Abstract
Lewis acid-catalyzed one-pot 1,3-thioalkenylation of donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes has been demonstrated employing in situ generated dithiocarbamates (from amines and CS2) as nucleophilic triggers and alkyl propiolates as electrophiles. This method addresses the limitations of previously known carbothiolation approach, eliminating the need for extra filtration prior to the subsequent trapping with electrophiles. The anticipated thioalkenylated products were obtained in good to excellent yields with a moderate to good E/Z ratio. Three new bonds (C-N, C-S, and C-C) are formed during this 1,3-bisfunctionalization reaction. Notably, employing enantiomerically pure D-A cyclopropanes resulted in enantiopure 1,3-thioalkenylated products, underscoring the stereospecific nature of the developed reaction.

Abstract
To date, [3 + 2] cycloadditions of diazo esters with alkynes or alkenes have been a robust tool to generate pyrazoles and pyrazolines. However, methods capable of generating donor/donor diazo species from readily available N-tosylhydrazones to furnish [3 + 2] cycloadditions, remain elusive. Herein, we describe the first visible-light-induced [3 + 2] cycloadditions of donor/donor diazo precursors with alkenes to afford pyrazoles and novel (spiro)pyrazolines bearing a quaternary center. This protocol shows a tolerable substrate scope covering versatile carbonyl compounds and alkenes. Late-stage functionalization of bioactive molecules, one-pot approach, and gram-scale synthesis have also been introduced successfully to prove the practicability. At last, mechanistic experiments and DFT studies suggested the formation of non-covalent interactions enabling the activation of N-tosylhydrazones and the formation of the donor/donor diazo intermediates.

Abstract
Design, synthesis and application of benzene bioisosteres have attracted a lot of attention in the past 20 years. Recently, bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes have emerged as highly attractive bioisosteres for ortho- and meta-substituted benzenes. Herein we report a mild, scalable and transition-metal-free protocol for the construction of highly substituted bicyclo[2.1.1]hexan-2-ones through Lewis acid catalyzed (3+2)-cycloaddition of bicyclo[1.1.0]-butane ketones with disubstituted ketenes. The reaction shows high functional group tolerance as documented by the successful preparation of various 3-alkyl-3-aryl as well as 3,3-bisalkyl bicyclo[2.1.1]hexan-2-ones (26 examples, up to 89 % yield). Postfunctionalization of the exocyclic ketone moiety is also demonstrated.

Abstract
We herein report a method for divergent copper salt controlled reactions of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes and N-fluorobenzene sulfonimide (NFSI). Specifically, in the presence of CuX2 (X=Cl, Br), the cyclopropanes underwent formal umpolung 1,3-aminohalogenation bifunctionalization via a free radical mediated ring-opening process to afford 1,3-aminochlorination and 1,3-aminobromination products in moderate to good yields. In addition, by using CuI as a catalyst, we synthesized various aminoindane derivatives via 1,3-aminoarylation cyclization of D-A cyclopropanes, the reactions involved a free radical mediated ring-opening and subsequent ring expansion via C-H bond activation.

Abstract
A facile and efficient route to dithiolanes starting from donor-acceptor cyclopropanes is reported. Potassium p-toluenethiosulfonate has been established as the reagent of choice for this formal insertion of the disulfide moiety. Using this methodology, dithiolanes have been synthesized in moderate to good yields with high functional group tolerance. Upon treatment with an excess of mCPBA, the corresponding dithiolanes delivered four-membered thietane dioxides, the formal (3+1)-cycloaddition product of D-A cyclopropanes, and sulfur dioxide.

Abstract
Two-step, ring-opening 1,3-carbothiolation of donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes employing alkyl halides and in situ generated dithiocarbamates (from amines and CS2) has been demonstrated under mild conditions. The reaction is operationally simple and works with good functional group compatibility. Three new bonds including C-N, C-S, and C-C are formed in this 1,3-bifunctionalization strategy. Electron-poor olefins can also be used as electrophiles instead of alkyl halides. The use of enantiomerically pure D-A cyclopropane afforded enantiopure 1,3-carbothiolated product, thus demonstrating the stereospecificity of the reaction.

Abstract
Diazomalonates have been demonstrated as effective metalloradicophiles for asymmetric radical olefin cyclopropanation via Co(II)-metalloradical catalysis (MRC). Supported by D 2-symmetric chiral amidoporphyrin ligand, Co(II)-based metalloradical system can efficiently activate unsymmetrical methyl phenyl diazomalonate (MPDM) with effective differentiation of the two ester groups for asymmetric cyclopropanation, enabling stereoselective construction of 1,1-cyclopropanediesters bearing two contiguous chiral centers, including all-carbon quaternary stereogenic center. The Co(II)-catalyzed asymmetric cyclopropanation, which operates at room temperature without slow addition of the diazo compound, is generally applicable to broad-ranging olefins and tolerates various functionalities, providing a streamlined synthesis of chiral 1,1-cyclopropanediesters in high yields with both high diastereoselectivity and enantioselectivity. Combined computational and experimental studies support the underlying stepwise radical mechanism for Co(II)-catalyzed cyclopropanation. In addition to functioning as 1,3-dipoles for forming five-membered structures, enantioenriched (E)-1,1-cyclopropanediesters serve as useful building blocks for stereoselective synthesis of different cyclopropane derivatives. In addition, the enantioenriched (E)-1,1-cyclopropanediesters can be stereoselectively converted to (Z)-diastereomers.

Abstract
Reactivity of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes towards nucleophiles and electrophiles is determined by the specific philicity of the carbon atoms originating from the strong polarization of the central C-C bond. Herein, we report that vitamin B12 catalysis enables the transformation of an initially electrophilic center into a nucleophilic radical that reacts with SOMOphiles. This radical-based strategy reverses the standard regioselectivity and thus complements the classical approaches.

Abstract
We describe a general electrochemical method to functionalize donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes and -butanes with arenes utilizing Friedel-Crafts-type reactivity. The catalyst-free strategy relies on the direct anodic oxidation of the strained carbocycles, which leads after C(sp3)-C(sp3) cleavage to radical cations that act as electrophiles for the arylation reaction. Broad reaction scopes in regard to cyclopropanes, cyclobutanes, and aromatic reaction partners are presented. Additionally, a plausible electrolysis mechanism is proposed.

Abstract
We describe the first electrochemical activation of D-A cyclopropanes and D-A cyclobutanes leading after C(sp3 )-C(sp3 ) cleavage to the formation of highly reactive radical cations. This concept is utilized to formally insert molecular oxygen after direct or DDQ-assisted anodic oxidation of the strained carbocycles, delivering β- and γ-hydroxy ketones and 1,2-dioxanes electrocatalytically. Furthermore, insights into the mechanism of the oxidative process, obtained experimentally and by additional quantum-chemical calculations are presented. The synthetic potential of the reaction products is demonstrated by diverse derivatizations.

Abstract
The stereospecific ionic ring-opening polymerization of various donor-acceptor cyclopropanes is reported. The chiral cyclopropane monomers are readily prepared with established methodology and stereospecific polymerization is best conducted with a catalytic amount of MgBr2 serving as a Lewis acid and as an initiator. Polymers with molecular masses of up to 7800 g mol-1 containing a stereocenter in every repeating unit are obtained and the substituents of the monomers can be readily varied to access a novel class of chiral polymers.

Abstract
A Lewis acid catalyzed annulation reaction via arene functionalization of nitrosoarenes and C-C cleavage of (epoxy)styrene to provide arylquinolines is reported. The Lewis acid catalyst altered the annulation pattern providing arylquinolines instead of oxazolidines. The reaction with styrene resulted in a mixture of 2,4-diarylquinoline and 4-arylquinoline, while only 3-arylquinoline was formed from the reaction of epoxystyrene.

Abstract
A tandem catalytic process for 1,3- and 1,4-bisarylation of donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes and cyclobutanes is disclosed. This strategy capitalizes on the use of two distinct sources of nucleophilic and electrophilic arylating agents, affording the formation of two new C-C bonds in an orchestrated multicomponent fashion with the aid of a catalytic Lewis acid. Mechanistic investigations have revealed it to be a stereoselective process, and products could be easily elaborated into other useful compounds.

Abstract
Donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclobutanes with two geminal ester groups as acceptors are reacted with electron-rich arenes as nucleophiles to afford ring-opened products. AlCl3 mediates this Friedel-Crafts-type reaction. A variety of donors and electron-rich arenes are used. Nucleophilic thiols and selenols also trigger this ring-opening reaction. Furthermore, a comparison of various physical parameters has been carried out for several D-A cyclobutanes.

Abstract
The Lewis acid catalyzed ring opening reaction of Donor-Acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes with alkyl hydroperoxides is reported to furnish various peroxycarbonyls and 1,3-haloperoxygenated compounds in good to excellent yields. This method adds another instance to scarcely reported noncyclilizing 1,3-bisfunctionalization of D-A cyclopropanes with two different functional groups and relies on the dual role of peroxide as nucleophile and oxidant through an orchestrated reaction sequence. The products obtained, including α-heterosubstituted peroxy compounds, are amenable to useful synthetic elaboration.

Abstract
Lewis-acid-induced domino transformations of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes, possessing a nucleophilic center embedded in a donor group, into functionalized 2,3-dihydrobenzo[ b]furans and 2,3-dihydrobenzo[ b]thiophenes are reported herein. An unusual switch of the electrophilic center in the three-membered ring, from the atom bearing a donor substituent to an unsubstituted carbon atom, was achieved by a judicious choice of Lewis acid, which induces the isomerization of a cyclopropane to an electrophilic alkene, and the length of linker, connecting a nucleophilic moiety and the small ring.
