Abstract
Synthesis of an antigenic tetrasaccharide repeating unit of the O-polysaccharide of Salmonella enteritidis lipopolysaccharide has been accomplished. Those four monosaccharides were assembled stereoselectively by employing our recently developed cationic gold(I)-catalyzed glycosylation methodology involving various glycosyl N-1,1-dimethylpropargyl carbamate donors. The newly formed α-anomeric stereochemical configuration was controlled by the axial C2-OBz of the glycosyl donors via anchimeric assistance.

Abstract
Chemical synthesis of glycoconjugates is essential for studying the biological functions of carbohydrates. We herein report an efficient approach for the stereoselective synthesis of challenging α-linked glycoconjugates via a RhII /chiral phosphoric acid (CPA)-cocatalyzed dynamic kinetic anomeric O-alkylation of sugar-derived lactols via carbenoid insertion to the anomeric OH bond. Notably, we observed excellent anomeric selectivity, excellent diastereoselectivity, broad substrate scope, and high efficiency for this glycosylation reaction by exploring various parameters of the cocatalytic system. DFT calculations suggested that the anomeric selectivity was mainly determined by steric interactions between the C2-carbon of the carbohydrate and the phenyl group of the metal carbenoid, while π/π interactions with the C2-OBn substituent on the carbohydrate substrate play a significant role for diastereoselectivity at the newly generated stereogenic center.

Abstract
Cesium carbonate-mediated stereoselective anomeric O-alkylation of a 2N,3O-oxazolidinone-protected d-mannosamine with sugar-derived primary or secondary alkyl triflates afforded the corresponding 2-amino-2-deoxy-β-d-mannosides in moderate to good yields and excellent stereoselectivity. The oxazolidinone ring can be opened with aqueous alkali hydroxide to liberate the amine functionality. This method has been successfully applied to the synthesis of the trisaccharide repeating unit of Streptococcus pneumoniae 19F polysaccharide.

Abstract
Stereoselective construction of a variety of β-glycosides can be achieved using abundant and inexpensive K2CO3-mediated stereoselective anomeric O-alkylation of sugar lactols with primary electrophiles. In addition, application of this methodology to the synthesis of various azido-modified glycosphingolipids has been accomplished in good yields and excellent anomeric selectivity using sphingosine-derived primary triflate.

Abstract
The role of the cyclic 2,3-N,O-carbamate protecting group in directing the selectivity of mannosylation reactions of diacetone-d-glucose, promoted by BSP/Tf2O via α-triflate intermediates, has been investigated through a combined computational and experimental approach. DFT calculations were used to locate the transition states leading to the α or β anomers. These data indicate the preferential formation of the β-adduct with mannosyl donors either equipped with the 4,6-O-benzylidene protection or without it. The synthetic results confirmed this preference, showing in both cases an α/β selectivity of 4:6. This highlights a role for the 2,3-N,O-carbamate in sharp contrast with what described in the case of 2,3-O-carbonate mannosyl donors.

Abstract
The main focus of this review is to describe accomplishments made in the stereoselective synthesis of β-linked mannosides functionalized with carboxyls or amines/amides. These ManNAc, ManA and ManNAcA residues found in many glycoconjugates, bacterial polysaccharides, and alginates have consistently captured interest of the glycoscience community both due to synthetic challenge and therapeutic potential.
