Abstract
Half-sandwich zirconium(IV) and hafnium(IV) complexes with amidoborane and hydride ligands have been isolated in the stoichiometric reactions of mono(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)metal alkyl and amido derivatives with the amine-boranes NHR2BH3 (R2 = H2, Me2, HtBu). Treatment of the tris(trimethylsilylmethyl) complexes [M(η5-C5Me5)(CH2SiMe3)3] with NH3BH3 (3 equiv) gives the seven-coordinate species [M(η5-C5Me5)(NH2BH3)3] (M = Zr (1), Hf (2)) with three κ2N,H-NH2BH3 ligands. The tris(neophyl) [M(η5-C5Me5)(CH2CMe2Ph)3] or tris(dimethylamido) [M(η5-C5Me5)(NMe2)3] derivatives react with NHMe2BH3 (≥3 equiv) to afford bis(dimethylamidoborane) hydride complexes [M(η5-C5Me5)H(NMe2BH3)2] (M = Zr (3), Hf (4)) via thermally unstable [M(η5-C5Me5)(NMe2BH3)3] species. The reaction of [M(η5-C5Me5)(NMe2)3] and NH2tBuBH3 (≥4 equiv) affords analogous mixed amidoborane hydride derivatives [M(η5-C5Me5)H(NHtBuBH3)(NMe2BH3)] (M = Zr (5), Hf (6)) with κ2N,H-NHtBuBH3 and κ3N,H,H-NMe2BH3 ligands. The addition of NHR2BH3 (≥1 equiv) on the mono(dimethylamido) complexes [M(η5-C5Me5)Cl2(NMe2)] in hexane leads to the precipitation of the ionic compounds [(NHR2)2BH2][{M(η5-C5Me5)Cl2}2(μ-H)3] (R2 = Me2, M = Zr (7), Hf (8); R2 = HtBu, M = Zr (9), Hf (10)). Molecular hydride species [Cl2(η5-C5Me5)M(μ-Cl)(μ-H)2M(η5-C5Me5)Cl(NH2tBu)] (M = Zr (11), Hf (12)) could be isolated from mixtures of complexes [M(η5-C5Me5)Cl2(NMe2)] and lower ratios of NH2tBuBH3. The zirconium complex 11 decomposes in solution to give the mononuclear tert-butylamido derivative [Zr(η5-C5Me5)Cl2(NHtBu)] (13) along with other byproducts.

Abstract
Metal-metal cooperation for inert bond activation is a ubiquitous concept in coordination chemistry and catalysis. While the great majority of such transformations proceed via intramolecular mode in binuclear complexes, to date only a few examples of intermolecular small molecule activation using usually bimetallic frustrated Lewis pairs (Mδ+⋯M'δ-) have been reported. We introduce herein an alternative approach for the intermolecular bimetallic cooperativity observed in the catalytic dehydrogenation of amine-boranes, in which the concomitant activation of N-H and B-H bonds of the substrate via the synergetic action of Lewis acidic (M+) and basic hydride (M-H) metal species derived from the same mononuclear complex (M-Br). It was also demonstrated that this system generated in situ from the air-stable Mn(i) complex fac-[(CO)3(bis(NHC))MnBr] and NaBPh4 shows high activity for H2 production from several substrates (Me2NHBH3, tBuNH2BH3, MeNH2BH3, NH3BH3) at low catalyst loading (0.1% to 50 ppm), providing outstanding efficiency for Me2NHBH3 (TON up to 18 200) that is largely superior to all known 3d-, s-, p-, f-block metal derivatives and frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs). These results represent a step forward towards more extensive use of intermolecular bimetallic cooperation concepts in modern homogeneous catalysis.

Abstract
Dehydrogenation of ammonia borane to well-defined products is an important but challenging reaction. A dinuclear ruthenium complex with a Ru-Ru bond bearing a diazadiene (dad) unit and olefins as non-innocent ligands catalyzes the highly selective formation of conjugated polycondensed borazine oligomers (BxNxHy), predominantly B21N21H18, the BN analogue of superbenzene.

Abstract
An examination of several catalytic reactions among the group 15 elements is presented. The connections between the chemistry of the pnictogens can sometimes be challenging, but aspects of metal-pnictogen reactivity are the key. The connecting reactivity comes from metal-catalyzed transformations such as dehydrocoupling and hydrofunctionalization. Pivotal mechanistic insights from E-N heterodehydrocoupling have informed the development of highly active catalysts for these reactions. Metal-amido nucleophilicity is often at the core of this reactivity, which diverges from phosphine and arsine dehydrocoupling. Nucleophilicity connects to the earliest understanding of hydrophosphination catalysis, but more recent catalysts are leveraging enhanced insertion activity through photolysis. This photocatalysis extends to hydroarsination, which may also have more metal-arsenido nucleophilicity than anticipated. However, metal-catalyzed arsinidene chemistry foreshadowed related phosphinidene chemistry by years. This examination shows the potential for greater influence of individual discoveries and understanding to leverage new advances between these elements, and it also suggests that the chemistry of heavier elements may have more influence on what is possible with lighter elements.

Abstract
Continued efforts are made on the development of earth-abundant metal catalysts for dehydrogenation/hydrolysis of amine boranes. In this study, complex [K-18-crown-6-ether][(NO)2Fe(μ-MePyr)(μ-CO)Fe(NO)2] (3-K-crown, MePyr = 3-methylpyrazolate) was explored as a pre-catalyst for the dehydrogenation of dimethylamine borane (DMAB). Upon evolution of H2(g) from DMAB triggered by 3-K-crown, parallel conversion of 3-K-crown into [(NO)2Fe(N,N'-MePyrBH2NMe2)]- (5) and an iron-hydride intermediate [(NO)2(CO)Fe(μ-H)Fe(CO)(NO)2]- (A) was evidenced by X-ray diffraction/nuclear magnetic resonance/infrared/nuclear resonance vibrational spectroscopy experiments and supported by density functional theory calculations. Subsequent transformation of A into complex [(NO)2Fe(μ-CO)2Fe(NO)2]- (6) is synchronized with the deactivated generation of H2(g). Through reaction of complex [Na-18-crown-6-ether][(NO)2Fe(η2-BH4)] (4-Na-crown) with CO(g) as an alternative synthetic route, isolated intermediate [Na-18-crown-6-ether][(NO)2(CO)Fe(μ-H)Fe(CO)(NO)2] (A-Na-crown) featuring catalytic reactivity toward dehydrogenation of DMAB supports a substrate-gated transformation of a pre-catalyst [(NO)2Fe(μ-MePyr)(μ-CO)Fe(NO)2]- (3) into the iron-hydride species A as an intermediate during the generation of H2(g).

Abstract
Chemodivergent synthetic methodologies enable the efficient introduction of structural diversity into high-value organic products via simple chemical alterations. In this regard, C-H activation and functionalization of pyridinoid azines are important transformations in the synthesis of many natural products, pharmaceuticals, and functional materials. Reflecting on azinyl nitrogen lone-pair steric repulsion, its tendency to irreversibly coordinate metal ion catalysts, and the electron deficiency of pyridine, C-H functionalization at the important α-position remains challenging. Thus, developing earth-abundant catalysts for α-selective azine mono-functionalization is an attractive target for chemical synthesis. Here, the selective organolanthanide-catalyzed α-mono-borylation of a diverse series of 18 pyridines is reported using Cp*2LuCH(TMS)2 (Cp* = η5-C5Me5) (TMS = SiMe3) and affording valuable precursors for subsequent functionalization. Experimental and theoretical mechanistic data reported here support the intermediacy of a C-H-activated η2-lanthanide-azine complex, followed by intermolecular α-mono-borylation via σ-bond metathesis. Notably, varying the lanthanide identity and substrate substituent electronic character promotes marked chemodivergence of the catalytic selectivity: smaller/more electrophilic lanthanide3+ ions and electron-rich substrates favor selective α-C-H functionalization, whereas larger/less electrophilic lanthanide3+ ions and electron-poor substrates favor selective B-N bond-forming 1,2-dearomatization. Such lanthanide series catalytic chemodivergence is, to our knowledge, unprecedented.

Abstract
This work reports a site-selective C-H borylation of pyridines at the ortho-position with pinacolborane enabled by an yttrocene catalyst. The reaction provides a new family of 2-pyridyl boronates with a broad substrate scope and high atom efficiency. The resultant boronates were able to undergo a variety of transformations, e.g., oxidation, Suzuki-Miyaura coupling, Chan-Lam amination and etherification. Catalytic intermediates, including ortho-C-H metalated and borylated complexes, were isolated from stoichiometric experiments and confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

Abstract
The catalytic activity in amine-borane dehydrogenation is shown for the first time for Ln(II) species using complexes [{(p-tBu-C6H4)2CH}2M·L] (M = Yb, Sm, L = (DME)2, TMEDA). The protonation of M(II)-C bonds with HNR1R2BH3 affords amidoborane complexes [M(NR1R2BH3)2L], which under excess HNMe2BH3 transform to [NMe2BH2NMe2BH3]- derivatives, both serving as the dehydrocoupling intermediates.

Abstract
The air tolerant precatalyst, [Rh(L)(NBD)]Cl ([1]Cl) [L = κ3-(iPr2PCH2CH2)2NH, NBD = norbornadiene], mediates the selective synthesis of N-methylpolyaminoborane, (H2BNMeH)n, by dehydropolymerization of H3B·NMeH2. Kinetic, speciation, and DFT studies show an induction period in which the active catalyst, Rh(L)H3 (3), forms, which sits as an outer-sphere adduct 3·H3BNMeH2 as the resting state. At the end of catalysis, dormant Rh(L)H2Cl (2) is formed. Reaction of 2 with H3B·NMeH2 returns 3, alongside the proposed formation of boronium [H2B(NMeH2)2]Cl. Aided by isotopic labeling, Eyring analysis, and DFT calculations, a mechanism is proposed in which the cooperative "PNHP" ligand templates dehydrogenation, releasing H2B═NMeH (ΔG‡calc = 19.6 kcal mol-1). H2B═NMeH is proposed to undergo rapid, low barrier, head-to-tail chain propagation for which 3 is the catalyst/initiator. A high molecular weight polymer is formed that is relatively insensitive to catalyst loading (Mn ∼71 000 g mol-1; Đ, of ∼ 1.6). The molecular weight can be controlled using [H2B(NMe2H)2]Cl as a chain transfer agent, Mn = 37 900-78 100 g mol-1. This polymerization is suggested to arise from an ensemble of processes (catalyst speciation, dehydrogenation, propagation, chain transfer) that are geared around the concentration of H3B·NMeH2. TGA and DSC thermal analysis of polymer produced on scale (10 g, 0.01 mol % [1]Cl) show a processing window that allows for melt extrusion of polyaminoborane strands, as well as hot pressing, drop casting, and electrospray deposition. By variation of conditions in the latter, smooth or porous microstructured films or spherical polyaminoboranes beads (∼100 nm) result.

Abstract
Catalytic dehydrocoupling of H3B·NMe2H using Cp2Zr(Cl)(μ-Me3SiC3SiMe3)Zr(Cl)Cp2 (1)/MeLi was studied. Spectroscopic monitoring and stoichiometric experiments show the formation and interconversion of several catalytically active Zr species.
