Abstract
Hydrogen bond symmetrisation is the phenomenon where a hydrogen atom is located at the centre of a hydrogen bond. Theoretical studies predict that hydrogen bonds in ice VII eventually undergo symmetrisation upon increasing pressure, involving nuclear quantum effect with significant isotope effect and drastic changes in the elastic properties through several intermediate states with varying hydrogen distribution. Despite numerous experimental studies conducted, the location of hydrogen and hence the transition pressures reported up to date remain inconsistent. Here we report the atomic distribution of deuterium in D2O ice using neutron diffraction above 100 GPa and observe the transition from a bimodal to a unimodal distribution of deuterium at around 80 GPa. At the transition pressure, a significant narrowing of the peak widths of 110 is also observed, attributed to the structural relaxation by the change of elastic properties.

Abstract
We present the evidence of superionic phase formed in H2O and, for the first time, diffusive H2O-He phase, based on time-resolved x-ray diffraction experiments performed on ramp-laser-heated samples in diamond anvil cells. The diffraction results signify a similar bcc-like structure of superionic H2O and diffusive He-H2O, while following different transition dynamics. Based on time and temperature evolution of the lattice parameter, the superionic H2O phase forms gradually in pure H2O over the temperature range of 1350-1400 K at 23 GPa, but the diffusive He-H2O phase forms abruptly at 1300 K at 26 GPa. We suggest that the faster dynamics and lower transition temperature in He-H2O are due to a larger diffusion coefficient of interstitial-filled He than that of more strongly bound H atoms. This conjecture is then consistent with He disordered diffusive phase predicted at lower temperatures, rather than H-disordered superionic phase in He-H2O.

Abstract
Van der Waals (vdW) chemistry in simple molecular systems may be important for understanding the structure and properties of the interiors of the outer planets and their satellites, where pressures are high and such components may be abundant. In the current study, Raman spectra and visual observation are employed to investigate the phase separation and composition determination for helium-nitrogen mixtures with helium concentrations from 20 to 95% along the 295 K isothermal compression. Fluid-fluid-solid triple-phase equilibrium and several equilibria of two phases including fluid-fluid and fluid-solid have been observed in different helium-nitrogen mixtures upon loading or unloading pressure. The homogeneous fluid in helium-nitrogen mixtures separates into a helium-rich fluid (F1) and a nitrogen-rich fluid (F2) with increasing pressure. The triple-phase point occurs at 295 K and 8.8 GPa for a solid-phase (N2)11He vdW compound, fluid F1 with around 50% helium, and fluid F2 with 95% helium. Helium concentrations of F1 coexisted with the (N2)11He vdW compound or δ-N2 in helium-nitrogen mixtures with different helium concentrations between 40 and 50% and between 20 and 40%, respectively. In addition, the helium concentration of F2 is the same in helium-nitrogen mixtures with different helium concentrations and decreases upon loading pressure. Pressure-induced nitrogen molecule ordering at 32.6 GPa and a structural phase transition at 110 GPa are observed in (N2)11He. In addition, at 187 GPa, a pressure-induced transition to an amorphous state is identified.
