Abstract
A strategy for convenient and precise oxidative aminotrifluoromethylation of 1,4-naphthoquinone with the Togni reagent and amines has been demonstrated via a radical process. This method allows efficient access for the preparation of a wide range of CF3-functionalized 1,4-naphthoquinones under mild conditions, and its application in late-stage modification of drug molecules is achieved. Mechanistic studies indicate that 1,4-naphthoquinone serves as both a substrate and a catalyst and that the Togni reagent plays a dual role of a substrate and an oxidant. As a result, the title reaction can take place in the dark without external catalysts and oxidants.

Abstract
A mild, scalable, one-pot access to multifunctional 9-fluorenols from o-formyl-ynones and o-bis-ynones on reaction with dimethylacetone-1,3-dicarboxyate through tandem Michael addition-Aldol condensation cascade has been conceptualized and executed. The scope and utility of this synthetic approach have been further amplified for one-pot entry into functionally enhanced, higher order fluorenols like pentacyclic indeno[1,2-b]fluorene-6,12-diols and further to indeno[1,2-b]fluorene-6,12-diones through the implementation of "double indeno-annulation" tactic on p-bis-o-formyl ynones and dimethylacetone-1,3-dicarboxylate. Besides several green attributes, the current approach is also compatible with the emerging time and energy economy features and is a swift gateway to build complexity.

Abstract
AbstractDuring the past few years, electrochemical oxidative reactions through radical intermediates have emerged as an environmentally-benign, powerful platform for the facile formation of C–E (E = C, N, S, Se, O and Hal) bonds through single-electron-transfer (SET) processes at the electrodes. Functionalized unsaturated molecules and unusual structural motifs can, for instance, be directly constructed under exceedingly mild reaction conditions through initial radical attack onto alkynes. This minireview highlights the recent advances in electrooxidation in radical reactions until June 2022, with a particular focus on radical additions onto alkynes.

Abstract
:
This review highlights the multifaceted synthetic applications of ynones in radical reactions.
Substantial progress has been made over the last decade (2010-2020) in the utilization of
ynones. Herein, the chemistry of ynones is divided into three sections based on the classes of critical
mechanistic insights: (1) radical addition and intramolecular cyclization; (2) radical addition
and intermolecular annulation; (3) radical addition and coupling. We hope that this review will
promote future research in this area.

Abstract
Dibenzocycloheptanones containing a tricyclic 6-7-6-system are present in numerous biologically active natural molecules. However, the simple and efficient preparation of derivatives containing a dibenzocycloheptanone scaffold remains difficult to date. Herein, we report a versatile strategy for the construction of these challenging seven-membered rings using a 7-endo-trig cyclization which is initiated by a phosphorus-centered radical. This approach provides a step-economical regime for the facile assembly of a wide range of phosphorylated dibenzocycloheptanones. Remarkably, we also have devised a traceless addition/exchange strategy for the preparation of dephosphorylated products at room temperature with excellent yields. Therefore, this protocol allows for the concise synthesis of biorelevant allocochicine derivatives.

Abstract
Alkoxyamines of TEMPO usually dissociate thermally at >100 °C; however, room temperature homolysis, activated by visible light, occurs with benzimidazolequinone derivatives. 1,1’-Dimethyl-2,2’-bis{[(2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-yl)oxy]methyl}-6-(trifluoromethyl)-1H,1’H-[5,5’-bibenzimidazole]-4,4’,7,7’-tetrone (CF3-Bis-TEMPO-Vis) is prepared in a 59% yield through NBS/H2SO4 oxidative demethylations of the dimethoxybenzimidazole-benzimidazolequinone precursor with aqueous work up. The alternative basic work up in air gave the epoxide derivative of CF3-Bis-TEMPO-Vis. Unlike the latter CF3-epoxide, both alkoxyamine residues are labile under green light (470–600 nm), and the rate of TEMPO release is three times slower than Bis-TEMPO-Vis.

Abstract
Divergent synthesis is a powerful strategy for the fast assembly of different molecular scaffolds from identical starting materials. We describe here a solvent-controlled photocatalytic divergent cyclization of alkynyl aldehydes with sulfonyl chlorides for the direct construction of highly functionalized cyclopentenones and dihydropyranols that widely exist in bioactive molecules and natural products. Density functional theory calculations suggest that a unique N,N-dimethylacetamide-assisted 1,2-hydrogen transfer of alkoxy radicals is responsible for the cyclopentenone formation, whereas a C–C cleavage accounts for the selective production of dihydropyranols in acetonitrile and water at 50 °C. Given the simple and mild reaction conditions, excellent functional group compatibility, forming up to four chemical bonds, and tunable selectivity, it may find wide applications in synthetic chemistry. A solvent-controlled photocatalytic divergent cyclization of alkynyl aldehydes is developed, providing a facile access to sulfonylated cyclopentenones and dihydropyranols under mild conditions.![]()

Abstract
A Co(OAc)2-catalyzed trifluoromethylation and subsequent C(3)-selective arylation of 2-(propargylamino)pyridines has been developed. A new 6-endo-dig cyclization involving an unprecedented C(3) selective arylation of the pyridines instead of a commonly observed 5-exo-dig cyclization with "N" is realized. Moreover, the study presents the first case of the installation of a trifluoromethyl group into electron-deficient azaarenes. The process delivers an efficient cascade approach to new trifluoromethylated 1,8-naphthyridine structures with a broad substrate scope.
