Abstract
A series of chiral bifunctional organocatalysts were prepared and used for enantioselective synthesis of 3-substituted isoindolinones from 2-formylarylnitriles and malonates through aldol-cyclization rearrangement tandem reaction in excellent yields and enantioselectivites (up to 87% yield and 95% ee) without recrystallization. In this investigation, we found that chiral tertiary-amine catalysts with a urea group can afford 3-substituted isoindolinones both in higher yields (87% vs. 77%) and enantioselectivities (95% ee vs. 46% ee) than chiral bifunctional phase-transfer catalysts.

Abstract
AbstractA methodology for the oxidation of α-trifluoromethyl alcohols to the corresponding trifluoromethyl ketones is presented. A catalytic quantity of a nitroxide is used, and potassium persulfate serves as the terminal oxidant. The methodology proves effective for aromatic, heteroaromatic, and conjugated alcohol substrates. It can be extended to nonfluorinated secondary alcohols and, in this case, can be applied to a range of aromatic, heteroaromatic, and aliphatic alcohols.

Abstract
A methodology for the preparation of nitriles from aldehydes by means of an oxidative functionalisation reaction is reported. It employs ammonium persulfate as both the primary oxidant and the nitrogen source, and a catalytic amount of a nitroxide. It is applicable to a range of structurally diverse (hetero)aromatic aldehydes furnishing the nitrile products in 30-97% isolated yield. Given the ready accessibility of aldehydes and that ammonium persulfate is cheap and less toxic than many other reagents for generating nitriles, this methodology offers a simple and easy to use approach to this valuable class of compounds.

Abstract
A divergent reaction of isocyanides with o-bromobenzaldehydes for the synthesis of isoindolinone-derived ketenimines and lactams was disclosed. The reaction features readily available reactants, relatively mild conditions, and high yields of products. Ketenimines could be applied in further transformations for access to other functional molecules. A mechanism study showed that the palladium-migration/imine-insertion process was the key step in this reaction.

Abstract
An ultrafast (10 s) methodology to construct novel highly functionalized 2-quinolinones from N-(o-ethynylaryl)acrylamides (1,7-enynes) is described for the first time. Microwave irradiation enabled the ultrafast synthesis of 2-quinolinone-fused γ-lactones from Fenton's reagents in formamide. After six key consecutive reactions, including a diastereoselective step, 2-quinolinone-fused γ-lactones were obtained in good overall yield (up to 46%; 10 s).
