Abstract
The direct synthesis of triazole 2-oxides has posed a challenge in the field of N-heterocyclic chemistry. A novel copper(I)-catalyzed nitrosylation/annulation cascade of enaminones provides a straightforward route to 1H-1,2,3-triazole 2-oxides by forming new C-N, N=N, and N-N bonds using noncorrosive tert-butyl nitrite (TBN) as both the N and NO sources. The synthetic protocol features easily accessible starting materials, wide substrate scopes, and good tolerance toward various functional groups while avoiding use of explosive azides.

Abstract
Herein, we reported an efficient and facile visible-light-induced 3-alkyl chromone synthesis from easily accessible o-hydroxyaryl enaminones and α-diazo esters. In this protocol, excellent yields were obtained with a broad substrate scope at room temperature, tolerating various functional groups. Of note is that this eco-friendly methodology features catalyst- and additive-free, mild reaction conditions, simple operation procedure, and easy scale-up, which affords a convenient pathway for the preparation of 3-alkyl chromones. Experimental results and density functional theory (DFT) computation analyses confirm the participation of carbene species and active cyclopropane intermediate.

Abstract
Efficient palladium-catalyzed vinylic C-H alkenylation and allenylation of gem-disubstituted ethylenes with N-tosylhydrazones of aryl alkyl and diaryl ketones were achieved to access trisubstituted 1,3-dienes and tetrasubstituted allenes, respectively. An aryl to vinyl 1,4-palladium migration/carbene insertion/β-hydride elimination sequence proceeded to switch the chemo- and regioselectivities to give structurally diverse products. Use of 2-FC6H4OH additive enables enhancement of the reaction efficiency through accelerating the key 1,4-palladium migration process.

Abstract
A cascade strategy to synthesise gem-difluorinated 2H-furans from reactions of BrCF2CO2Et with enaminones has been described. The reactions tolerate a wide variety of functional groups under metal-free conditions. An active aminocyclopropane is proposed to be a key intermediate through the cyclopropanation of difluorocarbene with enaminones, which further triggers a regioselective C-C bond cleavage in situ to afford the corresponding gem-difluorinated 2H-furans.

Abstract
A concise synthetic route to spiroindoline-fused S-heterocycles was developed through copper-catalyzed [4 + 1] annulation using enaminothiones as donor-acceptor synthons. Both 3-diazoindolin-2-imines and 3-diazooxindoles were amenable to work as effective C1 building blocks. The reaction proceeds via a copper-catalyzed cascade process involving the in situ generation of copper(I) carbene and C-S/C-C bond formation. This synthetic protocol features the use of readily available substrates, diverse substituent tolerance, and good to excellent yields.

Abstract
An efficient PhIO-mediated oxidative C═C bond cleavage and reassembly of enaminone toward oxazolone with high regioselectivity has been reported. DFT calculations revealed that the reaction proceeded through an oxygen atom transfer, C═C bond cleavage, alkylthio migration, and reassembly cascade. This strategy is highlighted by high atom and step economy with formation of five bonds in one pot and generation of a high-valued oxazolone skeleton under mild conditions.

Abstract
A chemical reductant or a sacrificial electron donor is required in any reduction reactions, generally resulting in undesired chemical waste. Herein, we report a reductant-free reductive [3 + 2 + 1] annulation of β-keto amides with CS2 enabled by the synergy of electro/copper/base using water as an innocuous anodic sacrifice with O2 as a sustainable by-product. This electrochemical protocol is mild and provides access to polyfunctionalized pyridin-2-ones from simple starting materials in a single step.

Abstract
The utilization of malonic acids in radical decarboxylative functionalization is still underexploited, and the few existing examples are primarily limited to bisdecarboxylative functionalization. While radical monodecarboxylative functionalization is highly desirable, it is challenging because of the difficulty in suppressing the second radical decarboxylation step. Herein, we report the successful radical monodecarboxylative C–C bond coupling of malonic acids with ethynylbenziodoxolone (EBX) reagents enabled by an in situ masking strategy, affording synthetically useful 2(3H)-furanones in satisfactory yields. The keys to the success of this transformation include (1) the dual role of a silver catalyst as a single-electron transfer catalyst to drive the radical decarboxylative alkynylation and as a Lewis acid catalyst to promote the 5-endo-dig cyclization and (2) the dual function of the alkynyl reagent as a radical trapper and as an in situ masking group. Notably, the latent carboxylate group in the furanones could be readily released, which could serve as a versatile synthetic handle for further elaborations. Thus, both carboxylic acid groups in malonic acid derivatives have been well utilized for the rapid construction of molecular complexity. An in situ masking strategy has been developed based upon the unique properties of silver catalysts to successfully achieve a radical monodecarboxylative C–C bond coupling of malonic acids with ethynylbenziodoxolone reagents.![]()

Abstract
A convenient, "one-pot" synthesis of trisubstituted pyrroles via a Ru(ii)-catalyzed, Cu(ii)-mediated reaction of substituted isoxazoles with sulfonylhydrazones has been developed. A series of highly functionalized pyrroles are obtained via a synergistic formation of new C-C and C-N bonds. Mechanistic investigations were carried out to propose the plausible pathway. This protocol provides a facile and expeditious approach for the synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds bearing the pyrrole skeleton.

Abstract
Carbon-sulfur bond cross-coupling has become more and more attractive as an alternative protocol to establish carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds. Diverse transformations through transition-metal-catalyzed C-S bond activation and cleavage have recently been developed. This review summarizes the advances in transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling via carbon-sulfur bond activation and cleavage since late 2012 as an update of the critical review on the same topic published in early 2013 (Chem. Soc. Rev., 2013, 42, 599-621), which is presented by the categories of organosulfur compounds, that is, thioesters, thioethers including heteroaryl, aryl, vinyl, alkyl, and alkynyl sulfides, ketene dithioacetals, sulfoxides including DMSO, sulfones, sulfonyl chlorides, sulfinates, thiocyanates, sulfonium salts, sulfonyl hydrazides, sulfonates, thiophene-based compounds, and C[double bond, length as m-dash]S functionality-bearing compounds such as thioureas, thioamides, and carbon disulfide, as well as the mechanistic insights. An overview of C-S bond cleavage reactions with stoichiometric transition-metal reagents is briefly given. Theoretical studies on the reactivity of carbon-sulfur bonds by DFT calculations are also discussed.

Abstract
Concise construction of furan and thiophene units has played an important role in the synthesis of potentially bioactive compounds and functional materials. Herein, an efficient Lewis acid ZnCl2 catalyzed [4+1] annulation of alkylthio-substituted enaminones is reported, that is, α-oxo ketene N,S-acetals with sulfur ylides to afford 2-acyl-3-aminofuran derivatives. In a similar fashion, [4+1] annulation of the corresponding enaminothiones, that is, α-thioxo ketene N,S-acetals, with sulfur ylides efficiently proceeded to give multisubstituted 3-aminothiophenes. This method features wide substrate scopes as well as broad functional group tolerance, offering a concise route to highly functionalized furans and thiophenes.

Abstract
A facile and efficient strategy for the synthesis of 1,4-dihydropyridazines and pyridazines through I2-promoted [4 + 2] cycloaddition of in situ generated azoalkenes with enaminones has been developed. The switch in selectivity is attributed to the judicious choice of different reaction temperatures. The key features of this work include controllable and selective synthesis, good functional group tolerance, good to excellent reaction yields, metal/base-free conditions, and also applicability to one-pot methodology.

Abstract
The synthesis of 1,2,3-triazoles with a sulfur-based side chain has been accessed with the metal-free annulation reactions of readily available β-thiolated enaminones and tosyl hydrazine. By these reactions with water as the only medium, a broad array of 5-thiolated 1,2,3-triazoles have been synthesized with generally good to excellent yields. Except using TMEDA (N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine) as the only base promoter, not any other catalyst or additive is required, thus providing an efficient and environmentally benign method for useful 1,2,3-triazole synthesis.

Abstract
Some N-tosylhydrazone derivatives were effectively synthesized under solvent-free conditions by using a grinding method at room temperature. The short reaction time, clean and mild process with simple workup and easy purification of the target compounds were salient features of the present protocol, which enables straightforward access to N-tosylhydrazones. Among the tosylhydrazone derivatives evaluated, compound 3 l exhibits excellent apoptosis-promoting and anticancer potential against triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cell lines. This research shows that our synthesized compound 3 l may be a desirable and effective therapeutic drug against TNBC.
