Abstract
Monodentate chelation-assisted direct ortho-C-H sulfonylation of (hetero)arenes using TosMIC as the novel sulfonylating reagent has been developed. A broad range of substrates, including indolines, indoles, 2-phenylpyridines, and others were well tolerated to afford the corresponding products in moderate to good yields. Mechanistic studies revealed that the sulfonyl radical might be involved. Inspired by the above discovery, preliminary para-C-H sulfonylation of naphthalene substrate was also successfully realized. The current protocol featured with cheap metal catalysis, good functional group compatibility, and operational convenience.

Abstract
Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine has attracted much interest in drug development because of its potent medicinal properties, therefore the discovery of novel methods for its synthesis and functionalization continues to be an exciting area of research. Although transition metal catalysis has fuelled the most significant developments, extremely beneficial metal-free approaches have also been identified. Even though pertinent reviews focused on imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine synthesis, properties (physicochemical and medicinal), and functionalization at the C3 position have been published, none of these reviews has focused on the outcomes obtained in the field of global ring functionalization. We wish here to describe a brief synthesis and an overview of all the functionalization reactions at each carbon atom, viz, C2, C3, C5, C6, C7 and C8 of this scaffold, divided into sections based on site-selectivity and the type of functionalization methods used.

Abstract
Alkylated imidazopyridines are crucial structures for medicinal chemistry. Here, an efficient method for the C3-H alkylation of imidazopyridines was devised. Under Lewis acid-catalyzed conditions, reactions of imidazopyridines with different donor-acceptor cyclopropanes were carried out. Finally, 1,3-bisfunctionalizaton of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes was performed. In addition, synthesized C3-alkylated imidazopyridines are amenable for diverse synthetic applications.

Abstract
Sulfonyl hydrazides are viewed as alternatives to sulfinic acids and their salts or sulfonyl halides, which are broadly used in organic synthesis or work as active pharmaceutical substances. Generally, sulfonyl hydrazides are considered good building blocks and show powerful value in a diverse range of reactions to construct C-S bonds or C-C bonds, and even C-N bonds as sulfur, carbon, or nitrogen sources, respectively. As a profound synthetic tool, the electrosynthesis method was recently used to achieve efficient and green applications of sulfonyl hydrazides. Interestingly, many unique and novel electrochemical syntheses using sulfonyl hydrazides as radical precursors have been developed, including cascade reactions, functionalization of heterocycles, as well as a continuous flow method combining with electrochemical synthesis since 2017. Accordingly, it is necessary to specifically summarize the recent developments of electrosynthesis with only sulfonyl hydrazides as radical precursors to more deeply understand and better design novel electrochemical synthesis reactions. Herein, electrosynthesis research using sulfonyl hydrazides as radical precursors since 2017 is reviewed in detail based on the chemical structures of products and reaction mechanisms.

Abstract
A mild and simple protocol has been established for the formation of sulfenylated imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines. This is a metal-free iodine/TBHP-mediated one-pot multicomponent reaction, which follows C-H functionalization of the imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine skeleton formed during the reaction and its subsequent sulfenylation in the same step to offer sulfenylated imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines in good to high yields. The extension and applications of this method have also been demonstrated.

Abstract
An atom economic method demonstrates the involvement of noncovalent interaction via hydrogen or halogen bonding interaction in triggering paired electrolysis for the group transfer reactions. Specifically, this method demonstrated the bromination of several aromatic and heteroaromatic compounds through the activation of the C(sp3)-Br bond of organic-bromo derivatives on demand. This electrochemical protocol is mild, and mostly no additional electrolyte is needed, which makes the workup process straightforward. Unlike the existing regioselective monobromination methods, this work utilizes a relatively small amount (1.2 equiv) of bromine surrogates that releases bromine on demand under the electrochemical condition and after completion of the reaction generates acetophenone as a useful byproduct. Green metrics indicate this protocol has a very good atom efficiency with an E-factor of 26.86 kg of waste/1 kg of product. In addition to the scale-up process, this strategy could be extended to the transfer of chlorine and thioaryl units. An extensive mechanistic study is accomplished to validate the hypothesis of noncovalent interaction using computational, spectroscopic, and cyclic voltammetry studies. Finally, the applicability of this newly developed nonbonding interaction to trigger paired electrolysis was extended to the chemoselective debromination of several dihalo organic compounds.

Abstract
A novel multicomponent cascade cyclization and sulfenylation/selenation using aryl methyl ketones, isoquinolin-1-amine, and sodium arylsulfinates/1,2-diphenyldiselane to synthesize imidazo[2,1-a]isoquinoline derivatives in one-pot via the construction of two C-N bonds and one C-S/C-Se bond has been reported. This multicomponent reaction realizes simultaneous C(sp3)-H amination and sulfenylation/selenation, avoiding complicated prior substrate preparation. This process has simple operating conditions and good substrate compatibility.

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report that describes linking of imidazopyridines with electron deficient heteroarenes through a sulphur atom and also for the synthesis of most of these compounds. The reaction conditions are well tolerated by almost all kinds of 2-chloroheteroarenes and a wide range of imidazoheterocycles. The synthesized compounds can show significant biological properties.

Abstract
A Chan-Lam-type C-S coupling reaction using sodium aryl sulfinates has been developed to provide diaryl thioethers in up to 92% yields in the presence of a copper catalyst and potassium sulfite. Both electron-rich and electron-poor sodium aryl sulfinates and diverse organoboron compounds were tolerated for the synthesis of aryl and heteroaryl thioethers and dithioethers. The mechanistic study suggested that potassium sulfite was involved in the deoxygenation of sulfinate through a radical process.

Abstract
The C3-functionalized imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines are versatile nitrogen-fused heterocycles; however, the methods for the C3 acyloxylation of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines have never been reported. Herein we demonstrate the electrochemical oxidative C3 acyloxylation of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines for the first time. Notably, by using electricity, the electrochemical oxidative C3 acyloxylation of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines was carried out under mild conditions. Moreover, in addition to aromatic carboxylic acids, alkyl carboxylic acids were also competent substrates.

Abstract
Oxidation potential-guided electrochemical radical-radical cross-coupling reactions between N-heteroarenes and sodium sulfinates have been established. Thus, simple cyclic voltammetry measurement of substrates predicts the likelihood of successful radical-radical coupling reactions, allowing the simple and direct synthetic access to 3-sulfonylated imidazopyridines and indolizines. The developed electrochemical radical-radical cross-coupling reactions to sulfonylated N-heteroarenes boast the green synthetic nature of the reactions that are oxidant- and metal-free.

Abstract
This review highlights the preparation of sodium sulfinates (RSO2Na) and their multifaceted synthetic applications. Substantial progress has been made over the last decade in the utilization of sodium sulfinates emerging as sulfonylating, sulfenylating or sulfinylating reagents, depending on reaction conditions. Sodium sulfinates act as versatile building blocks for preparing many valuable organosulfur compounds through S-S, N-S, and C-S bond-forming reactions. Remarkable advancement has been made in synthesizing thiosulfonates, sulfonamides, sulfides, and sulfones, including vinyl sulfones, allyl sulfones, and β-keto sulfones. The significant achievement of developing sulfonyl radical-triggered ring-closing sulfonylation and multicomponent reactions is also thoroughly discussed. Of note, the most promising site-selective C-H sulfonylation, photoredox catalytic transformations and electrochemical synthesis of sodium sulfinates are also demonstrated. Holistically, this review provides a unique and comprehensive overview of sodium sulfinates, which summarizes 355 core references up to March 2020. The chemistry of sodium sulfinate salts is divided into several sections based on the classes of sulfur-containing compounds with some critical mechanistic insights that are also disclosed.

Abstract
We report here a novel reductive radical-polar crossover reaction that is a reductive radical-initiated 1,2-C migration of 2-azido allyl alcohols enabled by an azidyl group. The reaction tolerates diverse migrating groups, such as alkyl, alkenyl, and aryl groups, allowing access to n+1 ring expansion of small to large rings. The possibility of directly using propargyl alcohols in one-pot is also described. Mechanistic studies indicated that an azidyl group is a good leaving group and provides a driving force for the 1,2-C migration.
