Magnetic Properties of Co(II) Complexes with Polyhedral Carborane Ligands

Formation of H-bonding networks in the solid state structure of a trinuclear cobalt(iii/ii/iii) complex with N2O2 donor Schiff base ligand and glutaric acid as bridging co-ligand: synthesis, structure and DFT study

A trinuclear linear mixed-valence centrosymmetric cobalt(iii)-cobalt(ii)-cobalt(iii) complex, [CoII{(μ-L)(μ-Hglu)CoIII(OH2)}2](ClO4)2·6H2O has been synthesized during tetradentate N2O2 donor 'Schiff base' ligand, H2L {N,N'-bis(salicylidene)-1,3-diaminopropane} and glutaric acid (H2glu) as anionic co-ligand. The complex has been characterized by spectroscopic measurements and its solid state structure has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The supra-molecular assembly formed by the hydrogen bonding interactions in the solid state of the complex has been analysed using DFT calculations.

Fused 1,2-Diboraoxazoles Based on closo-Decaborate Anion-Novel Members of Diboroheterocycle Class

The novel members of the 1,2-diboraoxazoles family have been obtained. In the present work, we have carried out the intramolecular ring-closure reaction of borylated iminols of general type [B₁₀H₉N=C(OH)R]⁻ (R = Me, Et, ⁿPr, ⁱPr, ^tBu, Ph, 4-Cl-Ph). This process is conducted in mild conditions with 83–87% yields. The solid-state structures of two salts of 1,2-diboraoxazoles were additionally investigated by X-ray crystallography. In addition, the phenomena of bonding interactions in the 1,2-diboraoxazole cycles have been theoretically studied by the Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules analysis. Several local and integral topological properties of the electron density involved in these interactions have been computed.

Novel 3D anionic heterometallic frameworks based on trinuclear CoII and trinuclear LnIII motifs displaying slow magnetic relaxation and selective adsorption of methylene blue

3D CoLn heterometallic frameworks have been synthesized. CoDy and CoHo show slow magnetic relaxation behavior. CoTb exhibits excellent adsorption capacity for methylene blue.

New global minima of 6-vertex dicarboranes: classical but unexpected

Dicarboranes generally adopt global minimum predicted by the well-known Wade-Mingos rules, although one classical non-closo structure in the benzvalene form has long been pursued and later synthesized. Here we predicted two new non-closo global minima for 6-vertex dicarboranes (C2B4R6), i.e., trigonal bipyramid (R = SH) and butterfly (R = Cl, NH2, OH, F). The long expected classical benzvalene-like structure, however, is not the global minimum for any of the nine substituents.
