Abstract
The zwitterionic compounds [(LC)P=CS(LC/P)]+ (3+, LC=NHC, LP=PR3), featuring cationic substituents at the phosphorus and carbon atoms, are synthesized as their triflate salts at a multi-gram scale from the reaction of Lewis base adducts of CS2, namely LC/P-CS2 (4), with a combination of [(LCP)4][OTf]4 (1[OTf]4) and Ph3P. The feasibility of using 3+ as PCS building blocks is showcased in their reactions with representative electrophiles (MeOTf) and nucleophiles (MesMgBr, Ph3PCH2), leading to selective functionalization of the PCS core at the S- and P-terminus, respectively. Additionally, it is reported that 3+ can function as ambident nucleophiles with AgOTf (2 equivalents), affording unprecedented linear coordination polymer [Ag2(OTf)3-μ2:κP,κS-((LC)P=CS(PCy3))]+ (6 b), where the PCS moiety acts as a bridging ligand in transition metal complexes for the first time. Reduction of 3+ facilitates the cleavage of the P- and C-bound substituents leading to the formation of the [PCS]- anion. Moreover, cycloaddition reactions of 3+ with 1[OTf]4 are shown to selectively yield five- and eight-membered polyphosphorus heterocycles. Preliminary results suggest the possibility of activating the C-S bond in [(LC)P=CS(LC)]+, resulting in the formation of [(LC)P=C(LC)-P(LC)][OTf]2, 12[OTf]2, which may serve as a synthon for the PCP unit in future studies.

Abstract
Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of N-heterocyclic olefins (NHOs) have been prepared on Au(111) and their thermal stability, adsorption geometry, and molecular order were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, polarized X-ray absorption spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The strong σ-bond character of NHO anchoring to Au induced high geometrical flexibility that enabled a flat-lying adsorption geometry via coordination to a gold adatom. The flat-lying adsorption geometry was utilized to further increase the surface interaction of the NHO monolayer by backbone functionalization with methyl groups that induced high thermal stability and a large impact on work-function values, which outperformed that of N-heterocyclic carbenes. STM measurements, supported by DFT modeling, identified that the NHOs were self-assembled in dimers, trimers, and tetramers constructed of two, three, and four complexes of NHO-Au-adatom. This self-assembly pattern was correlated to strong NHO-Au interactions and steric hindrance between adsorbates, demonstrating the crucial influence of the carbon-metal σ-bond on monolayer properties.

Abstract
The synthesis of the new bulky vinyllithium reagent (Me IPr=CH)Li, (Me IPr=[(MeCNDipp)2 C]; Dipp=2,6-iPr2 C6 H3 ) is reported. This vinyllithium precursor was found to act as a general source of the anionic 2σ, 2π-electron donor ligand [Me IPr=CH]- . Furthermore, a high-yielding route to the degradation-resistant SiII precursor Me IPr⋅SiBr2 is presented. The efficacy of (Me IPr=CH)Li in synthesis was demonstrated by the generation of a complete inorganic divinyltetrelene series (Me IPrCH)2 E: (E=Si to Pb). (Me IPrCH)2 Si: represents the first two-coordinate acyclic silylene not bound by heteroatom donors, with dual electrophilic and nucleophilic character at the SiII center noted. Cyclic voltammetry shows this electron-rich silylene to be a potent reducing agent, rivalling the reducing power of the 19-electron complex cobaltocene (Cp2 Co).

Abstract
The reaction of IDipp with C5F5N led to functionalization of all three carbon atoms of the imidazole ring with HF2- as the counter-anion (1). Reactivity with 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoropyridine gives only C-F bond activation leaving C-H bonds intact (5b). The reaction of SIDipp with C5F5N in the presence of BF3 afforded the ring cleavage product (3). Analogous reactions with silylene led to oxidative addition at the Si(ii) center.

Abstract
We report a new class of stable mesoionic N-heterocyclic olefins, featuring a highly polarized (strongly ylidic) double bond. The ground-state structure cannot be described through an uncharged mesomeric Lewis-structure, thereby structurally distinguishing them from traditional N-heterocyclic olefins (NHOs). mNHOs can easily be obtained through deprotonation of the corresponding methylated N,N'-diaryl-1,2,3-triazolium and N,N'-diaryl-imidazolium salts, respectively. In their reactivity, they represent strong σ-donor ligands as shown by their coordination complexes of rhodium and boron. Their calculated proton affinities, their experimentally derived basicities (competition experiments), as well as donor abilities (Tolman electronic parameter; TEP) exceed the so far reported class of NHOs.
