Abstract
We designed and synthesized high χ-low N-maltoheptaose-(triazolium+/N(SO2CF3)2-)-polyisoprene-(triazolium+/N(SO2CF3)2-)-maltoheptaose ABA triblock elastomers featuring triazolium+/N(SO2CF3)2- (TFSI-) counteranion ionic interfaces separating their constituting polymeric sub-blocks. Spin-coated and solvent-vapor-annealed (SVA) MH1.2k-(T+/TFSI-)-PI4.3k-(T+/TFSI-)-MH1.2k thin films demonstrate interface-induced charge cohesion through ca. 1 nm "thick" ionic nanochannels which facilitate the self-assembly of a perpendicularly aligned lamellar structure. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and (grazing-incidence) small-angle X-ray scattering ((GI)SAXS) characterizations of MH1.2k-(T+/TFSI-)-PI4.3k-(T+/TFSI-)-MH1.2k and pristine triBCP analogous thin films revealed sub-10 nm block copolymer (BCP) self-assembly and unidirectionally aligned nanostructures developed over several μm2 areas. Solvated TFSI- counterions enhance the oligosaccharide sub-block packing during SVA. The overall BCP phase behavior was mapped through SAXS characterizations comparing di- vs triblock polymeric architectures, a middle PI sub-block with two different molecular masses, and TFSI- or I- counteranion effects. This work highlights the benefits of inducing single-point electrostatic interactions within chemical structures of block copolymers to master the long-range self-assembly of prescribed morphologies.

Abstract
The nanoscale determination of the mechanical properties of interfaces is of paramount relevance in materials science and cell biology. Bimodal atomic force microscopy (AFM) is arguably the most advanced nanoscale method for mapping the elastic modulus of interfaces. Simulations, theory, and experiments have validated bimodal AFM measurements on thick samples (from micrometer to millimeter). However, the bottom-effect artifact, this is, the influence of the rigid support on the determination of the Young's modulus, questions its accuracy for ultrathin materials and interfaces (1-15 nm). Here we develop a bottom-effect correction method that yields the intrinsic Young's modulus value of a material independent of its thickness. Experiments and numerical simulations validate the accuracy of the method for a wide range of materials (1 MPa to 100 GPa). Otherwise, the Young's modulus of an ultrathin material might be overestimated by a 10-fold factor.

Abstract
A one-pot approach for the preparation of diblock copolymers consisting of polystyrene and polymyrcene blocks is described via a temperature-induced block copolymer (BCP) formation strategy. A monomer mixture of styrene and myrcene is employed. The unreactive nature of myrcene in a polar solvent (tetrahydrofuran) at -78 °C enables the sole formation of active polystyrene macroinitiators, while an increase of the temperature (-38 °C to room temperature) leads to poly(styrene-block-myrcene) formation due to polymerization of myrcene. Well-defined BCPs featuring molar masses in the range of 44-117.2 kg mol-1 with dispersities, Ð, of 1.09-1.21, and polymyrcene volume fractions of 30-64% are accessible. Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry measurements reveal the temperature-controlled polymyrcene block formation, while both transmission electron microscopy and small-angle X-ray scattering measurements prove the presence of clearly microphase-separated, long range-ordered domains in the block copolymers. The temperature-controlled one-pot anionic block copolymerization approach may be general for other terpene-diene monomers.

Abstract
Metallopolymers (MPs) or metal-containing polymers have shown great potential as new drug delivery systems (DDSs) due to their unique properties, including universal architectures, composition, properties and surface chemistry. Over the past few decades, the exponential growth of many new classes of MPs that deal with these issues has been demonstrated. This review presents and assesses the recent advances and challenges associated with using MPs as DDSs. Among the most widely used MPs for these purposes, metal complexes based on synthetic and natural polymers, coordination polymers, metal-organic frameworks, and metallodendrimers are distinguished. Particular attention is paid to the stimulus- and multistimuli-responsive metallopolymer-based DDSs. Of considerable interest is the use of MPs for combination therapy and multimodal systems. Finally, the problems and future prospects of using metallopolymer-based DDSs are outlined. The bibliography includes articles published over the past five years.

Abstract
Metallopolymers are an emerging class of materials with potential utility as semiconductors, catalysts, optical device components, and stimuli responsive networks. While polymer frameworks have been decorated with an array of organometallic moieties, the incorporation of metallocarbenes has been largely overlooked. Here, we report ring-opening metathesis polymerization as a strategy for the synthesis of Fischer carbene-containing polymers. High degrees of polymerization were observed (>800 repeats), and the isolated materials exhibited exceptional solubility and thermal stability. The tungsten carbene subunits were readily incorporated into block copolymers and could be modified through subsequent transformations. Moreover, the metallocarbene polymers were found to release carbon monoxide upon exposure to light or oxygen, which is unusual for tungsten carbene complexes. These metallocarbene-containing polymers could represent new platforms for the development of functional materials.

Abstract
Ultrahigh-molecular-weight (UHMW) tapered block copolymers (BCPs) consisting of polyisoprene- block-poly(4-methylstyrene) featuring overall molar masses in the range of 1101-2033 kg mol-1 ( Mw) are synthesized via a convenient one-step anionic copolymerization protocol. The obtained UHMW BCPs are investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, size exclusion chromatography, and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Microphase separation for the UHMW BCPs in the bulk state is investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), revealing well-ordered lamellar and spherical domains with large domain sizes in the range of 100-200 nm. Excellent order and periodicity are observed for lamellar morphologies over large film areas of 90 × 120 μm. Because of this high order of the underlying domains and the different refractive indices of the block segments, vivid structural colors can be observed in the bulk state. Structural colors of BCP films are investigated by angle-dependent UV/vis measurements, revealing intensive reflection colors according to Bragg's law of diffraction. The optical characteristics are directly correlated to TEM and SEM results. Moreover, colored BCP films featuring spherical domains for one block segment with domain sizes of 97-122 nm revealed blue structural colors stemming from disordered particle scattering.

Abstract
The design of artificially generated channels featuring distinct remote-switchable functionalities is of critical importance for separation, transport control, and water filtration applications. Here, we focus on the preparation of block copolymers (BCPs) consisting of polystyrene-block-poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PS-b-PHEMA) having molar masses in the range of 91 to 124 kg mol-1 with a PHEMA content of 13 to 21 mol %. The BCPs can be conveniently functionalized with redox-active ferrocene moieties by a postmodification protocol for the hydrophilic PHEMA segments. Up to 66 mol % of the hydroxyl functionalities can be efficiently modified with the reversibly redox-responsive units. For the first time, the ferrocene-containing BCPs are shown to form nanoporous integral asymmetric membranes by self-assembly and application of the non-solvent-induced phase separation (SNIPS) process. Open porous structures are evidenced by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and water flux measurements, while efficient redox-switching capabilities are investigated after chemical oxidation of the ferrocene moieties. As a result, the porous membranes reveal a tremendously increased polarity after oxidation as reflected by contact angle measurements. Additionally, the initial water flux of the ferrocene-containing membranes decreased after oxidizing the ferrocene moieties because of oxidation-induced pore swelling of the membrane.

Abstract
This paper reports the electrochemical behavior and catalytic property of electrode-supported thin films of polystyrene-block-poly(2-(acryloyloxy)ethyl ferrocenecarboxylate) (PS-b-PAEFc) in an ethanol (EtOH) solution. The electrochemical properties of PS-b-PAEFc films with different PAEFc volume fractions (fPAEFc = 0.47, 0.30, and 0.17) in 0.1 M ethanolic sodium hexafluorophosphate (NaPF6) were compared with those in an acetonitrile (MeCN) solution of 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate. Pristine PS-b-PAEFc films did not afford significant faradaic currents in the EtOH solution because EtOH is a nonsolvent for both PS and PAEFc. However, the films could be rendered redox-active in the EtOH solution by applying potentials in the MeCN solution to induce the redox-associated incorporation of the supporting electrolytes into the films. Atomic force microscopy images verified the stability of PAEFc microdomains upon electrochemical measurements in these solutions. Cyclic voltammograms measured in the EtOH solution for PS-b-PAEFc with the larger fPAEFc were diffusion-controlled regardless of ellipsometric film thickness (23-152 nm) at relatively slow scan rates, in contrast to those in the MeCN solution that were controlled by surface-confined redox species. The electron propagation efficiency in the EtOH solution was significantly lower than that in the MeCN solution because of the poorer swelling of the films, which limited the migration of counterions and the collisional motions of the ferrocene moieties. PS-b-PAEFc films were applied as electrochemically responsive heterogeneous catalysts based on the ferrocenium moieties for Michael addition reaction between methyl vinyl ketone and ethyl 2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylate (E2OC) in 0.1 M NaPF6/EtOH. The catalytic activities of thin films were similar regardless of fPAEFc, suggesting that the catalytic reaction took place for the reactants that could penetrate through the film and reach PAEFc microdomains communicable with the underlying electrode. Interestingly, the permeability of PS-b-PAEFc films provided a means to control the reaction selectivity, as suggested by negligible reaction of E2OC with trans-4-phenyl-3-buten-2-one.
