Abstract
An efficient Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H activation of azobenzenes and subsequent [4+1] cascade annulation with CF3-imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides was developed, yielding diverse CF3-indazoles. This protocol featured easily available starting materials, excellent functional group tolerance and high efficiency. Moreover, the antitumor activities of selected CF3-indazoles against human cancer cell lines were also studied, and the results indicated that several compounds displayed considerable antiproliferative activities.

Abstract
An unprecedented natural light promoted DMSO/O2-catalyzed N-acylation reaction of imidazoles/triazoles with cyclopropenones at room temperature under metal-free conditions has been developed. The remarkable advantages of this strategy include atomic economy and environmentally benign conditions (such as natural light promotion, DMSO/O2-catalysis, room temperature, and DMC as solvent), stereospecific (E)-olefins synthesis (N-acyl imidazoles and triazoles), wide functional group tolerance and high reaction yields. Furthermore, the typical products (1c and 1e) display good photocurrent and electrochemical property and are potentially applicable in biosensor materials fields.

Abstract
An efficient p-TsOH-mediated insertion of sodium thiocyanate into trifluoromethylimidoyl sulfoxonium ylides has been reported, affording annulated N-aryl-4-trifluoromethylthiazol-2-amines in 42-84% yields in a one-pot manner. This protocol encompasses a variety of trifluoromethylimidoyl sulfoxonium ylides with thiocyanate serving as the source of the "S-C═N" moiety of the thiazole ring. The versatile transformations of the resulting pharmacologically important N-aryl-4-trifluoromethylthiazol-2-amines were also demonstrated.

Abstract
Trifluoromethylated heterocyclic compounds have played an increasingly significant role in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and materials. This is because the introduction of trifluoromethyl could enhance the lipophilicity, metabolic stability, and pharmacokinetic properties of heterocyclic drug molecules. Therefore, the synthesis of trifluoromethylated heterocyclics has become a major subject of research. The construction of trifluoromethylated heterocyclics via the annulation of trifluoromethyl building blocks with suitable partners has been proved to be a powerful strategy. In this review, we systematically summarize and discuss recent advances in the preparation of trifluoromethyl-containing heterocyclics via trifluoromethyl building block strategies over the period from 2019 to the present.

Abstract
A rhodium(III)-catalyzed aldehydic C(sp2)-H imidoylmethylation of quinolin-8-carboxaldehydes with CF3-imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides (TFISYs) has been developed for the generation of α-imino ketones, which could be readily tautomerized to enaminones in moderate to excellent yields. In the transformation, TFISYs act as a kind of masked alkenylating reagents for the aldehyde moiety, and the obtained CF3-enaminone products have been successfully converted into other useful trifluoromethyl-substituted heterocycles.

Abstract
A LiBr-promoted formal C(sp3)-H bond insertion reaction between β-carbonyl esters and sulfoxonium ylides is established. This practical reaction has a wide range of substrate scope for both β-carbonyl esters and sulfoxonium ylides to give a variety of 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds with 43-94% yields. The reaction features transition-metal-free reaction conditions and exclusive C-alkylation chemselectivity. The use of bench-stable sulfoxonium ylides overcomes previous methods that require transition metal as catalysts and unstable diazo compounds or toxic haloketones as alkylation reagents.

Abstract
We have found a chameleonic reactivity of imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides. On the one hand, imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides react with electron-deficient reagents, such as alkynyl esters, to lead to the formation of 1,2-dihydro-pyridines. The methyl group attached to the sulfur atom acts as a methylene donor. On the other hand, imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides react with pyridinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolates, which leads to the formation of functionalized pyrroles. Both transformations feature mild reaction conditions and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract
CF3-substituted imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides (TFISYs) are extraordinarily versatile and powerful synthons for use in cyclization chemistry that affords diverse CF3-substituted N-heterocycles. We first reacted TFISYs as a two-atom synthon with readily available azoalkenes and then subjected the products to metal-free formal (4+2) cycloaddition chemistry. This protocol features mild conditions and broad substrate scope, is simple to operate, and provides highly functionalized trifluoromethylpyridazines that are widely found in bioactive molecules.

Abstract
A ruthenium-catalyzed peri-selective C-H activation and annulation of 1-naphthols with CF3-substituted imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides that uses hydroxyl as a weakly coordinating directing group is disclosed. The strategy provides a facile and practical route to diverse trifluoromethyl-containing 2,3-dihydrobenzo[de]chromen-2-amines with high efficiency. Notable advantages of this protocol include readily available materials, excellent regioselectivity, good functional group compatibility, and scalability.

Abstract
An unprecedented copper-catalyzed cascade reaction of 1,6-enynes with sulfoxonium ylides is reported, providing a series of structurally intriguing 2,3-disubstituted indolines bearing a conjugated dienone functionality at the 3-position in moderate to excellent yields with good chemo-, regio-, and diastereoselectivities under mild reaction conditions. Importantly, sulfoxonium-ylide-derived copper-carbene herein exhibits quite different reactivity from that of diazo copper-carbene. A rational mechanism, an initial ammonium ylide rather than allene formation, is proposed.

Abstract
A straightforward strategy for the metal-free construction of trifluoromethyl-containing pyrazole derivatives has been achieved from readily available α-halo hydrazones and CF3-imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides. The cascade transformation proceeds through the formal [4+1] cycloaddition followed by an unexpected dual double bond isomerization. The protocol features mild conditions, easy operation, excellent substrate compatibility, and good regioselectivity. The synthetic utility is demonstrated by scale-up reaction and further elaboration of the obtained pyrazole products.
