Abstract
This present review delineates the repertoire of vinyl cyclopropanes and their stuctural analogues to accomplish a wide array of oxa-cycles, aza-cycles, and thia-cycles under transition metal catalysis and metal-free approaches from early 2019 to the present date. The generation of electrophilic π-allyl intermediates and 1-3/1-5-dipolarophile chemistry originating from VCPs are always green, step- and atom-economical and sustainable strategies in comparsion with prefunctionalized and/or C-H activation protocols. Here, the strained ring-system extends its applicability by relieving the strain to undergo a ring-expansion reaction to accomplish 5-9 membered carbo- and heterocyclic systems. The availability of chiral ligands in the ring-expansion reaction of VCPs and their analogues has paved the way to realizing asymmetric synthetic transformations.

Abstract
An attractive approach for the preparation of spirocyclic benzofuran-furocoumarins has been developed through iodine-catalyzed cascade annulation of 4-hydroxycoumarins with aurones. The reaction involves Michael addition, iodination, and intramolecular nucleophilic substitution in a one-step process, and offers an efficient method for easy access to a series of valuable spirocyclic benzofuran-furocoumarins in good yields (up to 99%) with excellent stereoselectivity. Moreover, this unprecedented protocol provides several advantages, including readily available materials, an environmentally benign catalyst, a broad substrate scope, and a simple procedure.

Abstract
Phosphorodithioates are important substructures due to their great use in bioactive compounds and functional materials. A metal-free 1,5-addition of spirovinylcyclopropyl oxindoles have been developed by choosing P4S10 and alcohol as nucleophiles through the regioselective ring-opening of spirovinylcyclopropyl oxindoles. This method provides access to allylic organothiophosphates with high efficiency, wide functional group tolerance, good chemo- and regioselectivity, and E-selectivity. 1,3-Addition products were also prepared in high yield. Furthermore, the resulting organothiophosphates could be readily transformed into other allylic derivatives.

Abstract
[3 + 2] annulations of oxindole based spirocyclic donor-acceptor cyclopropanes and ynamides catalyzed by copper triflate have been developed for the synthesis of biologically important spirocyclopenteneoxindoles. These reactions tolerated a wide scope of substrates and provided the desired products in good to high yields (up to 90%) with up to >40 : 1 diastereoselectivities under mild conditions.

Abstract
In this investigation at the MN15L/Def2-TZVP level of theory, we present computational evidence indicating that the reaction of 3Σ-g-O2 with spirovinylcyclopropyl oxindole (2) leads to a product called spiro-1,2-dioxolane (2) in its singlet state; this reaction occurs via a stepwise mechanism and its rate-determining step is catalyzed by iodine radicals, which promotes opening of the three-membered ring under dark conditions. The conversion of 2 to 1-benzylindoline-2,3-dione (3) and 2-vinyloxirane (4) takes place via a concerted and slightly asynchronous reaction. Both electron localization function and AIM topological analysis reveal that the step associated with the attack of the 3Σ-g-O2 molecule on the intermediate 3MC characterizes the formation of the only new O2-C3 single bond, which occurs in a stepwise mechanism, in contrast to the Δg-O2 reaction with 15 species.

Abstract
We describe the first electrochemical activation of D-A cyclopropanes and D-A cyclobutanes leading after C(sp3 )-C(sp3 ) cleavage to the formation of highly reactive radical cations. This concept is utilized to formally insert molecular oxygen after direct or DDQ-assisted anodic oxidation of the strained carbocycles, delivering β- and γ-hydroxy ketones and 1,2-dioxanes electrocatalytically. Furthermore, insights into the mechanism of the oxidative process, obtained experimentally and by additional quantum-chemical calculations are presented. The synthetic potential of the reaction products is demonstrated by diverse derivatizations.

Abstract
Spirocyclopropane represents a privileged structural scaffold for accessing synthetic libraries of densely functionalized spirocarbo- and heterocyclic compounds. Due to the ubiquity of spirocyclic motifs as a potent pharmacophore in natural products and pharmaceuticals, recent years have witnessed significant advances in developing synthetic strategies that exploits carbon-carbon bond scission in spirocyclopropanes. This paper summarizes the recent developments in stereoselective ring expansion of spirocyclopropanes in diversity-oriented synthesis and highlights the synthetic as well as mechanistic rationale of those methodologies. This review also encompasses the applicability of the protocols in bioactive natural product syntheses.
