Abstract
In this work we report a strategy for generating porosity in hybrid metal halide materials using molecular cages that serve as both structure-directing agents and counter-cations. Reaction of the [2.2.2] cryptand (DHS) linker with PbII in acidic media gave rise to the first porous and water-stable 2D metal halide semiconductor (DHS)2 Pb5 Br14 . The corresponding material is stable in water for a year, while gas and vapor-sorption studies revealed that it can selectively and reversibly adsorb H2 O and D2 O at room temperature (RT). Solid-state NMR measurements and DFT calculations verified the incorporation of H2 O and D2 O in the organic linker cavities and shed light on their molecular configuration. In addition to porosity, the material exhibits broad light emission centered at 617 nm with a full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 284 nm (0.96 eV). The recorded water stability is unparalleled for hybrid metal halide and perovskite materials, while the generation of porosity opens new pathways towards unexplored applications (e.g. solid-state batteries) for this class of hybrid semiconductors.

Abstract
Lead-based metal halide perovskites have received widespread attention for their promising application prospects in the field of lighting and display due to their excellent optical properties. However, the toxicity of lead may hinder their further commercial application. Herein, a zero-dimensional (0D) metal halide (NH4)2InCl5·H2O with an orthorhombic structure and the Pnma space group was produced. With doping with Sb3+, these products exhibit one highly efficient and wide yellow emission band (∼450-850 nm) in their photoluminescence (PL) spectra, which covers almost the entire visible spectral range at room temperature; however, they give two emission bands with long decay lifetimes (microseconds) at low temperature. Temperature-dependent steady-state PL, transient PL spectroscopy, temperature-dependent Raman spectra characterization, and theoretical band structure calculations confirm that the dual-band emission at low temperature originates from the dual vibronic levels of the self-trapped exciton (STE) in the hole-vibration state, whose vibration energy is related to the H2O-NH4+ connection in the valence band. This result proves that the vibronic state in STE formation involves both electrons and holes in the excited states, the opposite of this happens in the electron-vibration band in most perovskite halides. These results provide new insight into the luminescent mechanism of Sb3+ in halide perovskites, especially used for emission color modulation by the temperature-dependent electron- or hole-vibration processes.

Abstract
Organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides (OIMHs) exhibiting white-light emission are a splendid class of emitters and are regarded as desired phosphors for solid-state lighting applications. Here we report a single-component white-light-emitting hybrid metal halide, namely, [C6H7ClN]CdCl3 (C6H7ClN = 4-(chloromethyl)pyridinium), which features a corrugated 1D anionic double chain composed of edge-shared CdCl6 octahedrons and exhibits broadband white-light emission with a photoluminescence quantum yield of 12.3% under 365 nm UV light irradiation. Density functional theory calculations and temperature-dependent emission spectral analysis unveil that the broadband emission of [C6H7ClN]CdCl3 is ascribed to self-trapped excitons. Moreover, a single-component white-light-emitting diode device with a correlated color temperature of 5214 K and color rendering index of 83.7 can be fabricated via coating [C6H7ClN]CdCl3 on a 365 nm UV light-emitting diode chip. Such a promising luminescent material provides guidance for the design and synthesis of OIMHs with unique structures and desired properties.

Abstract
By mediation of the pH values, three novel inorganic-organic iodoplumbate hybrids, [Me3TPT][Pb3I9] [1; Me3TPT = trimethyl-2,4,6-tris(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine], [Me3TPT]2[Pb9I24] (2), and [Me3TPT]2[Pb19I44] (3), have been achieved under solvothermal conditions. The large conjugated in situ N-alkylation polypyridine derivatives act as structure-directing agents and electron acceptors, making the materials feature adjustable structural variations with 0D, 1D, and 2D structures and a potential semiconductive performance with narrow energy gaps (1.72, 1.80, and 1.78 eV for 1-3, respectively), which result in their efficient photocatalytic activity under visible-light irradiation. Theoretical calculation reveals that the conjugated organic moieties greatly contribute to the conduction band, leading to narrow band gaps. It is expected that the work will contribute to the exploitation of novel semiconducting halometallates by employing conjugated organic species as structure-directing agents.

Abstract
In recent years, two-dimensional (2D) hybrid lead halide perovskites based on corner-shared [PbX6] octahedrons have received extensive attention with important potentials in single-component white-light emitting diodes (WLEDs) due to the soft and distorted crystal lattices. However, limited research focused on the one-dimensional (1D) perovskites although they possess similar structural superiorities to achieve this performance. Herein, by using different types of organic amine cations as structural direction reagents, we report one new type of hybrid 1D perovskites of APbCl3 (A = (DTHPE)0.5, DMTHP, DBN) based on the same 1D face-shared octahedral [PbCl3]- chains. Upon UV light excitation, these 1D APbCl3 perovskites exhibit intrinsic broad-band bluish white-light emissions covering entire visible light spectra with the highest photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 6.99%, which catches up with the values of previously reported 2D perovskites. Through the systematical studies of time-resolved, temperature-dependent PL emissions, theoretical calculations, and so on, these broad-band light emissions can be ascribed to the radiative transition within conjugated organic cations. The facile assembly process, intrinsic broad-band light emissions, and high PLQYs enable these 1D APbCl3 perovskites as new types of promising candidates in fabricating single-component WLEDs.

Abstract
Recently, 2D organic-inorganic hybrid lead halide perovskites have attracted intensive attention in solid-state luminescence fields such as single-component white-light emitters, and rational optimization of the photoluminescence (PL) performance through accurate structural-design strategies is still significant. Herein, by carefully choosing homologous aliphatic amines as templates, isotypical perovskites [DMEDA]PbCl4 (1, DMEDA=N,N-dimethylethylenediamine) and [DMPDA]PbCl4 (2, DMPDA=N,N-dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropane) having tunable and stable broadband bluish white emission properties were rationally designed. The subtle regulation of organic cations leads to a higher degree of distortion of the 2D [PbCl4 ]2- layers and enhanced photoluminescence quantum efficiencies (<1 % for 1 and 4.9 % for 2). The broadband light emissions could be ascribed to self-trapped excitons on the basis of structural characterization, time-resolved PL, temperature-dependent PL emission, and theoretical calculations. This work gives a new guidance to rationally optimize the PL properties of low-dimensional halide perovskites and affords a platform to probe the structure-property relationship.

Abstract
With the in situ-generated [Pb(MCP)4]2+ (HMCP+ = 1-methyl-4-(carboxyl)pyridinium) or [M(phen)3]2+ (M = Co, Fe and Ni; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) complexes as structural directing agents and charge-balancing ions, we solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized four new organic-inorganic hybrid iodoplumbates. Compound K2[Pb(MCP)4]Pb3I10 (1) represents the first K+ and [Pb(MCP)4]2+ co-templated hybrid haloplumbate, and exhibits a curve-like anionic layer of [Pb3I10]n4n-. Compounds [M(phen)3]Pb2I6·CH3CN (M = Co (2), Fe (3) and Ni (4)) have isostructural phases, and feature a one-dimensional (1D) [Pb2I6]n2n- anionic chain characteristic of pyramid-like [PbI5] units. The optical property studies show that compounds 1-4 exhibit semiconductor behaviors with the band gaps of 1.98-2.68 eV. In addition, the title compounds exhibited interesting photoelectrical responsive properties, with the photocurrent density in the order of 1 > 3 > 2 > 4. The thermal stabilities of the title compounds 1-4, as well as the theoretical band structure and density of states (DOS) of compounds 1 and 2 have also been studied.

Abstract
[C6N2H18][SbI5] (1), a novel metal halide semiconductor with dielectric relaxation behavior, has been successfully synthesized, in which the cavities between the one-dimensional [SbI5] n2- polyanions are occupied by 2-methyl-1,5-pentanediammonium (2-MPDA) cations. 1 undergoes a reversible solid-state phase transition at TC = 192.7 K and shows a step-like dielectric anomaly. Interestingly, above TC, distinct dielectric dispersion in a wide temperature range is also witnessed. Remarkably, the solid state UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrum of 1 exhibits a slightly gentler absorption edge at about 650 nm; that is, 1 adopts an indirect band gap with 1.92 electron volts. The combined narrow band gap, strong photoconductivity effect, and excellent dielectric relaxation might shed light on the exploitation of lead-free hybrid metal halide molecular materials with promising application prospects in thermoresponsive relaxation-type dielectric materials and photovoltaic conversion devices.
