) was constructed by 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)pyrazine (H4TCPP) and 2,5-di(pyridin-4-yl)thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole (DPTZTZ). After activation, MOF-LS10 has a permanent porosity and moderate CO2 adsorption capacity. The introduction of thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole (TZTZ), a photoactive unit, into the framework endows MOF-LS10 with excellent photocatalytic performance. MOF-LS10 can not only efficiently catalyze the formation of cyclic carbonates from CO2 and epoxide substrates under mild conditions but also can photocatalyze benzylamine coupling at room temperature. In addition, we used another two ligands 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene (H4BTEB) and 1,4-di(pyridin-4-yl)benzene (DPB) to synthesize MOF-LS11 (constructed by BTEB4- and DPTZTZ) and MOF-LS12 (constructed by TCPP4- and DPB) in order to explore whether the pyrazine structural unit and the TZTZ structural unit synergistically catalyze the reaction. The electron paramagnetic resonance spectrum demonstrates that the superoxide radical (·O2-), generated by electron transfer from the MOF excited by light to the oxidant, is the main active substance of oxidation. The design and synthesis of MOF-LS10 provide an effective synthetic strategy for the development of versatile heterogeneous catalysts for various organic reactions and a wide range of substrates.

Abstract
Two haloargentate hybrids, [Me-dabco]Ag2X3 (Me-dabco = 1-methyl-1,4-diazabicyclo-[2.2.2]octan-1-ium, X = I (1) or Br (2)), with the same formula but different structures have been synthesized by a slow evaporation method and characterized by microanalysis, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric, and powder X-ray diffraction techniques. Hybrid 1 consists of completely isolated [Ag4I6]2- clusters, while hybrid 2 exhibits a complicated one-dimensional (1D) chain structure formed by four different configurations of neutral chains and two dissimilar configurations of anionic chains. Hybrid 2 undergoes two reversible order-disorder phase transitions, while hybrid 1 displays one reversible and one irreversible structural phase transition. Both 1 and 2 displayed step-like dielectric anomalies in the vicinity of the phase transition temperature. The corresponding dielectric constants in the high dielectric states are approximately 13 and 6 times higher than those in the low dielectric states for 1 and 2, respectively. Interestingly, the subtle change of halides from I- to Br- significantly affects the aggregated structure of haloargentate, the phase transition, and dielectric behaviors, revealing the typical 'butterfly effect' with the ion radii of halides in these two haloargentate hybrids.

Abstract
Cluster-based framework metal iodides have diverse structures and excellent luminescence properties, and show promising applications in sensing and solid-state lighting. However, the design and synthesis of these materials remain great challenges because excess I- ions introduced into the synthesis systems decrease the condensation degree of M-I units. In this work, a new strategy is developed to control the condensation behavior of Ag-I units, and a new silver-rich cluster-based framework iodide [DabcoAg8I6(SPh)2]n (1) (Dabco = 1,4-diazabicyclo [2.2.2] octane) has been synthesized under solvothermal conditions in the presence of silver thiophenolate (AgSPh)n. Compound 1 features a three-dimensional (3-D) cluster-based framework with a pillared layer structure composed of cationic [Ag8I6]2+ clusters bridged by SPh- and Dabco, and displays low-temperature dual emission and luminescence thermochromism.

Abstract
By mediation of the pH values, three novel inorganic-organic iodoplumbate hybrids, [Me3TPT][Pb3I9] [1; Me3TPT = trimethyl-2,4,6-tris(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine], [Me3TPT]2[Pb9I24] (2), and [Me3TPT]2[Pb19I44] (3), have been achieved under solvothermal conditions. The large conjugated in situ N-alkylation polypyridine derivatives act as structure-directing agents and electron acceptors, making the materials feature adjustable structural variations with 0D, 1D, and 2D structures and a potential semiconductive performance with narrow energy gaps (1.72, 1.80, and 1.78 eV for 1-3, respectively), which result in their efficient photocatalytic activity under visible-light irradiation. Theoretical calculation reveals that the conjugated organic moieties greatly contribute to the conduction band, leading to narrow band gaps. It is expected that the work will contribute to the exploitation of novel semiconducting halometallates by employing conjugated organic species as structure-directing agents.

Abstract
We synthesized and characterized three types of isostructural iodoargentates, [TM(phen)3]Ag2I4·3DMF (TM = Co (1), Ni (2), Zn (3)), [TM(phen)3]Ag3I5·DMF (TM = Co (4), Ni (5), Zn (6)), and [TM(phen)3]2Ag8I12·7DMF (TM = Co (7), Ni (8), Zn (9)) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, DMF = dimethylformamide) using transition-metal (TM) complexes as the structure-directing agents. Compounds 1-3 and compounds 4-6 feature zero-dimensional anionic [Ag4I8]4- and [Ag6I10]4- clusters, respectively. All of the [TM(phen)3]2+ cations in compounds 1-6 are arranged into a two-dimensional (2D) (6,3) net layer. Interestingly, compounds 1-3 are kinetically unstable in the mother solution, and they can be converted to compounds 4-6 via irreversible single-crystal to single-crystal transformation processes, respectively, with distinct changes in the crystal morphology and structure. Compounds 7-9 feature one-dimensional (1D) zigzag chains constructed from [Ag8I12]4- units. The UV-vis diffuse reflectance measurements demonstrate that compounds 1-9 possess the characteristics of semiconductors with band gaps of 2.58-2.71 eV and visible-light-irradiation-induced photocatalytic activities. Especially, compound 3 possesses higher photocatalytic degradation activity toward crystal violet (CV) and rhodamine B (RhB) in comparison to P25 under identical conditions. Moreover, the mechanism study reveals that the TM complex cations make a great contribution to the photocatalytic activity.

Abstract
Luminescent thermochromic materials with a dramatic shift of emission band under different temperatures are highly desirable in temperature sensing fields. However, the design of the synthesis of such compounds remains a great challenge. In this work, two new luminescent thermochromic silver iodides, (emIm)Ag3I4 (1) and (emIm)Ag2I3 (2) (emIm = 1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazole), have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions. Compound 1 features a [Ag3I4]- anionic layer, while compound 2 possesses an infinite [Ag2I3]- chain structure, both of which are charge balanced by emIm+ cations. Particularly, they display luminescent thermochromism with a significant wavelength shift of emission maximum with temperature change. They represent rare examples of infinite layered or chain silver iodides that show luminescent thermochromism. Furthermore, the results indicate that compounds 1 and 2 are promising wavelength-dependent luminescent thermometers.

Abstract
With the in situ-generated [Pb(MCP)4]2+ (HMCP+ = 1-methyl-4-(carboxyl)pyridinium) or [M(phen)3]2+ (M = Co, Fe and Ni; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) complexes as structural directing agents and charge-balancing ions, we solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized four new organic-inorganic hybrid iodoplumbates. Compound K2[Pb(MCP)4]Pb3I10 (1) represents the first K+ and [Pb(MCP)4]2+ co-templated hybrid haloplumbate, and exhibits a curve-like anionic layer of [Pb3I10]n4n-. Compounds [M(phen)3]Pb2I6·CH3CN (M = Co (2), Fe (3) and Ni (4)) have isostructural phases, and feature a one-dimensional (1D) [Pb2I6]n2n- anionic chain characteristic of pyramid-like [PbI5] units. The optical property studies show that compounds 1-4 exhibit semiconductor behaviors with the band gaps of 1.98-2.68 eV. In addition, the title compounds exhibited interesting photoelectrical responsive properties, with the photocurrent density in the order of 1 > 3 > 2 > 4. The thermal stabilities of the title compounds 1-4, as well as the theoretical band structure and density of states (DOS) of compounds 1 and 2 have also been studied.

Abstract
Bacterial infection is a serious problem threatening human health. The chitosan (CS)-modified MoS2 coating loaded with silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) was designed on the surface of titanium (Ti) to kill bacteria rapidly and efficiently under 660 nm visible light. Ag/MoS2 exhibited high photocatalytic activity due to the rapid transfer of photo-inspired electrons from MoS2 to Ag NPs, resulting in higher yields of radical oxygen species (ROS) to kill bacteria. The covering of CS made the composite coating positively charged to further enhance the antibacterial property of the coating. In addition, CS/Ag/MoS2-Ti also showed a certain photothermal effect. in vitro results showed that the antibacterial efficiency of the coating on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli was 98.66% and 99.77% respectively, when the coating was irradiated by 660 nm visible light for 20 min. Cell culture tests showed that CS/Ag/MoS2-Ti had no adverse effects on cell growth. Hence, this surface system will be a very promising strategy for eliminating bacterial infection on biomedical device and implants safely and effectively within a short time.

Abstract
In this study, a multi-step phase transition hybrid composed of (Pr-dabco)2Ag4I6 clusters (Pr-dabco+ = 1-propyl-1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octan-1-ium) has been prepared and characterized by microanalysis, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy, TG and DSC techniques, etc. This hybrid is thermally stable up to ∼486 K with five phases in the temperature region below 486 K. The phase transition shows symmetry breaking (SB) character between phases II (space group P21/c) and III (space group Pa3[combining macron]), while inverse symmetry breaking (ISB) between phases II and I (space group Pbca), and it is rather exceptional for matter to exhibit simultaneously SB and ISB nature in two successive phase transitions. Most importantly, each phase transition is associated with a dielectric anomaly, and phase V appears to be a plastic crystal with extra high ac conductivity (>10-2 S cm-1). Our work opens up new avenues to find a multi-phase transition material in silver halide hybrids.

Abstract
In recent years, organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides have emerged as a highly promising class of semiconducting light emitting diodes (LEDs) due to their fascinating photoluminescence properties. Here, by specifically selecting different organic cations as templates, a series of new hybrid cuprous halides have been solvothermally prepared, namely [Me-Py]CuI2 (1), [(Me)2-DABCO]Cu2I4 (2), [Me-MePy]Cu2I3 (3), and [H2DABCO]Cu3X5 (X = I (4) and Br (5)). These hybrid cuprous halides feature one-dimensional (1D) [CuI2]-, [Cu2I3]- and [Cu3X5]2- (X = Br, I) chains surrounded and charge-balanced by organic cations. Under UV photoexcitation, these hybrid cuprous halides exhibit strong tunable photoluminescence from cyan (480 nm) to red (675 nm) emissions with large Stokes shifts (345 nm). The intrinsic nature of PL emissions is also investigated based on temperature-dependent PL emission, lifetime, photoluminescence quantum efficiencies, etc.

Abstract
Simple room-temperature self-assemblies between Cd2+ salts, SCN- and bisimidazole molecules at pH = 2 created three new organically templated thiocyanatocadmates [H2(L1)][Cd(SCN)4]·H2O (L1 = 1,4-bis(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene) 1, [H2(L2)][Cd(SCN)4] (L2 = 1,3-bis(2-methylimidazol-1-yl)propane) 2, and [H2(L3)][Cd2(SCN)6] (L3 = 1,4-bis(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)butane) 3. X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis reveals that (i) in 1-3, the SCN- groups doubly bridge the Cd2+ centers to form different thiocyanatocadmates: a linear chain in 1; a zigzag chain in 2; and a 2-D layer network (63 net) in 3; and (ii) in 1, via Nbase-HNSCN interactions, the L1 molecules extend the thiocyanatocadmate chains into a 2-D supramolecular layer, whereas in 2, the zigzag thiocyanatocadmate chains self-assemble into a 3-D supramolecular network via weak SS interactions. Photoluminescence analysis indicates that the three title compounds all emit light: blue light for 1 and 2 and green light for 3. At low temperatures, the emission positions of the three compounds hardly change, but the emission intensities are largely enhanced. Interestingly, after turning off the UV lamp, 1 and 2 still briefly emit light (ca. 2 s), which means that 1 and 2 possess phosphorescence properties. Phosphorescence lifetimes at 77 K are 1619 ms for 1 and 247 ms for 2.

Alkyl-dependent self-assembly of the first red-emitting zwitterionic {Cu 4I 6} clusters from [alkyl-P(2-Py) 3] + salts and CuI: when size matters. Dalton Trans 2019; 48:2328-2337. Abstract
A series of red-emissive {Cu4I6} clusters have been synthesized from alkyl-tris(2-pyridyl)phosphonium halides, [R-PPy3]Hal, and CuI. The size of the alkyl substituent (R) has a dramatic impact on the structure of the clusters assembled. [Me-PPy3]I salt reacts with CuI (1 : 2) to give the ionic [Cu(Me-PPy3)I]2Cu2I4 complex consisting of the scorpionate [Cu(N,N',N''-Me-PPy3)I]+ cation. Under similar conditions, [Pr-PPy3]I forms the zwitterionic [Cu4I6(Pr-TPP)2] complex containing an unusual stepwise [Cu4I6] cluster core. The use of [Bu-PPy3]I or [Bn-PPy3]I in this reaction leads to zwitterionic [Cu4I6(R-TPP)2] complexes, in which a linear-shaped [Cu4I6] module appears. Photophysical studies supported by TD-DFT computations have revealed that the title complexes in the solid state at 298 K exhibit a red photoluminescence (λemmax = 620-650 nm) with short lifetimes (0.04-2.10 μs), which are assigned to the thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) mixed with the cluster centered (3CC) phosphorescence. The compounds synthesized are the first red-emitting representatives of the recently discovered family of zwitterionic CuI-based complexes (so-called "AIO" structures).

Abstract
In this article, three bisimidazole derivatives (1,4-bis(2-ethylimidazol-1-yl)butane, L1; 4,4′-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-1,1′-biphenyl, L2′; and 1,3-bis(2-ethylimidazol-1-yl)propane, L3) were employed to solvothermally react with AgI in an acidic environment, creating three new 1-D chained iodoargentates [H(L1)][Ag5I6]·DMF (DMF = N,N′-dimethylformamide) 1, [L2][Ag3I5] (L22+ = 4,4′-di(1H-imidazol-1-ium)-1,1′-biphenyl) 2, and [H2(L3)][Ag2I4] 3. L22+ in 2 originated from the in situ N-alkylation of L2′ with the CH3OH solvent. X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis reveals that (i) in 1, Ag+ and I− aggregate to form a 1-D tube-like iodoargentate, which exhibits the same topology as the carbon tube; (ii) the chain structure of the iodoargentate in 2 is based on a kind of trinuclear Ag–I cluster, which can be viewed as a segment of the classical cubic M4I4 cluster; (iii) the chain structure of the iodoargentate in 3 is simple, which can be described as a linear arrangement of the AgI4 tetrahedra by sharing edges. The photoluminescence analysis reveals that at 77 K, (i) 1 and 2 emit strong yellow light with ms-grade photoluminescence lifetimes (5.460 ms for 1, 6.931 ms for 2); (ii) 3 possesses photochromic luminescence properties. Upon excitation at 254 nm, it emits blue-green light, whereas upon excitation at 365 nm, it emits yellow light. Three bisimidazole-based chained iodoargentates were solvothermally synthesized, and their photoluminescent behaviors at different temperatures were investigated. Of those, 3 has been found to possess photochromic luminescence properties.![]()
